I have a TP link TD-W8901g modem router with 1 wan and 4 LAN. My questions is can i use this modem to receive wifi signals through wan and give out through lan. i currently use internet from telephone cable. But i have got a free hot spot near my home. Currently i Am using a pc without wireless card.

My web browsing/surfing speed decreases when I'm transferring files between other computers which are connected to this modem, and when a torrent client is downloading from 20+ seeds. I want to give the HTTP connections (port 80) the highest priority possible, so that my connection wouldn't delay when non-HTTP connections are active.The interface of the modem related to QoS settings are as below:What QoS settings should I enter (what rule(s) should I define) for giving HTTP protocol higher priority?

I found out that I cant access my modem (TP-Link W8901G) config page at 192.168.1.1. I was pretty sure my ID and password is correct since I never changed them. It is also unlikely that the password got changed by other people who are stealing my Wi-Fi as I turned my WLAN on only when I requires the connection then it get turned off afterwards.

I have zeroed in on TP-Link TD-W8901G having 4 RJ-45 ports, 1 USB port, 1 RJ-11 port and also it is a wireless router. Currently I would be connecting the above modem router to my desktop running Linux and using the same ISP with ADSL. Considering a future scenario where I may decide to use another way to connect to the Internet like maybe 3G or Cable, etc (with their separate modems) I was wondering if my same modem router (TD-W8901G) could be used as a standalone router for connecting the devices on my home network. Basically, what I want to know is whether this modem router would be able to share an Internet connection from some other source, other than the one provided through its own RJ-11 (ADSL) source?

I used the url filter utility inside the router program. I put some url for example www.google.com, I wanted to try the filtering cababilty, Later I deleted all these adresses , but unfortunatley it keeps telling me the following message: "The system returned: (110) Connection timed out The remote host or network may be down. Your cache administrator is webmaster@proxy1."

I am writing in from Cuenca, Ecuador. I have a TD-W8901G Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router. I have accessed the interface using the default ip address:192.168.1.1.When I select Interface Setup from the menu, it only shows Internet and LAN as the only 2 options. Wireless is no longer there. It just disappeared! The LED indicator light for WLAN is also "OFF." When you try the Quick Start wizard guide, it cannot complete the setup because there is an IP address error.
I have changed the firmware 2x since, trying to remedy this, I have also tried factory resets at least 3x. Nothing has worked up to this point.

Everytime, I turn on the ADSL2+ wireless modem router, it connects to the internet and my laptop gets paired with the wireless network but after 30 mins time, wireless ADSL2+ router restarts itself and goins in a loop for nearly 5 times and then it gets connected to internet but then I cannot connect my laptop to the the router using wireless with error DHCP failed to assign IP but DHCP is enabled in the router. This has started since a month and I had tried several network change settings but nothing has given me a solution. I do use Kaspersky IS through which the connection flows in. My internet setting is set to use Automatic DNS discovery and most time, I get RC 102 DHCP error.

I have tried mac address clone that was suggested on this forum for someone with a different router but still no internet to my computer, its all hooked up through Ethernet cables, the computer I have it hooked up with a hard line is running windows seven. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy ISP gave me a Thomson THG520 modem when I subscribed to their service. It has 2 links and USB and an Ethernet link. It worked fine with our 2 computers but for several weeks or so I experiencing that it only gives me IP address only on one interface that one that's first plugged into the computer.
If I reset the modem and plug in the USB I get an IP address immediately. If I unplug the USB and plug in the Ethernet cable I don't get an IP address. If I reset again the modem and plug in the Ethernet cable I get an IP address but not on the USB link after I unplug the modem.
EDIT: after entering the modem's administration I realized it's firmware was updated (probably my ISP did it.). Also I read about how this stuff works, there is an evidence that my ISP set the CPE limit to 1. (so it seem only one computer connected to the modem can get IP address while the other can't.). And this configuration is stored on the modem somewhere. Is there a way to view it somehow?
i use my sim card in modem connected to pc to surf. is it possible to receive calls as i surf through this sim card?

I purchased this TD-W8960N cause I thought it was a powerful beast, but it is not unless mine it is defective. On my mobile phone it shows -25 to -30 dBm at less than 10 inches away from the router antennas. In some places at home my phone disconnects when the signal drops below -70bm, however my laptop it is always connected because of the better antenna.
That's fine BUT, I installed my old Linksys WRT54G and the phone shows -3dB at the same distance from the antennas. Or is it that I overvalued the TP-LINK?Does anyone have compared signals with other routers. Should I assume that mi router is defective? Any trick to squeeze more power other than replacing antennas?

Without the router, my uplink works fine. The provider does not lock onto a specific MAC adress.
