Can't Go Online With 2 PCs After New Modem Installation
Mar 8, 2012
My ISP is Bright House. They installed a new modem a couple of weeks ago to fix the problem with the phone. Since then, however, only 1 of 2 PCs will go online. Everything's connected correctly, and it shows that there's a connection. Here's what I've tried so far, but to no avail:
Reset/replug everything.Manually set IP address and DNS settings.Using "ipconfig/renew" in command prompt to try and change the IP address.
I've talked to Bright House support about this, but they haven't been any hope. All they said was to contact the manufacturer of my router, but it looks like a discontinued model (some sort of Linksys). I bought a new D-Link EBR-2310 router, but I'm having problems with the installation of the firmware.
I don't think it's my PC, because I tried using the Ethernet cord on my laptop, and got the same error "limited or no connectivity..." When I try to troubleshoot on my PC, it says the modem is fine. All the lights are green on the modem. I did notice that I have an IP address, but no Gateway Address. Also, I'm sending few packets, but receiving even fewer. Is it safe to say that this is a modem issue? Or something else? Is there anything that can be done? -resetting the modem did not work.
I have set my WLL modem to connect automatically to my laptop when switched on. It does connect and work well until there is another modem in the neighborhood coming online. The task bar icon shows I am still connected but the connection is gone. I tried troubleshooting the network, reconnecting from laptop giving the passkey, log off and log on but none of these work, except restarting the modem. This has become a pain and has been so since I purchased this 4 months ago.Is there a setting change that can be done?
I just switched ISPs and received a new modem, unfortunately I can't seem to connect my laptop online with this. Everything else connects fine, but something is up with my computer, it connects fine wirelessly to the modem, it just doesn't have a proper internet connection.I'm running windows 7, the modem is an Arris TG862.
Internet went out for 3 days straight and calling frontier about 20 times they finally gave us a new model 7500 modem to replace the previous. The linksys e1200 router which had worked perfectly fine before the new modem has decided to not allow me to connect online. Sometimes it says im connected to internet but web browser does not connect, sometimes it says no internet access. I have no idea what i am doing so im not sure if it is a modem or router issue. I have done full reboots of both and powered on correctly. plugging in the modem into ports 1-3 do not light up the modems ports lights, only port 4 seems to light up when plugged in however computers light up all the ports when hard wired to E1 - E4.i also downloaded the latest firmware update for the linksys e1200 router. All fire walls are shut off and no WEP ( we live in middle of nowhere so a key is not needed )
I have an Inspiron 1545 and I reinstalled Vista 32-bit, but I having problems with the comms driver (Conexant D400, External USB 56k Modem Rev : a05) and having the following message appear when I install the driver?
OK I want to be able to play MMORPGS and other online games without any latency (or as little as possible). I have wireless 25mb internet in my house but the router is not in my room it is about 25 meters away in my parents room. I experience latency with my current set up while gaming online so I have decided to switch to wired. What is my best option for doing so? Running a wire through from the router to my room would be possible but I need to know if the length will effect performance and what type of Ethernet cable I would need (including estimated price). The other option is to move the router from that room to mine but im not familiar with how this would be done and what the costs would be
My hard drive crashed and had to reinstall my OS using manufacturers disk now everything works but the internet, the integrated ethernet card is not listed under network adapters in the device manager, its a clean install of windows xp media center edition 2005 sp2, the device manager shows no drivers missing.
I'm trying to install LMS 4.0 on a 2008 R2, I got a message saying that this is not supported. Going through Cisco documentation I read the following:
Caution If you want to upgrade the operating system from Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 to Windows 2008 R2, you must first complete upgrading the operating system, and then install the LMS 4.0.x Windows 2008 R2 patch.
I'm a bit confused because i'm not upgrading the operating system, this is a fresh install.
I tried to run this in compatibility mode, selected 2008, and running it as an Admin, this time I'm getting a Locale error stating that this is only supported in US English or Japanese. I've changed the system locale to US English, still getting the same error.
I have router cisco 2821 wit IOS version 12.4(25d) I also have Cisco AIM-VPN/SSL-2 Encryption Module for this router.I inserted this module in AIM slot 0 but can not see it. [code] What should I have to change to enable this module?
I just got two Prime NCS Servers for my system and they came with 1.2. My management wanted to run the lastest IOS which is 1.3. So as soon as I set the physical equipment up, I downloaded the latest 1.3 IOS for the site and burned it on a DL DVD and reimaged the appliance.
We've just purchased the a VM Version of MSE (L-MSE-C3-W25) installed on vSphere.Have followed the guide, gone to add this to WSE and it wont connect.Looking at the console it says to type /init.d/msed.start, I get -bash: /init.d/msed: No such file or directory Then type getserverinfo returns Health Monitor is not running.
I've tried (resetting the router, power cycling everything, MAC cloning, disabling UPnP, changing RTS, fragmentation, and beacon settings, etc) have worked. When I hook up the router I can see the wireless signal with my laptop, but the link light on the modem stays off and I can't get online with either computer. (If I switch things so that the computer is hooked to the "internet" port on the router and the modem is connected to one of the four other router ports the link light blinks like it was online, but doesn't actually work.) When I go to the router status I get all zeros.
theres something wrong with my computer, Youtube works fine, but videos on facebook, and other websites dont work. Even when i watch live sports streams, it doesnt work. The video takes ages to load, and keeps freezing and lagging. I have tried many websites and none of them work
I just recently got a new wireless modem from Verizon. So far, the connection with that modem is far better. My HP Touchpad, my Sony Vaio laptop, and my custom built desktop are all connected to the network. Unfortunately, that is not the case for my HP Mini1000 notebook. It detects the network connection; but, it cannot connect saying that it is unable to verify the certificate. With all the other devices, all I had to do was put in the WEP key and they were connected to the network. But, the HP Mini does not give me that option. How do I get the notebook to connect to the net?
about 3 or 4 days ago i tried to set up a minecraft server. I opened up my routers page using the ip adress to conifgure the settings, changed the settings and logged out. After that i couldnt connect to any web pages yet the internet was still connected. I have tried looking for a way to fix this for days. I have tried ipconfigs renewing and flushing my dns nothings working. In trouble shooter it says that its a problem with the dns server. Im running windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
My friend made a "troll" account on facebook and he would try and piss people off. Well he said some stuff and one person said they would get someone to track him down even if he used a fake account. I don't think it can be done, but he thinks that they can find him.
I have been using the same wireless setup in my home for over a year. We have a Belkin Surf wireless router and an Arris modem from Comcast, using cable internet from Comcast. In the house, we have 5 devices that are set up to automatically connect wirelessly: iPhone 4, an old iPod touch, a MacBook Pro, a Toshiba laptop, and a Brother printer. Until recently, there has never been a problem with connectivity.
Lately, certain devices have been losing connection. For example, last night my husband and I were both using our laptops with no problems. This morning, his is connected and my iPhone is connected, but my Mac is not (I get a timeout error and am not connected to the internet). Sometimes it's his laptop that drops the connection. Other times it's my son's iPod or my iPhone. It is never all of the devices at once (something is always connected), and each device always recognizes the network as existing yet cannot connect to it.
I have also tried to change the channel that the router is set to, but that has not seemed to solve anything. The firmware is up to date. We are password protected in an area with few neighbors, and there never are any unknown devices connected when I check the client list for the router.
I randomly get disconnected from the online applications that I'm using.(Msn, skype, online games, etc.)And I'm running this program in the background to check what's going on.As you can see, everything is normal till I get 0 ping for a couple of times, then it immediately goes back to normal till it hits 0 ping again. It's very random, it happens on the 345th hop or 789th etc.I'm on a wi-fi connection but not using wireless modem. The cable's plugged to my computer.
When I boot up my computer, I have two internet connections, one Home and one Public. I can't access the internet while they're both active. The only way to get online is to disable and re-enable the wireless adapter.
I can't use both online for some reason. I also can't get my 360 to work online unless I reset my router, and the IP says something like 24.* whatever in the network settings for the 360. I'm fairly knowledgeable about computers, but I barely know anything about networking so bear with me. I think this started after I removed a cable from my router (a different connection that I didn't need any more), and hit the reset button. I'm not sure what exactly it changed to cause this however. I also tried a router of the exact same model and it didn't work.
I am looking for a way to hide all that information that can be retrieved about me, for example browser, OS, resolution, location, etc.. Is there a way to prevent the sites from getting that info?
