Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 - Restore Previous Version Of Firmware?
Dec 27, 2012I have an E4200 router with 3 WET610N access points. I did the firmware update on the E4200 router about 2 weeks ago so my son could use his xbox when he got home after 4 months of being away. Everything seemed to work OK as far as I could tell....but when he went to sign into xbox live and watch Netflix, it will load to 98% and stop. A friend of his came over with the new Slim xbox 360 with built in wireless and it will connect fine on its own, if we hook up one of the 610N's to it, it will load to 98% on Netflix and stop again with error code R8152. Both of my older xbox's will hook up and play on xbox live, just not work with Netflix.
I also noticed, it shows the WET610N as a hard wire on xbox and will not search for any wireless networks, I have 2. The newer Slim xbox360 will search out both networks on its own if you allow it to use its internal wireless. This only happened since the firmware update. And this equipment was working fine before this. Is there a way I can restore the previous version of firmware?

Sep 24, 2011My download speed has decreased to about 1/40th of its previous speed, while my upload speed remains the same. Speedtest shows that my connection is equally strong as it was prior to the slowdown, even though I can't even get anything close to my original speed.Fully detailed version: About a week ago, my download speed decreased from 2 megabytes/s to about 50 kb/s. Prior to the speed decrease, I did not install or update any programs, so it's probably not an interference from some wayward program. I've likewise not encountered any suspicious activity on the computer, nor have I visited suspicious sites, so it probably isn't a virus either. There are several odd things, however. While my download speed has dropped so dramatically, my upload speed is exactly the same. According to a Speedtest.net check from August, my download speed was 8.5 mb/s and my upload speed was 4.14 mb/s. Currently, it is practically the same, at 4.09 mb/s. What is really strange, however, is that according to the Speedtest from today, my download speed is 9 mb/s, even though I can still not exceed 50 kb/s.I tested IDM (download accelerator) on some of my skydrive files, since download accelerators allow for multiple streams of data simultaneously. I was able to download around 500 kb/s, which is still not even close to what I used to be able to reach from skydrive with IDM before (~2000 kb/s), but still much higher than if I only used one download stream (~50 kb/s).
Additional info: Browsing speed and video streaming is also much slower than usual.
Delete Previous Username Without Password After Making New One?
Jun 2, 2011I made a new connection with a password. And I have deleted the old connection on the "Manage wireless connections" But the old connection still appears on the Wireless connections. I don't want my neighbors to connect to the old one since it has no password, and I can't figure out how to delete it.

Jul 19, 2011I just flashed this router with DD-WRT about a week ago inside the webui that was provided. It all went well but I wanted to go back to the original factory firmware so turned it off for 20 seconds, and held the reset button for 10 seconds to reach the emergency-room. I re-flashed it with the firmware I got from d-links website and all went well. So I tried to go to 192.168.0.1 that did not work so I tried the ip that I gave it before it was flashed and it still remained x.x.x.254. I also turned off dhcp server since my isp's modem provides that and other services. But when I looked into the logs it would keep starting up dhcp server every minute which would lead to all kinds of problems.
Edit: The ip/subnet are set to 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0. It seems to start this as soon as dhcp is disabled.

Oct 29, 2012I was handed a firewall ASA 5520 but without external flash, I want to confirm that the ASA at least boot from rommon mode boot must have the external flash connected? I connected to power and I connect it by the console port it did not show any boot.Additionally I can confirm it is possible that you can connect a flash of a previous ASA model, say a 5510?

Jun 5, 2011I've been using a WUSB600N wireless adapter with my WRT610N router for quite some time and it has been very stable for quite some time. A few months ago, I switched to a new computer, basically the same model (both computers ran Win7 64bit) except with more hard drive space and two extra cores. I then moved the old computer to the router for a direct connection, moved the new computer in the same exact place as the previous computer, and set up the WUSB600N on the new one. However, on the new computer, my connection has been extremely unstable. Sometimes the connection works fine, but other times there are long periods of no connection (though the computer tells me that I'm connected) and download speeds are horrid during this time period. What is causing the instability after only getting an upgrade to the previous computer?

May 8, 2007I am an IT professional that is installing my first extended range wireless AP in my companies warehouse. I am very excited!
Now I have set up many a linksys and repeater wireless networks, so when I was looking into the Aironet 1240AG I thought ?No Problem!?
And at first, it is not!
I have the AP and antenna set up here in my office before I take it out and mount it in the warehouse. And I can get connected to it, no security for now, no filters, I just want to connect and make it work.
I stay connected for maybe 3 minutes, I can get to the internet, I can ping all my servers. Full connectivity. But then for no reason the connection fails and I cannot reconnect.
The error I get in the log is
Interface Dot11Radio0, Deauthenticating Station 0006.2510.bbe3 Reason: Previous authentication no longer valid
So strange! So I have reset the AP to factory defaults and then set the SSID, and I can connect, again for a second, then nothing.
I have tried with multiple wireless cards, even laptops. Thinking maybe the problem was on the computer side.

Dec 2, 2011I was very happy working with my WRT610N connected to the ethernetport of my previous internet modem. Recently I had to switch to a new modem CISCO EPC3925. Unfortunately this combination does not work anymore. I don't get an internet connection on my WRT610N anymore. I therefore have to connect all computers (LAN and WIFI) to this EPC3925. Especially for the WIFI I'm not fully happy. My IPAD2 sometimes does not want to connect, a problem which never occurred when connecting to WRT610N.
I probably need to change a setting, but where? In the EPC3925 or in WRT610N?

All my other settings seem to be working (and staying) but unless my camera is on all the time, it reverts to 01-01-2011 with a 12:00 am time once I plug it in. I only hook the camera up during the day while I'm at work, so I can keep an eye on my older dogs. I'm not able to view the live video at work (ActiveX issues) so I tried to set up an email schedule so I would be sent pictures.
As a last resort, I went through the wizard set up one more time, thinking I missed something the first time around, but that didn't work either. I am not impressed with D-link support so really don't want to call them unless I absolutely have to.

Apr 27, 2012Last night, I lost my NetFlix connection. It was no biggy, I just restarted the Cheers episode that I had been watching. This morning, I checked the DIR-655 log and the following is what I had found (date and times aren't accurate).

Promiscuous Mode is usually the result of sniffing according to Wiki. Whatever is promiscuous mode. Also, I don't know what device br0 is. I do have my Brother wireless printer connected to the DIR-655 but it's device name is BRW0022581FB096. I was wireless at the time of connection problem, and the wired computer connected to the DIR-655 had been off.

Jul 17, 2011I have a DIR-825 router connected to my cable modem. The 2.4ghz constantly goes down but not the 5.0ghz. Our wireless devices will see the connection but we are unable to connect.We only have one device that uses the 5.0 and multiple devices that use the 2.4 and none of them can connect.I am currently running firmware 2.02. I also notice that the time changes and I have to reset the time/date.I have tried rebooting the device, resetting the router, changing the network key, updated the time/date, renewed the DHCP...I don't know why it keeps going down, why the time/date keeps changing, and why I cannot get the 2.4 working.
