D-Link DWL 520+ / Get Wireless Adapter To See The IP Address?
Dec 9, 2011I have a D-Link DWL 520+ on my motherboard I can't get the wireless adapter to gain the IP address. I have tried to reboot and uninstall and reinstall, and repair. I have tried the hardware manager and several drivers from around the world (all being the same). Again the adapter can see the internet and connect with my router but it will not pickup the IP address. How do I get the wireless adapter to see the IP address?

May 7, 2011Im using an old tower with XP SP3. Most if not all drivers are up to date.I recently have come home from college where the computer connected to the internet through a cable and i now have to use wireless.I went out and bought a Trendnet TEW-648UB Wireless n adapter, installed it and tried to connect to my home network.It has been going from acquiring network address to no connection every ten seconds then repeating. I am fairly sure that this is not the router because i am on my sisters desktop which is a wireless connection and im on the internet. so far i have:
checked to make sure that WZC is enabled, it is.
tried checking and unchecking the Use Windows to to configure my wireless network settings
enabling and disabling my adapter
reinstalling my adapter
repairing connection
disabling any and all firewalls
ipconfig /release
ipoconfig /renew
netsh int ip reset reset.log
netsh winsock reset catalog
lots of computer restarting
and for good measure i pinged 192.168.4.1 and ping 24.229.54.212 not sure why but kinda frustrated so why not

Mar 5, 2012having a problem with my Linksys wireless adapter: the light will flash a few times when I plug it in, then it will turn off. It won't let me connect to the internet or my printer.It's not the port: it is recognized when I put it in any other port, but it still won't connect. I think it's a virus, but my antivirus software isn't showing anything when I run a full scan (I use Malwarebytes Free). I'm gonna put AVG on a flash drive from another computer and try to use that later today, but right now I've been thinking that I might have to back everything up and reinstall windows.

This is for peering between the two. The error they see on the Sidewinder is:So instead of seeing the external peer address he sees a 10.220.3.18 address. Jul 8, 2012I have an old ASA 5505, and I'm having some trouble with Nat Hairpinning. I've done this with other firewalls before and I am having no luck now. I have an internal address that I wish to forward from an external address- so if someone goes to 123.456.789.012:3456 then it will forward to 192.168.1.244:92 (All numbers are arbitrary here- only for illustration). I have and Access Rule and NAT and PAT set up so that I can get in if I originate from outside the LAN. What I am trying to do is to have this work from inside the LAN as well- so that if I am at my desk, and I connect a device and type in 123.456.789.012:3456, it will deliver the content at 192.168.1.244:92. The problem I am having is that it just isn't working, and I cannot figure out why- When I started here, there was an address configured to work this way, and it still works- I just cannot find what is different between what I am doing and what the person who configured it did.

Jun 1, 2012We have an ADSL connection and use a D-Link DSL-320B modem. We have a D-Link DIR-120 router connected to this modem. This has worked perfectly fine up until today when we disconnected the router and connected a computer (call it A) directly to the modem because it was getting an unusable connection through the router for some reason. We later also performed a factory reset on the DIR-120 router.
Unfortunately, after the above steps the router did not receive any IP address (through DHCP) from the ADSL connection anymore. During my attempts to debug this I noticed that my laptop (call it B) didn't get any IP address either (when connected directly to the modem). I noticed the following syslog entries repeating over and over while trying to connect: [code]
At this point computer A could still get a connection just fine tho (when connected directly to the modem).
I then tried to change the MAC address of the router to an arbitrary one (a copy of computer B's MAC address but with the last digit increased by one). The router still did not get assigned any IP address. Finally I tried making the router clone the MAC address of a third computer (call it C). C has never been connected directly to the modem. Doing this worked. After cloning the MAC address of computer C the router is immediately assigned an IP address and the internet connection works as it did prior to all this.
Now, my question is, why would computer B and the original MAC address of the router not be able to get an IP address while two other computers worked just fine? Why would changing to an arbitrary MAC address not work while cloning the MAC address of another computer did? Could the router's MAC address have been blocked by the ISP for some reason (and what could cause this)?
but my situation seems more like a blacklisting of some MAC addresses rather then allowing just a single MAC address.

How To Share USB Wireless Adapter
Mar 25, 2011I am living on a houseboat, and the home owner where I moor the boat has provided an unsecured wireless network for my internet usage. I have a USB wireless adapter that is mounted on the roof of the boat giving me great reception. I have successfully been using it so far. The problem is... I have a laptop as well and to date I've been unplugging the roof mounted USB adapter from the tower and moving it to the laptop when accessing the internet from the laptop.I'm confident there is some way to run the roof mounted adapter to one machine and allow both machines to use this internet connection, but so far I haven't been able to make it work. When I try to turn on Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) I get an ip error ( "There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network"). I can't make any adjustments to the router, as I don't have access to it.So I have this hardware to work with:A laptop with wireless built in a tower with 2 available wireless adaptors (including the roof mount)A wireless router (but no wired internet connection).

It's been approximately a week, and the computer has been on most of the time...roughly 8-12 hours of a day, not in use the whole time, however. Then today when I booted up my computer, the wireless adapter didn't turn on! It's like a little USB thingy...and when i took it out, it was extremely hot, even though it wasn't doing anything! I tried multiple USB slots as well, to no avail...What basically happens is I put in the CD-rom installation disk, then when it prompts me, I plug in the adapter...and then it takes me to the connect to network screen, at this point the adapter has it's little wireless light blinking, then I try to connect to network, the light stops blinking and turns off, and it just tries connecting to the network for an eternity.
