how many Gigabit port will be supported by Cisco 7206VXR with G1 engine model. By deault we hot 3 GE, is it possible to add additional Gigabit ports with the existing hardware.
If I am to add the Self-generated certificate of my new CAS to my existing CAM's trusted certificate authorities list, will it just be added or will it replace the existing trusted certificate?
ive got 2 laptops on my wireless network and have just bought a pc. it dosnt seem to be finding my connection so i cannot get it onto my wireless network?
I want to get gigabit speeds on my existing 10/100 UTP cabling. I read that I just need to buy a gigabit switch to replace my 10/100 and I'm good to go since all my computers' motherboard have onboard gigabit lan. How true is this?I'm getting 100mbps (LAN) speeds on my current setup but I really need to up it to gigabit speeds.
Can a router connect to a switch to gain additional ports (to both access the internet AND to maintain an internal / home network)?IP line to house, connected to modem, connected to 4-port router, connected to 8-port switch. Now, each of six rooms in my house has one Cat-5e (RJ-45) jack whose run terminates to the switch. In some of these rooms, I need two wired devices (wireless isn't an option for the devices). Can I use the LAN port of a spare, wireless router (to also use as an access point for cell phones, etc) to plug into the jack and increase the number of ports in that room to have a functional LAN and WAN? I have read tons of info on plugging switches into routers to increase the number of ports, but not the other way around. Plus, ripping open walls to expand the network isn't feasible either. My other thought, would be to replace the switch with another (2nd) router, by connecting the 1st and 2nd routers together, and have the runs terminate to the open LAN ports of both routers --= and then expand the ports in those rooms by also using additional, spare wireless routers.
I have a 3750 stack as our core switch. On the core switch I have 2 VLANs. One VLAN is for WAN and one is for LAN. The WAN VLAN has our internet router, and the outside interfaces of two ASA's set up as failover. The LAN VLAN has everything else, including our MPLS router for the remote offices. Execs are cheap and want to increase internet bandwidth by purchasing a local home internet service like COX or Time Warner cable to add to our Business internet service with TelePacific which is a bonded T1 at 3 meg. Execs dont seem to care about SLA's and simply will not spend big dollars to increase the pipe. I was looking at those Mushroom Networks appliances but its too expensive for us also. Any way to add additional low cost bandwidth with out current setup? Maybe prefer to keep important internet traffic to the SLA circuit, and then put low priority traffic to the cheap non SLA cable modem if possible.
The problem I have run into is that I am not getting any connectivity between my two gigabit ports on the 1941. I have ge0/0 setup as my internal network and is running dhcp, ge0/1 is the connection to the modem. I can't figure out how to configure the connections so my internal traffic on ge0/0 routes out through ge0/1.
Here is my config: Using 4312 out of 262136 bytes !
how the ASR1000s are being setup.I am looking at ASR1000s as part of network refresh and was looking at RJ-45 based Gigabit Ethernet ports compatible with the ASR1000s SPA-5X1GE-V2 seems to be an option but they are all SFPs. Are there any options for RJ-45 ones on ASR1000s?
There is an option for the 2 port where one can mix and match SFPs and RJ45 but I was looking for something which is RJ45 only. Are there any options for them available.I know I could get something with FastEthernet type but was looking for the GigabitEthernet type.
I am trying to test the gigabit ports on a Cisco 2950 switch. 1000Base-SX. I have the internet or dhcp server connected to port 24 on the first switch and my pc hooked up to the (any) port on the second switch. Both switchs are connected with a fiberoptic cable with MTRJ connectors on either side.
Now when I use gi0/2 on both switchs all works fine. I get a dhcp address from the router on the other end of the first switch. but when ever I include gi0/1 on either end of the fiber optic cable neither of the ports will initialize (neither of the leds above the ports light up). I have deleted all the config files before booting up the switchs so they should have a default blank configuration.
When looking at the Http web page for the switch I dont see any issues with the port. what can I do to make sure these ports are working or can be configured?
I will not be able to post back any more information about the switch until next tuesday. Im off till then.
I was wondering if I could use the CISCO3945 Integrated Gigabit Ethernet WAN ports for routing, I need to enable BGP and I was willing to use one of those ports.
Are all ports on Catalyst 4500X Gigabit/10-Gigabit or just the ports on 8-port module. We are looking at 4500X for campus distribution layer but need Gig ports to access switches for now and may year from now will be using 10G.
I have two switches, WS-3750-24PS-S connected in two cabs via fiber. Patch panels at both ends with patch leads. Used tester to confirm end to end fiber connectivity. When plugged in, one switch lights up the other does nothing.
same at both ends. Tried both GI ports same result. swapped transceivers over and the same result, (one switch lit one not - the same switch in both cases). put both transceiver in each switch, (gi0/1-0/2 in a single switch). on the one that lights up in the original scenario we get link on both ports and they come up, on the other nothing happens. shut down both ports on the malfunctioning switch and no shut them, no change.
Show transceivers doesn't show transceivers on the malfunctioning switch, and no attempt is made to bring the ports up if the fiber is removed and replaced.
it is almost as though the two gb ports are kaput. Anything else I can try?
My router is on a static IP, it is a Linksys WRT150N, and it doesn't have gigabit ports. Is it possible to run it through the 1522's gigabit ports.Modem -> 1522 -> actual router.
I need to tear down an existing port-channel on a 3750X running c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-1.SE3.bin. This port channel is currently down down. It has three ports in it that will be added one each to three existing port-channels, I am assuming as long as the "channel-group" command is exactly the same as it is on the three existing port-channels I should be ok just adding the new port. One point to note is that the three existing port-channels all have three ports so this will be adding the fourth port to each port-channel. I know after reading that it is a best practice for load balancing to use either 2, 4, or 8 ports for a port-channel. Also what is the command to see all ports that are in a port channel?
Adding ports to my Fairpoint provided Westell 7500 Rev D DLS modem router which has only 4 RJ45 ports. Bought a Linksys SE2500 gigabit smart switch but it doesn't assign IP or pass on router assigned IPs. Can't get ASSISTANCE from Fairpoint [successor to Verizon] configuring router or any advice on other ways to get more wired devices on LAN.For speed in backups I'd like 3 devices to be able to communicate at giabit speed Want to have an NAS and 2 Win7 Ultimate computers on smart switch, 3 other wired devices [WinXP, AT&T Cell tower, & DirectTV whole house SWM interface] and wireless on the router. 1. Are Fairpoint specs for DSL published so I could get another DSL modem router instead of the Westell or is it better to configure Westell as a router only and use a new to be acquired router with or without the existing or a new gigabit switch. I have a DI-624 from the pre-DSL Hughesnet satellite days.2. Are there less smart switches which would work better and let router assign the IPs?3. If this is too complex for me, can you recommend a remote access consultant to walk me through this for a fee?4. I'm 82, have been in computing since 1960, mainly in on-line end user environment mbut don't know the bridging, PPP PPoE differences, and implementation or configuration details of current hard and software except as a user.
I just upgraded to an E4200 from a D-Link DIR-655. I cannot seem to get my desktop to connect to the E4200 at 1 GBS. My adapter is set to "auto negotiate" but will only connect at 100 MBS. If I try forcing the adapter setting to 1 GBS, it never connects. I can swap out my E4200 with the DIR-655 and it will connect at 1 GBS just fine. I am using a CAT 5E cable. Is there something I'm missing here or is the E4200 just more finicky than the the DIR-655?
Have the issue of connecting a pc an NAS to a E4200 and when transferring from pc to NAS, only getting < 10 mbps transfer rates? NAS is Dlink 321. PC has Gigabit ethernet card. cables are cat 6. Even when I force the NAS and pc network card speeds to 1.0 GBps full duplex, I only transfer files at < 10 Mbps.
I use one cisco 6506-e switch with modules (including two sup720-3B,one 6148-GE-TX,one 6724-SFP), and Thomson ViSE EM1000 encoder connect to 6148-GE-TX module with its two Gigibit RJ45 ports,Video picture can appear, but it isn't active. If connect to 6724-SFP module with GLC-T transceiver,It is OK. configure speed 1000 on the 6148 interface? configure full-duplex on the 6148 interface?
I've put a C3KX-NM-1G module into a 3750x but can only get ports 1,3 to stand up, ports 2 and 4 dont operate. ports 2,4 are not shutdown and dont come up with working SFPs etc in another switch.
Ihave a 3560 w/multicast support and I'm trying to configure a simple environment. I have 2 ports configured, one for the multicast server and the other for the client. Each are on their own subnet, so I have an ip route between the two. My run config on both ports is:
ip multicast-routing distributed interface fastethernet 0/3 & 0/4 ip pim version 2 ip pim sparse-dense-mode
I'm using vlc server /client configured to use 224.0.0.1 on my isolated network. I can see the mulitcast traffic going into the port, and I the client is sending reports, but I think the 3560 is dropping the packets, since I don't see them coming in the client port. Need to configure a simple multicast environment using 2 ports on a Cisco 3560.
I have a switched network of C2980 & C3548 switches with multiple VLANs. I would like to understand the difference between Multi- VLAN ports and trunk ports. What circumstances would dictate using one over the other? If I configure the router port as Multi- VLAN, does the router still require sub-interfaces?
I recently acquired a 2509 router that I plan to use as a serial device router. My question is, how do you create the virtual com ports on Windows and Linux machines to point to the TCP address:ports in the 2509 router? Is there software or drivers that do this? Or something third-party?
I have an Ethernet Loopback Plug (4 Pairs) made and trying to test the Gigabit Interface on a 3845 Router with a fail result. The interface will show up/up only if I set the interface to 100M/Full Duplex when I plug-in the Ethernet Loopback Plug (4 Pairs). I don't see this Gigabit Interface @ 3845 router has any option to set it to internal or external loopback.
I'm running an Optiplex 330 with the Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit ethernet card.
The computer is running Windows 7, 64bit, but there do not appear to be any drivers for that OS.I tried selecting Vista 64bit, but there were no drivers. The Vista 32bit doesn't work.
Then I went to Broadcom and found these drivers: [URL] the W764bit drivers didn't change the fact i'm still on a 100Mbit card (as seen on Local Area Connection Status screen and the Device manager)
I have a Cisco 7206VXR with NPE-400. The IOS version is 12.4(24)T3. I installed a SA-VAM in the router in slot 6 but getting the following on the console.
AP-Pune-RT#Feb 23 11:16:34.484: %PA-3-NOTSUPPORTED: PA in slot6 (Unknown (type 650)) is not supported on this chassisFeb 23 11:16:34.484: %PA-3-DEACTIVATED: port adapter in bay [6] powered off.Feb 23 11:16:34.584: %PA-2-PABRIDGE: Failed to config bridge for PA 6Feb 23 11:16:35.384: %PA-4-IMPROPER_REMOVAL: Improper removal for slot 6.Feb 23 11:16:35.384: %PA-3-DEACTIVATED: port adapter in bay [6] powered off.Feb 23 11:16:35.468: %CRYPTO-4-PKT_REPLAY_ERR: decrypt: replay check failed connection id=975, sequence number=677864
Is the SA-VAM not supported in the Router 7206VXR?
We have a 7206VXR with an NPE-G1 processor. We're running the standard stuff on it, but here are the highlights. We just enabled netflow on it to send the data to an external source for analysis and the overall CPU level increased, but not significantly. About what should we expect for the overall CPU level? At this point, it's averaging close to 40% during peak hours.
I am having trouble with gathering inventory for 7206 XVR devices. I got this error:
RICS0001:Internal Error, unable to process the collected data from the device
How can I make the inventory work for these devices ?
Here's an excerpt from IC_Server.log:

I am observing very high CPU utilization on my Cisco 7206VXR (NPE-G1) Router. We have done all the necessary troubleshooting but not able to identify root cause. [code]
I have CISCO 7206 router with NPE-G2 and 2 gig of memory. There's a vpn and pppoe servers on this unit and it hold maximum of 250-300 simultaneous connections. Periodically (1-5 times/hour) router suddenly reboots with lots of messages in console:
IPFLOW: Warning: V5 overfill -Traceback= 0x14975E4z 0x1A133F4z 0x1A16CC0z 0x1A17754z 0x1A17870z 0x3337874z 0x28F80Cz 0x66A704z *** System received a Software forced crash ***
[Code].....
I googled about first "V5 overfill" but no luck, i analyzed crashifo's with cisco tool and it said - it is ios problem, but if i change ios - problem lives again, no matter which ios i use.
We have subscribed for MPLS links from Service provider we have a DC where the core connectivity is 90 MB and Remote branch location Connectivity is 64 Kbps. We are in process of enabling QOS for our links with co-ordination with Service provider ; as per our finding the branches have more RX traffic (downloading) so after discussion with provider we were advised to mark traffic from the core end and give it to the provider. The provider at its PE will honor the marking and set some B/W percentages and prioroty based on the DSCP marking values.
We need to mark this traffic so it is feasible to mark the traffic at the core DC router which has the below H/W details,Cisco 7206VXR (NPE-G2) processor (revision A) with 917504K/65536K bytes of memory. Processor board ID 36161439 MPC7448 CPU at 1666Mhz, Implementation 0, Rev 2.2 6 slot VXR midplane, Version 2.11
or is it feasible to mark the traffic at the core switch.
