I just installed a WLC 5508, running 7.4 code. I can not seem to get the Airplay to work with apple TVs. The iPads and Airplay are on the same wireless network. What can I do to get it to work? Is there any documentation on how to get Airplay to work?

We are trying to connect an apple tv, so we can stream picture, videos etc from ipads and Macbooks to a large display for media teaching.The setup works at home, but not at work.The apple TV is on the same network as the wireless apple devices, (we use a 10.6.4.x-10.6.5.254 range), both are dhcping the addresses (have tried fixing but that made no difference). I've enabled multicasting and igmp snooping and set the multicast address as 239.0.0.0 and it still doesn't work.

I lose connection to both devices after the reboot and then have to console in and disable redundancy manually to regain connectivity. Is there something special required for this to work that isn't apparent?

Before 7.116 code upgrade...I remember 5508 was working on and off and now they are not.
Same configs on SW, WLC and ACS.
Debug on WLC gives..below message when Tacacs is attempted..

We had cisco 5508 with 6.0.182.0All 1041 and 1310 worked fine with 5508. Then we upgraded controller to 7.2.110.0.
1041 still worked, but 1310 - no.

I have a 5508 controller running 7.4.100 and have a WLAN where I have radius configured. On my controller the client machine I'm using appears but the radius authentication doesn't appear to be working. Is there anything on the controller I can do to verify that the request is even being sent to my Microsoft IAS server? The log on the server doesn't show any requests from the controller so my early days guess is the controller isn't actually sending it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedApple AirPlay won't work on AppleTV (from neither computer nor iPhone) with my new Cisco small busines router WRVS4400N. It was working just fine on old consumer level linksys router. I have spent 3 hours with Apple support to no avail. Apple TV works fine on internet functions (netflix, YouTube, etc.) and I can play music and videos from the cloud, but iPhone and computer can't connect to AppleTV even though the icons appear in iPhone and Computer... just can't establish a connection.

The wireless VAP's are on the same VLAN, and intervlan routing works. Airplay works if the iDevice and the Apple TV are connected to the same access point, but not across the network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an Apple TV 2 and am trying to use it with Airplay at my business. We have a WLC526 controller and three 521 access points.
We have a guest VLAN on our network which spans both the wired and wireless networks. The guest VLAN is VLAN # 100 and the numbering is 172.16.1.0/24. On this network, 172.16.1.1 is an interface on our ASA which clients on the guest VLAN use as a default gateway. On the wireless side, there is an SSID configured in the controller called LPGA-Guest which is bound to VLAN # 100. Clients that connect to this VLAN get addresses in 172.16.1.0/24 and can access the Internet through the ASA without any trouble. This has all been set up and working for quite some time.
What I have done is attached both the Apple TV and an iPhone 5 to the LPGA-Guest wireless network. I verified that they both have IP addresses in the same subnet, but when I try to bring up a list of airplay devices on the iPhone, nothing shows up. From what I gather, this is because multicast traffic is not being handled properly.

Unable to use AirPlay on a D-Link network. Disable WMM in the Advanced->Advanced Wireless tab.I struggled for weeks with this. AirPlay worked fine on an all Apple network but when I switched to the DIR-655 as the router/ap AirPlay became invisible. I could see the Airport Express in the list of connected devices with an IP address but the AirPort utility and AirPlay enabled apps were unable to see it. Disabling WMM fixed it immediately and I am now back to streaming music.

I have setup the AP, and read about some issues with Multicast and Apple Bon. Services.
I ran the "no ip igmp snooping" command and it allowed be to access our AirPlay Devices (Apple TV, AirPort Express, Etc), however our 2 AirPrint devices (Xerox 6125N, & Canon IR3220 via AirPrint Activator) are not showing up at all when connected to the 1142 (they work everywhere else).
Everything is on the same subnet, and 1142 is connected to the same switch has the airprint devices, and one Apple TV.
Both our 3500 Series switches are connected via fiber, AP and AirPrint/AirPlay devices are in the same VLAN.
I am having a trouble with using iTunes, iPhones and iPads on our Wireless LAN. We have the 2112 WLC and 10 1142N WAPs. If I do a network scan, I can see the Apple TV and see that port 5353 is open, which is Apple's Bonjour service. However, if I try to play music/video in iTunes, or on an iPhone/iPad, I do not see the Airplay icon. If I plug into the LAN, the Airplay icon appears immediately. I have created an allow all rule in the ACL but still no dice.

Recently we have a requirent to be able to use Apple's Airplay. Basically, it is not working through the 1140, it works ok via wired ethernet. Can the 1140 support Airplay? - If yes, what precisely must be enabled/configured?
We have a single Class C network without any Vlans. I understand multicast must be enabled, I can't see where to enable this. How to get this working if it is at all possible.
I have a new 5508 that I am setting up. My first one from scratch.
Interfaces:
managment -> 10.10.10.10 ->dhcp 10.10.10.1
voice -> 10.10.7.1 ->dhcp 10.10.10.1
guest -> 192.168.1.2 ->dhcp 192.168.1.2
Local DHCP (via the 5508) is for the guest network while the management and voice use the Windows DHCP server.
My problem, Voice and guest work fine. I have two SSID's (one 802.1X and the other PSK) that use the management interface that will not get an IP. I have enabled dhcp proxy from the cli on the controller. I tried with the management VLAN tagged and untagged.
My understanding is that for fully WLC 5508 integration with ISE 1.1.2, it needs Version 7.2.103.0. Question is if customer has 5508 with either 7.0.230 or 7.0.98, and ISE 1.1.2, can AAA part work? what part will not work, any potential issue if they don't upgrade 5508 to 7.2.103?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am beginning to get many emails from users who have recently upgraded to OS6 and saying now they cannot connect to our open access wireless network. We use a separate server that users must agree to a user agreement page and they say they get it, but after agreeing, it goes blank and they cannot connect. I am using mostly Cisco 3502's with the 5508 controller using 7.0.112.0 IOS version. Nobody in our IT department has yet to test OS6 yet.

Two 5508 controllers have been installed in our DMZ for resilience and have been placed into a separate Mobility group. All controllers (internal and external) have been linked together as mobility neighbours in a full mesh and a new SSID for Web Guest traffic has been anchored to the controllers in the DMZ.
Web page authentication works perfectly fine, but I cannot for the life of me get the MAC filtering override to work, i.e. if a MAC address is present, do not redirect to the splash page for web auth. I know I can get around this by just creating two separate SSIDs. But the business is used to just having the one SSID for all guest traffic. Is this a known limitation when anchoring SSIDs to controllers in the DMZ ?
I have an issue when I use Airplay through my iPhone4S, my router reboots after 30 secs or so. I have a WRT54G2 v1.5 and the receiver is a Pioneer VSX-1021-K.
However, when I used Airplay through itunes from my laptop, it works just fine. In addition, when I borrowed my neighbors router's(BELKIN) it was working fine also. So this lead me to believe that it's my router that is causing the issue.

I have 2 X E4200 router, one is directly connected to the internet and the other is in the bridge mode connected to the first router. I have apple TV connected directly with the bridge router on one of the Ethernet port.I notice that when you start apple Airplay mirroring on the iPad2 both the routers will hangs with no reason and the only way to fix it is to reboot the routers. I have reset both the routers to factory default twice they both are running firmware 1.0.03 build 14 .

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just confirmed that everytime I try to stream music from my MacBook Pro (iTunes) that is connected to my WiFi network using the 5GHz mode (channel width is Auto, channel: Auto (DFS)) to a couple Airport Express cubes are connected via the 2.4 GHz WiFi (channel width: Auto, channel: 10) the E4200 router reboots. When I set the MBP to use the 2.4 GHz mode I can stream music without causing the E4200 to reboot. The E4200 is running firmware 1.0.03.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy problem is this: Randomly, the DIR-825 will prohibit streaming to my AirPort Express via AirTunes. It'll also disappear from Bonjour Browser and AirPort Utility. I can connect directly to it, if I enter the IP into the AirPort utility directly.The only way to get it to come back is to either reboot the DIR-825, reboot the AE, or unplug the ethernet to the AE.

This is only happening on the iphone 5, and not other apple devices using mirroring. Our ipad 3 mirrors perfectly without affecting the wifi. There isn't any specific settings on the iphone 5 for airplay apart from setting it on and off.

However after 10-15minutes the Airplay drops out and the network map shows that the airport express is 'offline'. however the airport express LED remains showing it still have connection to the network. The only way to get it back is to reset the AE. The apple forum has lots of people stating the same problem with WAG120n routers.

I have a problem running Airplay through the wireless on my W881. It runs okay if the computer i run it from, does nothing else, but if i try to do light browsing or anything like that it starts to fall out and lag. Its like it is not prioritizing the stream at all.
My setup is a w881 running as edge router and i got an Airport express running through a 2950 switch. Airplay runs perfect if i run it through the Airport express or my previous Edge router (Linksys WRT54g). Ofcourse it also runs perfect through the wired network. I shut down all other wireless networks but my w881, because i only want one wireless. And no i dont want to run wireless on the Airport express.
i played around with the Dot11Radio0 interface setting "packet retries 128 drop-packet" and the packet "max-retries". I thought that maybe if i set max-retries to something low, it wouldnt fall out if it has some problems with one packet, it would just continue...
