Dec 12, 2011My Sony internet TV is connected to my (DIR-655) wireless LAN. It is listed on the Status Page and I can identify it by IP address and/or MAC address. The Name field, however is blank. How can I change it so that it is more clearly indicated as my TV connection?

Apr 9, 2012I have a D-Link model DIR-625, and it always seems to disconnect when my mother logs on her computer. Is there some kind of setting on her computer that could be disconnecting us? When my dad is on his I never disconnect which is why I am wondering it must be something on her computer that's interfering with the signal or something. If I reset the router while she's still on, It will disconnect again within a few minutes. So where can I check if it could be her computer that's interfering with the signal?

Jan 30, 2010So i have the Dir-615 and two laptops. Both laptops have windows 7, one with 32 bit and the other with 64 bit. I have had my network setup for months. The 32 bit laptop and my 360 are on the network; the 360 is on a wired connection. I recently purchased the 64 bit laptop and am having problems getting it to connect to the Internet. If I hard wire it in through the modem it will connect. If I try to connect to an unsecured network in my area, I can connect. But for some reason I'm unable to connect through my router. Weather I try and connect wireless or through a cable on the ports on the back. If I try and run the network connection wizard it won't fix the problem. I've tried to unplug the router, reconnect and nothing works. The weird part is that i can connect to the router, but can't access either the settings for the router or the Internet. The graphic that is shown in the network setup wizard shows my router but then shows an X in between the router and the Internet. I have tried everything that I can think of.

My wifi is working with no problem but when I hook up my computer to 1 of the 4 Lan ports I can't seem to connect to the internet I can however log in my router no problem. But I don't get internet access... I wonder what could be the problem. I tried resetting my router and modem to see if just a bug or something but to no avail.

Once fixed, things go on well for a random time (never more then a day). Then, however, they just fall apart.

The router seems to be working fine - I have a LAN connection through it to this computer I'm on now and the PS3 hooked up to the wireless signal just fine. It is the one desktop computer though. The only thing I can think of is that I am using an old g adapter. I didn't think this would matter because the N router can supposedly communicate with g and b devices.

Jun 25, 2011I'm desperately trying to set up my old D-Link DI-524 on my parent's Toshiba laptop...I'm visiting and going thru withdrawals! I've installed it, run the wizard etc but it doesn't work...not even wired. I've tried various cable configurations and I get nothing. Both cables are good and work just fine connected to the modem. I've reset it a few times, upgraded the firmware and still nothing...I'd think I'd at least get it to work hard wired. My laptop can see the network I set up even...but no data transmission. I'm not a wireless expert, but I need to become one fast!

Both computers can upload and download as expected from the internet. Transfers between the two computers though are slow. Both computers are loaded with Windows 7. Transferring files to or from the laptop transfers at 1.5MB/sec to 2 MB/sec.

Ever since upgrading my firmware from 120426 to the latest(121225), one of my computer(windows xp, TP-link Nano) is frequently losing internet connectivity.I purchased the router a month ago and firmware 120426 was the version that came installed. The router would stop working about 3-4 times a week, requiring me to reboot it. Because of this I did some research online and found out about version 121225 which supposedly should improve performance and stability. After the firmware upgrade today I noticed that one of my computer is having a lot of trouble maintaining internet connectivity for more than 30 minutes. When checking wireless connectivity it would say that I am connected and that the signal strength is excellent. I'm also able to ping 8.8.8.8 but not www.google.com(I've tried ipconfig /flushdns and it doesn't solve the problem). I also have trouble accessing or pinging the router(192.168.0.1) with this computer.

Mar 24, 2011I am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit.All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.

Sep 21, 2011I recently bought the D-link DWA 556 wireless adapter. I tried installing it but the computer couldn't find it in the device manager. I tried 3 different slots and I had the same problem each time.
I called tech support and he said that my motherboard must not be compatible with the card. I don't think this is the case but it was the only advice he could give me. I have an MSI P67A-G45 board. I removed all drivers from my previous card before installing the DWA 556 because I heard they can clash with each other.

Mar 27, 2012I bought a DIR-655 a less than a year ago on amazon, and it was working great up until about 4 weeks ago. Ive noticed that it has been dropping alot of packets while I am gaming on my computer. I would run about 95-98 ping usually and now it jitters every 5-10 mins or so from 95-98 to up to 500. It is really troublesome during games and I dont know what to do. Ive tried disabling QoS and still nothing. I run on wireless G and N with auto 20/40 mhz. Standard WPA(personal) and it was running absolutely great until now. I know its the wireless because I have hardwired it into my laptop, both from the router and just the modem itself with no problems whatsoever. I dont know what to do about it.

I went through create a new schedule and did that but again it still connects. Apr 19, 2011i had the dir-655 with desktops and laptops running with xp and win 7, also some other devices such as ipod, iphone, ps3, xbox, problem occura with conflict of network ip address, i think xp and win 7 both login with the same network ip address. So I start to disconnect every device and try to connect each desktop and laptops, one by one, enabled the DHCP and reserve the network ip to avoid conflict. But here's the problem, when I connect the first computer with wired to the dir-655, can't find the computer in the DHCP list so I cannot do the reserve, I'm able to surf internet even I can see info with ipconfig. So I connected 1 wired and 2 wifi to the network, only 1 wifi network ip showing on the list, so I reserve that one, but after I refresh, the DHCP list is empty.

Mar 31, 2013I have two servers running behind my D-Link DIR-655 NAT router. Obviously, I cannot allow outside access to both of them simultaneously without putting them on different external ports, which I don't want to do. (DNS can only redirect to the common external IP of my router, not the unique internal IPs of my servers.) The easiest solution I can think of to this is simply to put one of the servers completely outside of the router so that it grabs its own IP address from Comcast (and thus allows me to change my DNS records so that the destination IPs are different.) Is this possible, and if it is, how do I do it?
P.S. I've already tried putting one server into the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) on my router to no avail.
