Alright so i have restarted my router multiple times and changed the Ethernet cables and everything and i still cant get wireless connectionMy modem is fine because when i plug it directly into my desktops the internet works but when i plug the modem into the wireless router my wireless devices and my desktop doesn't get internet

I live in a fraternity house and we have wireless internet that goes throughout the house but the connection is awful.I can setup my own router in my room?I have an ethernet jack in my room but it doesnt work. I mainly use the internet for xbox live and right now I have a crossover cable going from my computer to my xbox through internet sharing and that sucks too.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Dimension 4400 pc (XP SP3) connected to Linksys WRT54G2 v1.5 router with no issues. Dell Inspirion (XP) connected to router with Linksys WPC54G Wireless notebook adapter with no issues for months. A couple of days ago, purchased a Vizio Blu Ray DVD Player (VBR220) with WiFi. I connected the Vizio to the network by entering the router pin into the Vizio network set up. It worked perfectly. However at the same time, the laptop network connection dropped, and I had not been able to reconnect, although it does recognize the network signal. I click connect to the network, enter the pass phrase (using WEP 26), but it does not connect to the access point. I disabled both firewalls, but still got the same result. I attempted using the WiFi Protected Setup, and the router advised me connection failed, while the laptop advised me the same thing. When I disabled security on the router, I was able to connect to the network via laptop, however, when I restored the security on the router, the laptop could no longer connect. Today, I reset the router, restored factory default settings and reinstalled everything. The laptop was able to connect with no problem. I again connected the Vizio by inputing the router pin into the Blu Ray network settings. Again it connected with no problem, but again the laptop connection was lost immediately, and I'm again unable to restore network connection on the laptop.

Once I start up the computer it works but if I take a break from the computer (computer times off or I close lid) it will stop working. Now, I can connect directly to my computer to my laptop (wired), but when I try and establish the connection between the Cable Modem and the Router...it will show a connection between my PC and my netgear WND3400, but not between the router and the cable modem. Since the House is large 1 Router does not have the Signal strength to cover it all.I have a second wireless Router , a Spare Lan switch and 150ft Ethernet Cord to connect everything.
This all leads me to think that I missed some setting on Router 1.Though I cant figure out what I missed. As i said My Laptop is getting and IP and connected through the Cat 5 cable just fine. Should Router 2 not be able to simply pull an IP from the IP pool Router 1 and use Router 1 as its default Gateway?
I recently replaced a Linksys wireless router with a Netgear wireless router(provided by Comcast) to the modem in my house. I used my HP Pavilion as the computer to run the setup disk and the wireless wizard to link the new router to the modem. I unplugged my HP from the router and proceeded to setup my computer on the wireless network.

The power is back, and we (there's 4 of us in the apartment), can only connect to the internet via ethernet cable. I bought a new Linksys WRT120N modem which is working great, but the wireless for some reason isn't working properly. My computer is able to sense the exsistence of the connection tho. I've tried using other computers to connect to it, and still the same problem, can sense but cannot connect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe setup: My main router is a Belkin N. It is the DHCP controller. I have another Belkin N router connected by CAT5/RJ45, and DHCP is turned off. Each router has a different SSID, and WPA2//AES/TKIP is the security. The purpose of the second router is to act as an access point and extend the wireless range. Now I need to extend it further, but without through wireless. I had a G bridge connected to the second Belkin, and it in turn connected to a third router which was G. This worked but was sporadic. I bought an Amped SR150 N repeater to replace the bridge and third router.The repeater will connect to the second router with no problem. It shows the IP of the main router as the gateway IP. The laptop that the repeater is connected to then received an IP from the main router. However, the laptop has no internet. It also will not go to the IP of the main router.I tested the repeater by connecting it to the main router. That works fine, and the laptop gets internet. I tested the second router capability by connecting the laptop to it through wireless. That works fine to, and the laptop can go to the home page of both the main and second router. When I put the repeater back into the mix, the laptop does the same tihng: It gets a new IP from the main router, but no internet, and it will not go to the homepage of the main router.

The E2500 has an LAN IP of 10.0.0.2 and the router has 10.0.0.1 and a dhcp range outside of these. DHCP is disabled on the E2500. I can use my E2500 as a wired access point with no difficulty I plug something in and it calls the router and gets an address, but I can not get DHCP through the wireless of the E2500.

I have a synology DS411 and a ATV2.DS411 is always downloading from internet,normally the download' bandwidth of DS411 is around 2MB/s.In my old netgear 3800,i just need to active WMM and add a port OQS that the port connection DS411 is low.Then when I watch stream video from internet on my ATV2.I can see the DS411's bandwidth will be reduced automatic.I replaced 3800 with E4200v2 some days before,and I have done the same config ,turn WMM ,set ATV MAC to highest and DS411 MAC to lowest. But when I watch ATV2,DS411's bandwidth seems not be reduced,so I cant get the smooth video Its very bad.

I no longer saw my router listed in my available wireless networks, and neither could my girlfriend from her computer. I unplugged the router to see if one of the available networks had disappeared in case my router had somehow been reset, and nothing changed so my computer isnt even seeing my router. Right now, I am wired through the router so I know the router works, but the wireless part doesnt for some reason. I was looking up stuff in the FAQ, and think the firmware is corrupted since the LEDs are all blinking. I was trying to update my firmware following the instructions I found using tftp.exe, however it failed. One problem is that I can't set up a static IP address since I need to access the web-based utility to check my DNS server but I cannot access the web-based utility anymore (maybe cause of the corrupted firmware?). On a related note, there is someone else in my building using a linksys with the default network name of linksys. I had changed my network's name and security-protected it, though that is all likely gone now since I tried to reset the router. My question is what will the network name of my router be if I saw it since "linksys" is already taken. or will there just be two of them?

Recently I got a Beetel 450BX1 ADSL2 + Router and want to use the wireless capability of the laptop so that I don't have to be glued to my table. The OS I'm using is Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) on an HP Compaq 6515b.I configured the modem by following the instructions in the following link url...I believe that's a straightforward method for configuring a router, and that accomplishing this is very simple.I followed the steps, only changed the username and password to that given by BSNL.Then, finally I unplugged the LAN cable and clicked on Connect to <connection name>, punched in the serial key. But it does not connect and says "Windows was unable to connect". Even after using Windows Network Troubleshooter the problem is not solved.

[code] If I connect my computer to the HAG, it, of course, works fine.Yesterday, I hit the reset button on the back of the conitech router (because they didn't have the password) and went through the setup wizard, connecting my HAG to the WAN port on the router and it worked fine, both connecting via wireless and with a cable to one of the LAN ports on the router.Today it is no longer working. I had to go and press the WSL button on the router. I pressed what I though was the WSL button and now my router doesn't work. I has three lights lit up, the power on light, a small green blinking light and an amber light by the number 1.I've gone to the Netgear website and they want $69 for assistance to get my router up and running. I can buy a new router for that much money. There has to be an easier way.

I used another computer to hook up with the ethernet cable because that wouldn't work wireless for some reason. A little while after that, the Linksys network stopped working completely(all three computers could not access the internet). Now I can only connect to the internet if I use a ethernet cable from the modem.

The Comcast guy hooked everything up along with the WRT54g i found in the basement (previous owner). Everything worked well, he programed the router through his internet pad; never touched my Mac. All of a sudden my power outlet in which my modem and router are connected reset themselves. I reset them back on, however, my router Never worked again. My mac is directly connected to my modem, not router. I have it hooked up on LAN #4 (light turns on), however, after the outlet reset, the router wont even show up on my Modem's LAN. I cant open it open it on my browser, 192.168.0.1, or 1.1. I try the 30-30-30 reset, nothing. While looking for my own remedy, i think i downloaded the new firmware to my mac, nothing happened.
