View 8 Replies View RelatedMy previous setup was a ProSafe GS108 switch, 10/100 Dlink router/switch used only as a switch, and a DI-655 router/switch. With this setup, activity when I wasn't using any of my computers was zero. There would be no blinking activity lights.
I dumped the ProSafe and 10/100 switch, and use the DI-655 only for my internet uplink and wireless, and now have everything else plugged into a Cisco GS200 switch. There is activity now every two seconds. I presume this prevents the Green energy saving features from kicking in as the ports are in use.
What's the difference that's leading to all this activity that presumably wasn't there before?
My access switches LED is start blinking very fast suddenly,it has single up link from the Core switch.access switch is 3560.what can be the possible problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe recently installed 15 of these switches, and we're having a few odd, random network issues. But before I enumerate those issues, I have a simple question: are the connection lights on these switches *supposed* to blink rapidly? Or are they supposed to blink *normally*?On all other switches I've ever seen / worked on / worked around, when a cable is plugged into a port, the connection lights blink upon network activity. sometimes they blink a little faster when there's lots of activity, but mostly it's an almost lazy, random kind of blinking. When you look at a switch and every light on every port that's connected is blinking very rapidly, your first instinct is "No *wonder* nothing works around here!" and you find the port that's chattering and unplug it...all the blinkies go back to normal.Well, on the 15 switches we've installed, every light that's on blinks rapidly, as if there's an uncontrolled storm going on. Is that the "new norm"? Did I miss the memo, and there is nothing to be worried about here? Or are the rapidly blinking lights telling me there is, indeed, a problem?

I closed my laptop and when I went back to it it wasn't working again and hasn't since. It says there's no wireless connection to plug in Ethernet cable now I have tried Fn F8 and it doesn't do anything. So I went into my toshiba assist and opened optimize. Then toshiba hardware settings and clicked LAN and it says it's turned on. But when I click radar it shows it is not connected and the light is off.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently swapped a router out for an old one to check an internet problem (to rule it out basically) and when I tried swapping the newer (better) one back in it networks fine (ie computers can see/stream off each other) but it doesnt recognize as being plugged into the internet.
After doing a factory reset via routerlogin.net I still have the same problem. The only thing I can think of is maybe the port got damaged? (The ethernet cables all work fine).
My process for hooking up the new router in case I was doing something wrong:
Unplug cable modem power, swap all the cords, on router while cable modem was rebooting and then once modem connected I turn on router. Did I need to restart the PC as well? Is that why this is screwing up?
i have already installed this, but it stop working so i unplugged it, now cant find the CD

View 0 Replies View RelatedCurrently we do not have multicat routing enabled on either of our 2x Sup720-10G 6509 Switches. We have no intention of doing so either. I am looking for clarification on how mutlicasting operates within a Vlan.
IOS: s72033-ipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-33.SXH2a.bin
Our Vlan has IGMP snooping enabled. Here is the output.
6509Switch#sh ip igmp inter vlan 25
Vlan25 is up, line protocol is up
Internet address is 10.1.1.254/24
IGMP is disabled on interface
we do not want to disable IGMP due to this one concern that I can't find documented. If we disable IGMP snooping on the vlan, what happens to multicast packets with a TTL > 1. Do they get flooded to the entire switch and all Vlans? Or does it stay within the Vlan?
I have tried to upgrade from 2.0.2.1 ever since 2.0.3.3 was released back in July. The firmware image file has remained the same, so I don't think they've ever changed it from the original July release. The download and installation go fine, I even reset to factory defaults. The problem is that several menu selections are broken, and don't allow you to save your choices, i.e, you can't even rename your SSID. You can type it in a Apply, but the fields just reset. I figured this would be fixed with a minor update to 2.0.3.3, but we are now several months since original release and nothing has changed. I have tried this firmware at least three times now. I have not bothered lately, because I don't want to waste another 30 minutes trying it and reverting back to 2.0.2.1 if this newest firmware is not going to work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a new wireless router (new network, entirely). I used to get intermittent "network access denied" messages. Now, I get intermittent connectivity loss: "No internet access." I typically just right click and troubleshoot. The problem is solved and I get the following message: "Problem with wireless adapter or access point." Once fixed, things go on well for a random time (never more then a day). Then, however, they just fall apart.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFor about two months now I have been experiencing a problem with my Internet connection. It started when I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 530s from 64 bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7. After a day, I started getting the "Local Area Connection: A network cable is unplugged or broken internet connection." However, the cable is not unplugged. My other PC and laptop (which is wireless) can connect to the Internet, so I know it's not my ISP or my router. It only happens about every other day. It would work perfectly on day and other day I would go to my internet and I would have no connection. The weird thing is that when I restart my computer, it connects right away. My other two computers that was upgraded also does not have this problem.
First, I thought it may be the cable, so I replaced it with another cable I had. No luck. Then I thought it may be the port on the router, so I plugged it into one of the other ports (including the port that the working PC was plugged into). Next, I checked Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel(R) 8256v-2 10/100 Connection. There is no exclamation point next to it. Plus, under Properties, it indicates that this device is working properly.I shut down all my computers, and unplugged the dsl modem and router. I waited a few minutes and then plugged in the modem, followed by the router. Once both of those were fully booted, I turned my computers back on. Still after a few hours, I lost connection.Following this, I went to Run, typed "cmd" and then "ipconfig." Under Windows IP Configuration, it reads:"Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Media State.........: Media Disconnected."
I have a TAC case open, but it doesn't seem to be making any progress.I upgraded my 5508 controller from 7.2.111.3 up to 7.4.100.0..Most of my APs are fine. 3500s, 1100s etc.except for 602i APs. The APs associate, they update software etc, but they won't broadcast the WLAN.An interesting thing, on the 602 AP, in the log, I see this:*Mar 06 15:08:12.667: SSID remote, WLAN Profile Name: RemoteOEAP, added to the slot[0], disabled..So the AP is definately talking to the WLC and being pushed the correct WLAN profile. On the controller, the AP shows the the Admin status of the radios is showing DOWN, but the Admin status on the AP itself shows UP
I've done a factory reset on the APs to no avail. I have a 2504 WLC as well that i'm in the process of implementing in a DMZ specificially for these APs, and for testing purposes, I associated the 602 Ap to that WLC as well. This one is running 7.4.100.0 too, same results. It would appear to be a problem with this version of software?
Before upgrading to 8.4(4)1 I was able to ping our inside interface accross the VPN. Now I cannot. I have been using WAP4401N for almost a year in our office and I’m very happy of this device, never had any problem. So I bought 3 new ones for our customer which supposed to work in configuration below:
Network ----- AP1 –Bridge mode ----- AP2 – Bridge mode -----AP3 – Access Point mode.
Everything was working perfectly fine to the moment than bridge was broken. I can get access to all AP (obviously when connected to proper part of network) however not able to ping from AP2 -> AP1 or opposite so basically no link between AP1 and AP2. After reboot everything is working fine to next time (happens twice in two days). When I go to System Performance can see Connection is enabled but doesn’t work.
I upgraded firmware to latest version (2.0.5.3) but haven’t worked. When I’ve done some research found many users having similar problem with this device and basically they recommend to don’t buy. Unfortunately this is not an option for me as I’ve already purchased them.
I installed firmware version 1.2.0.9 a couple weeks ago after seeing in the release notes that the port forwarding bug where clients would get 'no route to host' was resolved (one of the original posts found here:URL
After installing the firmware and confirming it's running I've seen no improvement. I still must reboot my router 2-3 times daily so clients can access the ports that are defined in the port forwarding module.
I need to add some rules to block some attacks. I can add them fine but they get added to the end of the list. I try to re-order the rules to put them at the top and can not. I am using Internet Exploder 8 and I put a checkmark on the rule I want to move then click the reorder button. It takes me to a screen that shows 0 rules. I click the Back button and am back at the list of rules on that page. I am running the latest firmware which is from a year ago.
