My laptop computer is having difficulty connecting to a wireless internet. I just bought a brand new router but still having difficulties. Once I start up the computer it works but if I take a break from the computer (computer times off or I close lid) it will stop working. It reads the router but states identifying and has a X between router and internet.

The light is lit up on the router and it even says i have a full three bars on my ipod that im using it with, yet when i try to go on the internet on my ipod it says that im not connected to the internet.I looked on the internet and most websites said to type 192.168.1.1 into your address bar and change some stuff around. The only problem is that when i did this it didn't work and nothing loaded up.

Recently I got a Beetel 450BX1 ADSL2 + Router and want to use the wireless capability of the laptop so that I don't have to be glued to my table. The OS I'm using is Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) on an HP Compaq 6515b.I configured the modem by following the instructions in the following link url...I believe that's a straightforward method for configuring a router, and that accomplishing this is very simple.I followed the steps, only changed the username and password to that given by BSNL.Then, finally I unplugged the LAN cable and clicked on Connect to <connection name>, punched in the serial key. But it does not connect and says "Windows was unable to connect". Even after using Windows Network Troubleshooter the problem is not solved.

We have had no problems until recently, I called the satellite Internet company(which is a local co.) they told me my router was going out. I bought a new one, problem solved! Right?!? WRONG my husband told me my neighbor just got Internet and has been playing Xbox everyday which coincidently is between the 5:30pm to 10ish pm we have been having issues with our router. What can we do to fix this? Do I have to buy a bigger router? He is not stealing off mine because it is password protected that was changed when new router was setup and programmed. I have been running of a Cisco Linksys E2500 advanced dual band n router. The router is in the same room as the TV accessing it, which we previously had no issue connecting anywhere in the house or garage.

I have had a WRT54G V3 router working successfully for a number of years now with a couple wireless PCs through a cable modem with Comcast as my ISP. All of a sudden yesterday, neither PC could access the internet. No changes had been made to the router.
I contacted Comcast and they of course had me hard-wire one of my PCs into the cable modem. That worked and I was able to access the internet. However, when I tried to put the router back in place (in either a wired or wireless fashion), I could not access the internet.
I've tried following the online Linksys troubleshooting document ion. The lights that should be lit on the router are lit. I can access the router setup web page which shows the settings still intact. I've tried going through the power sequencing to no avail. Comcast says my router is the culprit of my problem, but I don't know why it would all of a sudden stop working. My wireless printer still works so it detects a signal and my PC shows it's connected, but no internet access is possible.
What do I need to do? Are there any other diagnostic tools available? I'm out-of-warranty.
i am a using a WRT54GH linksys router.. which was working fine for a year.. there was thunderstorm and lightning a few days back.. since then my routers internet port (the first port which says internet in yellow) has stopped working..

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of trouble with my e4200, It keeps on "dropping" connection, and by dropping I mean it constantly around 3-5 minutes the internet stops working with all my computers, it's connected by wifi with 2 PC's, and 1 PC is wired with an ethernet cable, and I also have 2 mobile devices connected at it. The internet would start working again within 30s, to 1m, but that it drops soon.Methods I've done to fix it:
-Updated firmware to the latest one
-Set the MTU to 1400
-Reset it, (30 second press)
-Rebooted, (Cooled down, doesn't really run hot just a little warm)
-Restored to factore defaults
I purchased an e4200 about 6 months ago and it worked great until the other night the Internet stopped working on my laptop (wireless). I tried unplugging both my modem (Motorola Surfboard) and router and plugging them back in, but no luck. I can accesss the Internet when plugged directly into the router (with both my PC and laptop), so it looks like the issue is with the e4200. To make matters worse (and I fear much worse), I can't even access the admin page to the router through either the Cisco Connect software or through the IP address. I've tried resetting it, I've tried the 30/30/30 reset (holding the reset button while doing an unplug and pluging back in), and reinstalling the Cisco Connect software, all to no avail.
I've found threads where others have not been able to access the admin page, but they still had access to the Internet url... I haven't found a similar thread where the router doesn't seem to work at all. A few other bits of information I can think of (let me know if there's other information I can provide):The Cisco logo light flashes slowly after reset which I believe is expected.The lights in back of the router seem to work as intended.Running Windows 7 Diagnostics finds the connection "doesn't have a valid IP configuration" and "The default gateway is not available."
I have a Linksys WRT54GS2 router, a PC (Windows XP) and a laptop (Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit).I have been using this router for 3 months. I was able to use the internet on both devices simultaneously until now. But suddenly since yesterday it only works for one device at a time, not both.
If I connect to the router then I can access the internet only from the laptop. To use the internet from the PC, I have to power off the router, type in run "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt", and restart the PC. But as the router is off, the internet is inaccessible on the laptop.
While router is on, the PC shows limited or no connectivity.
I tried reseting the router 2-3 times.
On the laptop it sometimes shows "IP address conflict has been detected", even though the IP addresses of the devices were not the same. The IP address of the PC shows 169.X.X.X (when the router is on), whereas the ISP's IP addresses start with 124.X.X.X.
I'm having a networking issue that I cannot resolve.My DirecTV HD DVR receiver (HR21-700) shows a working connection to both my network and internet. However, the STB services port (range of 27161-27192) will not connect through my router (linksys E4200) automatically or manually (Dtv error code 301). By connecting the receiver directly to my modem, the STB services port will connect as it should. I also have a XB360 (LAN), BluRay Player (LAN), two PCs, & Wireless Bridge connected with absolutely no issues. Each are manually configured with a static IP and the proper ports forwarded.I am STUMPED and FRUSTRATED to say the least.Other than the manual setup of these devices, my networking knowledge is not very broad.Are there any settings or configurations that I may be overlooking?The uPnP is enabled, NAT is enabled, and all firewalls are turned off.

I got the blinking indication at Port 1 through 3. The same cable's have no response at Port 4 and Internet port. As a result my I am not able to connect to the internet.

I have done a factory reset which is why this occurred in the first place. So here's my setup:Computer A is connected directly to a cable modem box via USB. Computer B (which is sometimes a laptop and sometimes a desktop) is connected to Computer A and shares its internet connection via Ethernet because I am too cheap to buy a router.A few days ago we borrowed a Belkin wireless router so we could have both desktops, the laptop, and my fiance's iPod Touch access the internet at the same time. That worked fine but once we returned the router and tried to put everything back to normal, it didn't work. The only computer able to access the internet is Computer A (or whichever one is directly connected).I tried resetting the modem and restarting both machines. I tried disabling all of the connections that showed up from using the router.Windows states that the IP isn't properly configured or something of that nature. I tried setting it to automatically set the IP but to no avail.Here is the part that really confuses me - I can access Computer B from Computer A via LAN using the ethernet cable, so the connection between the two computers is fine.

I am not that good at troubleshooting network issue but luckily I was able to figure out a problem I had with internet connection not working through my Linksys router. My computer is connected hardwire through a wireless router (linksys) and I have 3 wireless devices that connect to the wireless router.I have had the wireless router for about a year and half. I set it up myself and have had no problems since day one until today.It was working fine this morning, my computer was on the whole time, I never shut it down and all of a sudden a couple hours later went back to my computer and couldn't access the internet. "No internet access" message on the taskbar right hand side.Not one of my wireless devices connect to the internet including my desktop that is hardwired.
I tried resetting the modem...no luck. I'm thinking outage or something else that had to do with my cable company. I called them, the lady had me try without the router, worked fine, problem with router.I called linksys since I am not good at troubleshooting router issues and did not want to reconfigure everything and start from scratch.The lady at linksys says the router is out of warranty and after a year they cannot provide free tech support and wanted to charge me for either two of their paid tech support which the cheapest was 30 bucks. After some time of trying to figure out the problem I notice my ip address was different.
We lost internet connection and found out that our router's light is off. Is it possible that something is wrong with the adaptor?

When i restart one of the computer, the internet don't work, but the networking is working, i need to reset the modem by unplug and unplug the line of one computer (so only one computer is hook up to swith and then to the router).... after i got the internet connection from that computer, then i can hook up another computer successfully. But after I reboot one computer, the internet connection won't work again

When I am at my mother's place or at school, I have no problem connecting to the internet wirelessly. However, at my father's place, my internet stops working every couple hours and will be unable to connect to the network until i reset the router and modem. Once the reset is complete, I am good for another couple hours. All the other devices ( laptops, iphones, etc.) do not have this problem and the connection is never an issue. I have read that this could possibly be a problem regarding IP addresses but I do not quite understand how to fix this.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys RPT300 (firmware 3.1.27) which I need to pass magic packets on port 9 to internal computer. on LAN the WOL works perfectly.I have masked my local lan to 255.255.255.128 to be able to broadcast on another subnet address than x.x.x.255 which the web interface dont seem to allow.Local LAN is 192.168.15.x and I have created a port forward on port 9 UDP to local broadcast address wich would then be 192.168.15.127. However nothing comes through and I cant seem to find a setting to enable/disable internet broadcasts. Is there a work around?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically, my internet's been fine until about a week ago. I'm currently using the Aztech DSL1000EW router/modem which has been working great up to now. My problem is this: after about 5-30 minutes (time fluctuates, annoying because after 15 minutes of continuous usage you think the problem's solved!) all webpages suddenly become 'unavailable'. I've disabled proxies under LAN settings, tried flushing DNS, resetting winsock with the netsh commands but to no avail. To get the internet to work again, I can just go to my router page, click disconnect and reconnect and it'll work for another 5-30 minutes.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI had to move to a remote area in which I can only use a 3G mobile internet connection. The 3G connection is working fine, that is until I plug in my Asus RT-N12 router in order to create a wireless home network between our computers (for file and printer sharing).
For me it seems like firefox is trying to connect to internet trough the router. But that is not possible, since the router has no internet. The only internet is from the 3G mobile internet stick.
How can I tell firefox, that it should look for internet in the 3G connection instead of the router?
We have FIOS at our home. All the wall connections for ethernet are wired to the control panel in our house which are then connected to a wired router. We have another wireless router in the upstairs which gets internet through the wall port and it works fine.We had another downstairs wireless router in the living room that was working fine as well, but I reset it for certain reasons and it no longer works properly. All the proper lights light up: internet, port, power but the computer can only connect to the network and not the internet for some reason.
