I'm home from school for the summer and trying to access my parent's DSL by adding my router as a middleman. I tried the basic hookup (wall->modem-->router-->computer) using a Motorola MSTATEA modem and a Cisco E1000 linksys router

I plugged a phone into the box outside and I had a dial tone. When you try to call my house it just keeps ringing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using Cisco 2100 cable modem. It worked fine until some time later where the Data Send & Receive LED's stopped blinking. A man came to check if the cable was the problem by replacing it, but it wasn't. He claims it might be related to the laptop. I have tried several times restarting it. (I'm using mobile broadband) I would really like fast rather than slow internet ( I was limited so now it's slow but free)

I followed their instructions and set up my broadband. connection is working fine through the LAN, and I can connect to the wifi on my phone but when I try to connect my laptop via wifi it says it's connected but I can't access the internet and it looks like it's sending packets but not receiving.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo i have 2 laptops and various phones and iPods hooked up to my network via the wireless and have 3 computers, 2 PS3s, 2 XBox 360s hooked up via LAN cable (These are not always running all at the same time). From time to time (it varies on time of day) the internet disconnects from all the computers in the house but the LAN stays connected. It will sometimes come back online if you wait anywhere from 30 seconds to half an hour at times. Manually restarting the modem by unplugging it for a while and plugging it back in sometimes works, at other times it does not. We replaced the switch and the router so far trying to eliminate them as the problem to no avail. We have not replaced the modem yet. My ipconfig info is below:

I just bought a DIR-835 Router. the wireless works good-the problem however is the PC I have hooked up to the cable box, now the internet works only occasionally. I have tried disabling the firewall ,etc. The only time I can get the internet on the cable box connected PC to work is when I reset the router. I have a Gateway PC with Windows XP, I use Google Chrome. I assume it must be a Router setting that needs correcting. My previous D-Link router worked fine with the cable connected PC.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor home use, I have a Windows Vista PC which is hooked up to the Internet via a wireless EV/DO modem that plugs into a USB port. I just bought an iPad and for connectivity, I then bought a WRT120N wireless router. But I cannot attach the EV/DO modem to the WRT120N since the EV/DO only has a USB port. I plugged the PC into one of the 4 ports of the WRT120N and the iPad sees the router, but what I would like is that it also sees the internet when the PC is online via the EV/DO modem. Is there a way to configure this? I realize that the PC would always have to be switched on if I want to have the iPad online, but for the time being I am ok with that.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 3g usb modem hooked up to my main Windows xp laptop. I'm also sharing that 3g connection with ICS out the ethernet port on the laptop to my wifi router.
All works ok and I'm able to browse from all computers connected to the wifi router except when I turn on the main laptop's wifi to connect to the same wifi router that it's connected to through ethernet for ics.
I am able to ping google and stuff and also use skype but I can't browse the web on any browser. If I turn off the wifi card on that laptop then I'm able to browse again with no problem on the main laptop and on all other connected computers.
I'm not sure but I'm guessing that the browsers are trying to connect through the wifi connection and no longer through the 3g usb modem?
The reason that I turned on the wifi connection of the main laptop to connect to the router is because connected to the router is also my security cameras dvr system and this way I can see my cameras on this main laptop.
So in other words, I have to turn off my main laptop's wifi connection to be able to browse the web but then I cant access the security system's dvr any longer.
My router's ip is 192.168.1.1
My dvr's ip is 192.168.1.100
My laptops' ip is 192.168.0.1

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got home from the Comcast store with a $7 rented modem just to last me until I do research and purchase one. I realize that this modem has only one Ethernet port with no WiFi support so I have another PC and a laptop sitting idle because there's no internet access. Did a quick search using Comcast's authorized modem's list and all of them only have a single Ethernet port and no WiFi. Is there a modem with multiple Ethernet ports with built in WiFi? I am getting almost 20mbps with a download speed of 4mb/s which is a HUGE improvement over my ATT DSL service that I've had since forever at 3mbps with a download speed of 300kb/s. I have no idea what technical specifications to look for in a cable modem to get 100% of full potential speed from my service without disconnects or other various problems.
I have a ATT U-Verse router sitting here right now, I am wondering if I can somehow connect it to my Comcast modem. I tried to connect the ATT router into Comcast modem via Ethernet cable, but I couldn't get past the "Your DSL service is unavailable" in the browser, but in my desktop system tray, it shows I am connected to the internet. If I could use this router, I would rather spend money on a modem instead of getting a combo.
