View 1 Replies View RelatedAt one of our offices, we have a Cisco ASA5505 firewall that has dhcp enabled. I have a WRT54G router plugged into that firewall with DHCP enabled. The scope of our inside network is 192.168.51.***, however when connected to the WRT54G, it gives you the scope of 192.168.1.***We have an antenna amplifier screwed into one of the antenna ports on the router. This whole setup works fine.
The problem is we need to install an access point WAP54G in a building across the property (picks up router wireless signal fine) to repeat the wireless signal to the back of the property where the router will not reach. I have read that all you need to do is type in the wireless mac address of the routher into the access point and select "Wireless Repeater". I have the channels set to 6 on both devices as well as the same security configuration. When I try to connect to the wireless network on the access point, It never gives me an ip in the 192.168.1.*** scope, which the WRT54G is configured to give out. Also, in this setup does the WRT54G need to be set to router or gateway mode? I do not need it to distribute ip addresses. [code]

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WAG200G, I only use it for 2 devices a Win 7 PC and an iPad.
Surfing the net is fine, I'm get an average of 30ms when I ping to my local ISP.
But when I try to stream music or movies from my PC to iPad via iTunes, it starts playing for a couple of seconds then it stops, and then it will start again for a few more seconds. I tried pinging from PC to iPad and get a range from 400ms-2500ms.
I'm not sure which settings I need to adjust to make it work correctly.
I have a Wrt160n router and a Motorola sb120 modem (provided by comcast after my original modem got fried by lightning, no I didn't have my router hooked up when that happened), I have been having trouble trying to get the modem to send the internet signal to my router. I have tried mac address clone that was suggested on this forum for someone with a different router but still no internet to my computer, its all hooked up through Ethernet cables, the computer I have it hooked up with a hard line is running windows seven. When I plug the modem straight to the computer it works and I have internet but when I hook up the router between them it has no internet.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a broadband connection through a TV cable connection to a ISP provided modem/wireless box. I have a wireless network set up already from this box. I wanted to extend the wireless network to a hard to reach area so i bought a seperate router (d-Link DIR-615 revE3).
I connected one of the 4 LAN outputs from the modem to the router's "Internet" input. Windows 7 detected the new router's wireless network and guided me through setting up a name and password for it. However there is actualy no internet access on this network even though it's directly connected to the modem.I was thinking that i wanted to just extend the original wireless network but a new network is fine if only it would use the internet from its LAN connection... a desktop computer has connected from the same LAN output of the modem without any security and been able to access the internet from it.
I have a WLC 4404. I added a new AP to the network and it is associated with the WLC now. But still its not braodcasting the ssids. I compared the configuration with the ones installed before and configuration is same.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Wi-Fi booster that can connect to remote distance networks, and I want to share the Wireless Networks that the booster connects to all the local computers in its range (maybe in Ad-Hoc?). The computer that has the booster has it's own separate built-in Wi-Fi.
For example, the booster gets a signal from Wi-Fi network A, and I want Network A to be broadcast to the computers who can't receive Network A's signal. I really don't mind how this is done, preferably without having to buy new hardware.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI used to have an HP Pavillion p6340f desktop computer, and then I decided to build my own. I moved the parts I'd installed in it over the years to the new build, plus the wireless card that came with the Pavillion. Strangely, with the same drivers and setup, the card refuses to find any WiFi signals - not the one it was connected to prior to the move nor the other networks around the area. Changing the drivers, uninstalling the device, rebooting - nothing will work. The symptoms are exactly the same as when I moved the card to another slot on the Pavillion.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOur wireless router is in a room at one end of the house (beside the telephone point) from which ethernet cables can connect to the Cat5 sockets taking the broadband to the other rooms that have a Cat5 socket. That is fine for connecting devices to the sockets in the other rooms but because the house is old with thick walls our wifi signal fades to nothing in some parts of the house. Moving the wireless router only moves the problem to another area. I thought about a wifi repeater but the room I would like to locate it in to then boost the signal to the rest of the house is borderline on the range for the wireless router. Is it possible to connect another wireless router or device to the main wireless router through the Cat5 cabling so that the second router/device can offer wifi to that area of the house?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two WRT54GS routers. I want to extend my WiFi from the router connected to my upstream in the office to a second router in the living room. I want devices configured for the SSID and passphrase of my current WiFi (which is find in the office) to work seamlessly in the living room. I understand I can do this by running a cable and configuring router 2 as a client of router 1 with router 2 exposing the same SSID and passthrase on a different channel.
But I really don't want to run a cable. There is a point where a client can see router 1 where an AP would cover the living room.
Can I put router 2 at that point, have it connect wirelessly as a client to router 1, and have it expose as an AP using the same SSID and passphrase? Can this be done without wiring the router?
I assume that the E4200 uses VLANs for the the guest network. Is it possible to trunk the LAN interface and pass that vlan to the switch so that you can pass the vlan to an AP?Would be great to see the Guest wireless on the Cisco 1250 like I do the main SSID.
