I had an interesting issue utilizing a monitoring software for our routers and switches. The monitoring tool indicated a few switches were down, however was unable to ping or telnet into them from the computer I had the software installed on.

New ASA 8.4 supports etherchannel so I want to plugin 2 cables from ASA1 to sw1 and sw2 and 2 cables from ASA2 to sw1 and sw2? Is this a valid design? how would I configure that? It seems however, that this switch has no SNMP support - is this correct? Does this mean that there is no way to monitor traffic over the switch's ports short of making a script access the web UI?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was positively surprised to find the optical transmit/receive values using the show fiber-ports optical-transceiver detailed command on a SG300-10.
Now I'm wondering if there is also a SNMP-MIB to query these values? I've already tried the CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB used by the larger devices running Cisco IOS, but this didn't work.
Does the SGE2000 supports NetFlow? I've checked the Cisco docs and also called Cisco support to which no one has been able to answer me.
Anyhow, just in case it doesn't support NetFlow, how to be able to set up something that would be able to check the bandwidth usage on each port?
I've got a problem where I think the SGE2000 switch is failing when I pump around 190~200Mbps through x2 of the ports (Server A on port 1=130Mbps and Server B on port 2=60Mbps) of Multicast traffic (UDP). I can measure the output from the Streaming servers that provide the multicast content, thats how I know the input to the switch and I know that there are no packets lost or any errors departing from the servers, yet when I increase server B to say 80Mbps, I get break up and all sorts of problems on the client end STBs and it is happening on the multicast content provided by Server A too which is a different source, so I'm 99.9% sure its a SGE2000 switch problem which is why I'd like to monitor it somehow.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi run a web server out of my home hosting a website that can get several hundred people visiting simultaneously. im currently attempting to upgrade my DD-WRT flashed WRT54G V2 router with a cisco rv120w in order to sustain more simultaneous connections (existing router locks up after a few hundred). due to the amount of spam i get on my forum, particularly from IPs originating from asia pacific networks, i block all access from those IPs utilizing the IP address and CIDR. the rv120w has starting IP and ending IP to apply a rule to, but id like to block using my existing addresses from asia pacific networks with their applicable CIDR.

I understand that we will not be able to utilze certain features that you get with the WLC such as RRM, rogue detection, and clean air.
We do want to utilze both the 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ bands. In order to do this with the 2602 stand-alone AP, will we have to configure 2 separate SSID's? I really do not want to do this to if I do not have to to minimize confusion for clients.
I am having a bit of trouble with the following scenario; I have two 2901 ISRs and a 2924XL setup in the following fashion.
2924XL--->P2P-Fiber--->2901ISR--->P2P-Fiber--->2901ISR
I need to be able to reach the LAN 192.168.1.0 from 192.168.3.0 for TS but cannot get this to work. I can ping from within the switch all around and i can ping from within the woodlawn router all around but cannot ping host to host.
Is temperature monitoring via snmp supported on Cisco 2801 routers? when i perform a snmpwalk i donot get the associated value for the oids.

I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

To do this we are using a standard modem/router that is connected to an Engenius (802.11b/g) wireless outdoor radio connected to a dish antenna. We are able to go to locations (3+km) and then with a corresponding receiving antenna (using LoS), receive the Internet and connect both to computers at the transmitting point as well as to the WWW. The problem exists is that we want to employ a series of routers at the receiving end that would be able to carry the transmission to a different location (relatively close), due to the fact that some of the locations do not have line of sight to the antennas. We are using Encore routers, model # ENHWI-N3. When we connect the radio's Ethernet into the routers WAN reciever, we can connect to the Internet with a computer. The problem exists is we want to pass that connection over to a second router (R2). This connection is done when the routers are on access points set to a WDS function with R1 having R2's mac address and vice versa. Both routers are set to channel 1. Even when the routers are seperated by distances >50m a computer plugged into R2 can see a computer plugged into R1. Files can be transferred between the 2 computers wirelessly at speed around 3 mbps. However computer 2 on R2 can not connect to the WWW. This router features a spot that lights up if it has Internet access and R1's is lit up but R2's is not. How do we transfer the Internet and not just a LAN from R1 to R2 so it can be accessed further away from the point of the radio and antenna equipment. This setup has also been used where R2 is hardwired to R3. At R3 we change the channel to 11, and then connect through that with mac addresses wirelessly to 4th router. If comp is in R4 and far away it can still access and file share from comp at R1.*edit the ip address for the routers exist all on 192.168.1.xxx If the 3rd number is different between routers would this make a difference?

If i check the broadband router it shows all the connections to it as having the same MAC address as the Cisco router?? if i disconnect the Cisco router everything returns back to normal and works perfectly.What I want to achieve is to be able to run both routers on the same LAN to provide internet access by configuring the pc's to route through a specific router. the DHCP I want to stay routed through my original broadband line. at the same time i want all pc's to access to the lan devices (ie. servers and printers) what the correct configuration would be for the two internet routers would be?
