View 1 RepliesI have turned on 'Local log' and 'output blocking event log' on my WRVS4400N v2 with latest fw.When I am clicking 'view log' button I can't see anything in empty fields. When I am trying to change logs genre I have empty fields all time.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf your wireless indicator is flashing red when you discover the smurf, it can mean that someone has tried to logon with an incorrect password. this is not necessarily an attack, it could be someone you have allowed access too, who has forgotten the password? In this case entering the correct password will solve the problem. However putting your own MAC address into the filter will simply block your own machine.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have seen posts and screen shots of WRVS4400N settings screens showing WDS but I can't find anywhere in my setup to enable WDS on my version 1. I am running firmware 1.1.13. This makes me think WDS is only supported on v2 of the WRVS4400N, is that correct?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am trying to expand the wifi range of my WRVS4400n. Since the WAP4400 is'nt available i got me a wap321, since it was mentioned as recommende replacement. However i am having trouble in getting the bridge to work.First i tried to use WDS but this only killed my WRVS4400n and i am now trying the Workghroup Bridge mode on the WAP321.
On WRVS4400n i have enabled WDS and have tried both auto setting and Manual without any difference I am stuck with this status on the WAP321:
Network Interface Status and Statistics VLAN ID Name (SSID)
WLAN0UPSTRM Disconnected 1 myssid
WLAN0DWSTRM Up 1 myssid
It is the Infrastructure Client Interface setting that fails, i've tried both None and WPA pesronal Security setting with same result: Disconnected
I've noticed in the mornings lately when I get up around 6 am my internet will not work. Not on wireless or on my desktop. I decided I'd log into the router to see if there was a firmware update or anything. I had checked the logs and there are quite a few entries relating to DoS. I googled around and saw that it could be some sort of packet loss and the router is mistaking it for some sort of DoS attack. And that due to it not showing up multiple times every second it likely isn't a DoS attack. Here is a few from the logs:
[code].....
We have an ASA 5505 and we keep getting short bursts of ICMP packets (5000 in one second) They will do this and it just simply overloads the ASA and it crashes. Is this since it is 1000 past the 4000 connections per second capacity of the ASA 5505 or do we have a setting wrong some place that could prevent this type of overload from happening? We are looking to prevent DoS and other attacks that prevent even a short loss of connection since the servers are getting attacked daily and we have voice streaming on through the ASA. [code]

We are finding the price for ASA 5505 to high and our clients are having problem securing budgets for these devices. We don't want to move to different vendors and we have a team of people we already know Cisco well.I have seen Cisco router 877 which have the ipadvance ios, is this the same as the ASA5505.We would like to offer our clients an alternative to ASA5505, but something which can do the same as a edge device but also protect the client from malicious attacks and has CLI.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just checking my router's firewall log and I noticed a couple of entries which appear somewhat suspicious, amongst all the 'normal' background radiation of (mainly) Russian and Chinese IPs: [code] The source IP for these 'attacks' is/was unused on my internal network.
My router is a Billion BiPAC 7800N running 1.06e firmware. There are a number of devices permanently connected to the internal network and a number which are connected at other times (e.g. desktops, laptops, mobile/cell phones, games consoles). Some are wired, some are wireless. Some have static IPs (none of which are listed in the above 'attacks'), some have dynamic IPs (assigned by DHCP by the router in a range not listed above). The WiFi is secured with a strong key on WPA/WPA2-PSK, AES (no WPS). Web Access Control for the router is disabled. Block WAN PING (and Block WAN (IPv6) PING) are both enabled.
I have 2 internet connections in my office one via Verizon Fios and another one via the local cable company. On the fios connection I have an RV042 VPN router and on the Cable company connection I have an rvs4000 router, I would like to know if there is a way I can connect the 2 so I can share a printer I have on one of the 2 networks from the other network without using the VPN feature, like via an ethernet cable connected between the 2 and some kind of static route maybe?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have RV042 and E4200 routers . I tried the manual UPnP port forwarding using Rv042 router and was succesful ( by typing 192.168.1.1 in the explorer and logged in using user name and password )
I am using a linux embedded system whose Internal IP ,Internal port are mapped .This system is connected to one of the LAN ports
I want to try auto UPnP port forwarding both for RV042 router and Linksys E4200 routers
After enabling the Upnp option only and logging out ,Can i add a port mapping entry in this router without logging in using a C++ program which runs on linux embedded system .
I was looking for a small business router that has VPN support and dual WAN support for load balancing. Upon reading reviews, I think RV042/RV042G is a good choice. Now am thinking if it supports intervlan/ router-on-a-stick configuration?
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor my work I am looking to create wireless capabilities to remote locations. To do this we are using a standard modem/router that is connected to an Engenius (802.11b/g) wireless outdoor radio connected to a dish antenna. We are able to go to locations (3+km) and then with a corresponding receiving antenna (using LoS), receive the Internet and connect both to computers at the transmitting point as well as to the WWW. The problem exists is that we want to employ a series of routers at the receiving end that would be able to carry the transmission to a different location (relatively close), due to the fact that some of the locations do not have line of sight to the antennas. We are using Encore routers, model # ENHWI-N3. When we connect the radio's Ethernet into the routers WAN reciever, we can connect to the Internet with a computer. The problem exists is we want to pass that connection over to a second router (R2). This connection is done when the routers are on access points set to a WDS function with R1 having R2's mac address and vice versa. Both routers are set to channel 1. Even when the routers are seperated by distances >50m a computer plugged into R2 can see a computer plugged into R1. Files can be transferred between the 2 computers wirelessly at speed around 3 mbps. However computer 2 on R2 can not connect to the WWW. This router features a spot that lights up if it has Internet access and R1's is lit up but R2's is not. How do we transfer the Internet and not just a LAN from R1 to R2 so it can be accessed further away from the point of the radio and antenna equipment. This setup has also been used where R2 is hardwired to R3. At R3 we change the channel to 11, and then connect through that with mac addresses wirelessly to 4th router. If comp is in R4 and far away it can still access and file share from comp at R1.*edit the ip address for the routers exist all on 192.168.1.xxx If the 3rd number is different between routers would this make a difference?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow to set up a home network with 2 routers, where R1 acts as the DHCP server and R2 is basically a switch, connected LAN to LAN and everything is on the same subnet. Currently I have a different setup:Both routers have the DHCP server enabled and I connect R2's WAN port to R1 LAN. Therefore I have 2 subnets. Now my special requirement is that R2 is a DD-WRT router, which establishes a VPN connection to StrongVPN, so that all internet traffic via R2 is encrypted and goes through the StrongVPN server. Now my question:If I change my router setup to the same subnet, meaning R2 connects LAN to R1 LAN and I disable DHCP server on R2, will R2 still be able to establish the VPN connection?
