How do I change the channel for my wireless router?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to know how to change the wifi channel of the connection. connectify can't do it. I guess you have to set it somewhere in the network card settings, but I'm quite a noob when it's about wireless network. googling my problem didn't get me any good result since all the threads about channel setup are about modem/router wifi channel setting, can't find anything about hotspots.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to make a few adjustments to out wireless network and need to change the RF channels on a few APs.I've logged on to NCS went into the AP, an 1142N, then the Radio 802.11 b/g/n and changed the RF channel under custom.Once I pressed the save button the channel reverts back to its original channel. I've also tried this on a 1242AG the same thing happens. I then went to the controller and tried to change the RF channel there and it took the change. I pressed apply logged out went back to NCS made the change under custom and again it reverted back after I pressed the save button. I went back into the controller and the channel had also reverted back even thought it gave the impression it took the changel.

View 11 Replies View RelatedWe've recently moved from using FiberChannel across an OC-48 between two data centers to GigabitEthernet. Data replication throughput has dropped from 700Mbps down to 45Mbps. The telco provider has demonstrated 1Gb throughput via UDP andTCP using T-Berts. However, when we connect two computers or servers, we do not get near the throughput performance.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my buffalo N450 router working great and have installed a Belkin 600HD as a wired WAP. Now I am trying to fine tune them to get the greatest coverage and throughput. What do you guys recommend in terms of channel selection. Should I try to cover different channels with each router or keep them the same? I have been using inSSIDer to try and watch the strength and width of various settings. It seems I get better strength (at least according to Windows 7) when I have the channels set the same.

Since he has had this he gets a poor connection on Xbox live, the previous Xbox had the external adaptor which worked fine but sold it thinking he would not need it with the new improved built in wi-fi.I have also tried my xbox in his room and there was no difference, so we know its not the Xbox, various other pieces of kit like boosters etc. I have a Netgear WNR 1000v2 and have not the foggiest idea how to change channels.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a "best" channel to use for the router -- e.g. the one that would provide maximum range? I live in a fairly large home and the connection deteriorates in some rooms (not lost altogether, but weaker). Also, what is "channel width"? It's set to 20MHZ, but there is also a setting for Automatic 20/40MHZ. What's the adv advantage of one setting over the other?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out what channel my Linksys E4200 is CURRENTLY using (at the time I check it)I am having issues with occassionally losing my connection (mostly from the computer furthest from the router) and it may be caused by a cordless phone , in the room with that computer as I think the problem only occurs when on the phone in that room.So I am trying to determine what channel that it may be using at the time of the drops ...(so I can set it NOT to use that channel)I'm pretty sure it it something on the 5ghz (40mhz)side .but I don't really want to set the router to use 20mhz only as the speed greatly drops when on 20mhz only (i.e. 50mbps vs up to 200mbs when 5ghz is activated)
Checking my Router set up page, I see only what channels is CAN use, not what is currently being used.Is there anyway to identify what channel it is currently using so I can see if it is a specific channel causing the issue and not have to switch off 40mhz?

View 18 Replies View RelatedSo everything I've read on Cisco's documentation here: URL says that I can create a port-channel on two physical interfaces that will uplink to a VSS pair. However, the command is not recognized. What am I missing? I've tried executing "channel-group #" on the physical interface and tried creating the port-channel 1st and neither commands exist. I haven't seen it listed anywhere if it is only available after a specific piece of ASA software. If it is the software what version at a minimum I need to upgrade to? View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been having some connectivity problems and one suggested solution was to upgrade networking firmware. I did this for our router (Cisco RVS4000 v2) and it didn't work, so I moved on to the wireless access points (two WAP4410N). Before doing that, I also reset both to factory default settings - neither would respond to pressing the reset button but it seemed to work using the web interface for both.
Before I did anything to the WAP4410Ns, I noticed they were connected in B/G/N-Mixed mode to channel 6. Now the wireless network mode is stuck on Disable. I can choose B/G/N-Mixed from the dropdown list, but can't choose a channel - the dropdown list for that is empty. And if I try to choose Save after choosing B/G/N-Mixed, it reverts to Disable.
How do I improve my Wireless Network Environment
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I have a current port-channel between two 6ks that I need to upgrade. There's too much traffic and the port buffers on the SUP7203B sort of suck. Microbursts are causing overruns like mad. Im going to move the 2x1gig port-channel to a 6724 and make it a 3x1gig port-channel. The switches carry production traffic across the link to the tune of about 400 meg during the lowest load time. Initially, I thought that I couldn't move the port channel without temporarily taking down the link but I think I have a workable solution now. Has anyone done this successfully before? Im curious what others have done. Also, to make matters worse, the existing port-channel is 'mode on' and I want to migrate to 'mode active' in the new channel
