Wireless Has Ip Address But Won't Ping Anything

Aug 31, 2011

I have a HP Pavilion DV6000 that I just tried connecting to my network through wireless. It says connected, pulls an IP adress, and gets the gateway but it will not pull up web pages, ping google, or ping any other computers on the network.. I have one other computer connected to the network, wired. It can connect fine to webpages, but it wont ping the HP laptop. The router interface shows that it's giving the HP an IP but thats all it seems to be doing..

Windows XP Cannot Ping Address 169.254.10.10

Aug 28, 2012

I bought a usb printer server to connect my usb printer to my router. USB cable to the print server and cat 5 from the print server to the router. The print server has a static fixed ip of 169.254.10.10 and a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 I can ping the printer server and it works perfect from my windows 7 laptop. When I attempt to set it up on my windows xp (SP3) laptop I am not even able to ping the 169.254.10.10 address. On the windows 7 laptop i can navigate to the print servers menu by placing 169.254.10.10 in the address bar of internet explorer. No so with the xp laptop. What is different about the ip configuration between win xp and win7. how to get the xp laptop to "see" the print server. Want to keep the print server at the default settings if possible.

Ping Returns Same Address All The Time?

Nov 22, 2011

We recently upgraded to Windows 7 at work and my laptop was part of the first deployment. Laptops are imaged so that all configurations/software are already set and done. My problem is as follows, my laptop is part of domain, when I am at work I can ping anything just fine (network computers, printers) BUT when I am at home, I can't even ping my own PC. It returns back with the same address over and over. No matter what I ping when I am at home, it returns back with the same address. I can ping blah and it will display same address over and over. The weird part is I can ping websites no problem, but if i ping random names it will format as follow.Lets say I want to ping lost, below is what i get (I made changes to hide domain and IP)

Pinging lost.domain.com [70.99.199.99] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 70.99.199.99: bytes=32 time=57ms TTL=50
Reply from 70.99.199.99: bytes=32 time=58ms TTL=50
Reply from 70.99.199.99: bytes=32 time=57ms TTL=50
Reply from 70.99.199.99: bytes=32 time=58ms TTL=50

[code].....

Notice how my domain always shows up? When I am connected to the VPN at home, I have to log onto our intranet using the IP, I can't use the name, it wont direct to it.

Cisco VPN :: 5520 - Unable To Ping To NAT Address Over VPN

Dec 14, 2011

i have a site to site vpn stablished, the vpn works fine (while is up), i have a cisco asa 5520 and the other end of the vpn is a jupiter device that for technical reasons needs to send a continuos ping and when it does not receive a reponse back it brings down the vpn tunnel and reestablish it again. while the vpn is up traffic flows perfectly but because i m unable to repond to the ping the vpn is brought down as reestablished by the jupiter device. the jupiter device pings the encryption domain which is an ip that is natted to the real ip in the inside network. this is my configuration of the vpn:

AAA.AAA.AAA.AAA is the ASA public ip in the outside
BBB.BBB.BBB.BBB is the jupiter device ip (part of the object group IP_LIST)
CCC.CCC.CCC.CCC is the nat ip on the ASA
10.21.0.164 is the real address in the inside(code)

- I can ping the modem which means the laptop the link between modem and laptop is working while I can not ping any address or website even the provider's DNS. At the same time, if I connect the LAN cable, every thing is working properly. I tried with different laptops and there was no problem. I have the switch ============>>>>>

As u see above , the inetrface Gi0/6  , Gi0/7  are  connected directly to linux server  by two redundent links .

I mean that Gi0/6 is connected to interface0 in linux server
and Gi0/7 is connect to interface interface1 in linux server

Gi0/6===>vlan 1
Gi0/7===>vlan 2

each interface of linux server has a different ip and different gateway .

Now  from switch, I  make ping to interface 0 of linux server and i have a reply , every thing is ok but when i type the command :
#sh mac address-table  | i Gi0/6

There is no Mac addresses and seems no Mac address relative to Gi0/6, I mean that doesn't it mandatorty to learn the mac address of linux server and write in mac table  relative beside  interface Gi0/6 ? How I could ping the server but no mac beside Gi0/6 ?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560G Can Ping Devices In Enterprise LAN But Cannot Ping Interface

Mar 31, 2012

I have a new 3560G to set up a small network for a remote site. I configured the vlan and an SVI as the gateway. The switch is also the DHCP server for the LAN. I configured Gi0/2 as L3 port, connecting to the nearest neighbor. My network runs EIGRP so i advertised the routes into the EIGRP process. The switch forms EIGRP neighbors and learns all routes in the enterprise network. The problems I'm having now are: 1. The switch learns all routes in my enterprise LAN and can ping devices in the enterprise LAN, but I can’t ping any interface on the switch from the enterprise LAN. 2.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Can Ping From R1 To R3 SVI4 Gateway But Cannot Ping Host

Dec 12, 2011

I set this up and I can ping all the gateways but never the hosts.  I was hoping I could make these links between 6500's a mix of L2 and L3.  Check it out.  They are connected in a linear fashion R1--->R2--->R3.  I can ping from R1 to R3's SVI4 gateway but I can never ping a host on that SVI4.  I was hoping that I could use the port-channels between 6500's as routed links or as trunk links depending on the type of traffic....thought it would ease the migration.  I suppose I could always get rid of the port-channels and just make separate L2 and L3 links between the 6500's.

Can't Ping XBox 360 But Can Ping Other Devices

Mar 1, 2013

I had both a Westell 7500 and a Linksys Router working fine and had my 360 setup as an extender for Windows Media Center so I could stream TV, Music, Movies, etc from my desktop to the 360. Then I switched my modem/router out with a Zyxel PH5001Z

So now today I noticed that I can no longer find my desktop through the XBox. I have adjusted my firewall settings on the modem itself, even completely disabling it. UPnP is enabled for the 360 and the device is showing under my device table. At first I wasn't able to ping any network devices but after creating an ICMPv4 Firewall rule it worked fine. I've confirmed the XBox IP Address through Network Map, the Device Table on the modem and through Network Settings on the XBox. I've diabled my modem firewall as well as Windows Firewall, completely and I still can't ping my XBox or set it up as an Extender.

I have the XBox connected wirelessly using WPA2-Personal and it's operating in 802.11g/n mode.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 To Have Internal Address That Wish To Forward From External Address

Jul 8, 2012

I have an old ASA 5505, and I'm having some trouble with Nat Hairpinning. I've done this with other firewalls before and I am having no luck now. I have an internal address that I wish to forward from an external address- so if someone goes to 123.456.789.012:3456 then it will forward to 192.168.1.244:92 (All numbers are arbitrary here- only for illustration). I have and Access Rule and NAT and PAT set up so that I can get in if I originate from outside the LAN. What I am trying to do is to have this work from inside the LAN as well- so that if I am at my desk, and I connect a device and type in 123.456.789.012:3456, it will deliver the content at 192.168.1.244:92. The problem I am having is that it just isn't working, and I cannot figure out why- When I started here, there was an address configured to work this way, and it still works- I just cannot find what is different between what I am doing and what the person who configured it did.
