I live in apt complex where the wireless Internet is built into the price. I want to connect a router to the wireless via the WAN port and then have my computers on a separate LAN than the rest of the apartment complex. Do they make a router that will take wireless in and out?

I have 2 laptops with wireless N adapters that will connect at a maximum of only 72Mbps. I've tried changing the security mode to WPA2 Personal, channel width to 40 MHz only, and 20MHz only. I've changed the network mode to N only. I've updated the drivers on the adapters and ran the update on the E2500 router. I get the same 72Mbps if the laptops are right next to the router. How can I get the connection speed faster?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI saw a thread from early 2010 which described the issue I am currently having to a T. I am on a Belkin Wireless G with Mimo router and it runs perfectly either on LAN or WLAN, until my new roommate's MacBook gets on there at the same time. As soon as the MAC connects, I get a blue screen of death and the PC restarts. I have been battling this issue for over a week now and have absolutely narrowed it down to the Mac/wireless area.
I have already uninstalled/reinstalled my wireless drivers and thought that had fixed the issue(it worked fine for 4 days), until the roommate returned from out of town and connected the Mac to the Wireless....then WAMMO, like clockwork, back came the BSoD. This seems like a very unique problem, as I have done many searches online and the one I mentioned on here is the only one I could find that accurately described my issue.
For reference, I have posted the link to the previous case below. Unfortunately, no solutions, other than reinstall drivers (which I have already done) are posted. I tried everything in that thread and my settings appear to all be the same as his. Is it possible this is just some rare Windows 7 glitch that has never been resolved?

I have wireless internet at home through a Belkin router.It used to work fine but one computer wouldnt connect. I tried checking the security password on my laptop and ever since it won't connect. (However, now the other computer does!) It picks up the signal from the router but just won't connect. When I run ipconfig I get a message saying Media Disconnected. I've searched forums and can't find an answer to this.The laptop still connects to the wireless internet in my office so the wireless capability obviously still works.

It's been set at wpa2/wpa mixed mode all this time without a problem. Out of the blue: no wireless connection on any device. I restarted the modem, router, PC's, phones, etc. I've updated the firmware. The only way I can get a wireless connection is to use wep. How can I get the better security and speed of wpa2 back?

But I can see the network, I can ping every computer on the network, just can't get to the internet.Reinstalled all the drivers, tried renew, netsh commands, flushdns, disabled & reenabled. 2 other computers connect to the internet and each other with no problem. Can connect to other WI Fi's too, but still no internet access.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter a couple of hours using the internet, the connection stopped. The wireless router still had an 'Excellent' signal, but it also said I had no internet access. All of the other wireless devices in my house connect to the internet perfectly, including when right next to the laptop.I've tried disabling the firewall and resetting the computer a few times, but nothing seems to pick up the internet access. The troubleshooting guide tells me that it is a problem with the wireless modem, but quite obviously that isn't true.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Dimension is no longer connecting to the internet via the wireless router. I have a dlink DI-524 and a dlink wireless USB key but it no longer connects. This just started today. When I try to repair the connection, it fails on "renewing IP".
OS is Windows XP.
P.S. I have tried power cycling the modem/router but nothing works. Other computers can get on the internet via the wireless router fine.
I put a password on my WRT54GC ver 2.0. After that i couldn't access internet. It keeps authenticating and never connects.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT 160N v2 router. There's 1 computer wired to it, that works fine. Then I have 2 laptops and a pc wireless to it. One laptop is a mac and that seems to be fine, another is a Compaq notebook that has trouble connecting and the pc has the same problem. The signal strength is very good to excellent so thats not the issue. What happens with the pc is, it will connect but at times its only for a few seconds then it disconnects. Sometimes restarting the computer fixes it for a while but it will eventually start having the problem again. It detects the wireless network just fine, and the router's firmware is up to date. I have a feeling that its the settings in the router but im not sure what to change.

There are 3 computers that connect wirelessly: a 8-year-old desktop with a Netgear USB adapter, a 1.5 year old laptop and a 3.5 year old netbook, both with internal wireless cards. The desktop and netbook are running Windows XP and the laptop runs WIndows 7.
The desktop (XP) and laptop (Windows 7) are able to connect with no problem. However, the netbook (XP) is having problems connecting. It is able to connect to the router using the WPA2 key, and says it has excellent signal. However, when I start up an internet browser, it gives me a DNS error for any page I try to access. Connecting directly to the router with a cable works fine.
I got on the phone with Linksys support. They told me the problem was that the computer wouldn't use WPA2, but when I switched to WEP, it didn't work at all! I switched back to WPA2 and have the same problem as before: it connects to the network but DNS error messages for any website I try to access (And I've tried both Chrome and Explorer).
To make things more interesting, I set up a guest network on the router, and the netbook connects fine through that so far!
Have two other computers that connect with ease to the Netgear wireless router, but the new computer will not access the internet. I have been searching for answers and have tried about everything I can find nuder similar posts, but I still have not internet access. At varying times, I have had "internet access", but no actual ability to load websites. Right now, I do not even have access. The problem: My laptop connects to the secure network without prompting for a password,but then does not connect to the internet at all. This same laptop easily connects to the internet via the network as a guest, just as it should. For some reason when I put my computer to sleep at night and wake it up in the morning, my computer will not connect to 5ghz. It will work fine with 2.4, both are set in auto, so I dont see any issues. I did try to put 5ghz to a manual setting; wpa2, 40 mhz, and channel 161. I still get the same results. My computer and iPod touch both recognize the router's signal and connect to it, but I can't access any Web sites after that (both work fine on other wireless networks). I can, however, access the Web via the cable modem, but when I plug an Ethernet cable into one of the ports on the Linksys router, I have the same problem as when I'm connecting wirelessly. So far, I've tried resetting the router (with the reset button on the back), updating the firmware, changing settings (beacon interval, frag & RTS thresholds....saw that suggested on other forums) & leaving the network unsecured (it's currently WPA2/TKIP & AES, what it was originally).Is it safe to say this router's done for, or is there anything else I can do to resurrect it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT54G working throughout our home. It has 4 hardwired ethernet connections, and several wireless connections working without any issues. Currently my Droid phone, iPad tablet and 2 laptops connect and get through to the internet via wireless connection.
Today I purchased a new TF700T Asus Infinity Tablet. I'm able to get it to connect to the router, see the network, and the router can see the Infinity Tablet (assigns an IP address), but no internet access.
what tools I can use to see where the traffic from the tablet is being blocked. The log on the router doesn't show me anything. I'm assuming there's a port or ports being blocked by the router, but no idea which ones.
Already tried hard resets and a firmware upgrade to no avail. In fact the latest firmware upgrade (4.21.5) hosed the entire network so I reverted back to 4.21.1

I have all the computers working fine in the house except my desktop. it connects fine to the network, can see the other computers on the network, can even do a windows update. But when I go to use google chrome or internet explorer it just wont access the internet. View 4 Replies View Relatedi can only connect to my router at 144mbps(wireless N) every so often i notice my router will channel bond to 11+7, and i can connect at 300mbps!(lasts like 5 minutes) then just randomly dies and will only reconnect at 144mbps. Its not a wireless card problem since my old netgear 3700 died on me it connected up just fine at 300mbps.i use inSSIDer and i can verify that it only connects using 1 channel(i've set to auto) and tried setting to each individual channel.

I have an E900 I replaced an old Airport Extreme with. The reason was for increased download speed. The Apple router I used saw my work network and I could access files and printers; no changes to my Mac were necessary. It worked out of the box. The new Linksys has Internet connectivity but will not see my work network at all. I have looked into the old settings and cannot figure out how to make the new router see my network. I called Linksys but no dice. What settings need to be changed to see the work network? It is connected to the same ethernet cable as the other router that worked fine.
