Cisco Switches :: Only Internet Access From SRW 2024 And WRT610
Apr 22, 2012
I am looking a solution for internet access for Guest users.Currently we are in a cable network 192.168.0.1/24 now. I have added 1 WRT610 wireless router for few users. they are using proper access with my local servers and Internet as well.My query is If any Guest users ask for Internet connection how do i provide the same with secure practice..If it can be possible via VLAN on SRW2024 switch.
I'm new to managed networking. So I'm having trouble understanding how to set up my switches properly. I have a closed network with about 20 switches and 2 IDF's. No router, and no internet. I have a SLM 2024 in want to have 4 ports set up with a VLAN.
I have another SLM2024 I want to be on the same VLAN some where else. Switch 1 uses port 24 GBIC as and uplink port to one of the IDF's. Switch 2 uses ports 12 and 24 copper(LACP) to make a hop from another switch(ports 1 and 13 LACP)which inturn is connected to thesame IDF on port 24 GBIC. How do I set up switch 1 ports 7,8,19,20? Also, how do I set up switch 2 ports 7,8,19,20?

I have been put in charge of getting a failover cluster up and runing for SQL AlwaysOn. My equipment is a Cisco SF300-24 and a Cisco 2024 smartswitch. Now I am really new at this since my CCNA class has not yet started but I am trying to get a headstart. What I need to do is split the network up into 2 vlans to represent my data center, and the network oporation center. Ports 1,2,and 3 will be my DC; 11 and 12 will be my NOC. I need to learn how to get those two vlans to communicate. trunk? how? I need the computers to communicate flawlessly. I would rather use the Cisco CLI and not the GUI, google is coming up with nothing descriptive.
I'm having some difficulties with the VLAN setup on the SG-200 and the WiFi access point. The access point (a TP-Link WA801N) is only able to access the internet when it is plugged into a port that is on the default VLAN (PVID 1). If I plug it into one of the other VLANs then any clients connected to the WiFi lose access to the internet and cannot access devices on the VLAN. I have previously used this setup with a first generation Cisco WAP4410N. [code]
I am trying to setup internet access and intranet access using two cards per PC. I don't have sever software and I want to be able to share files between several machines. I have two routers. One that connects to cable modem and one that connects to intranet side. I have assigned different static ip addresses to both cards.
I have a wrt610n that I've used for years with no problem. The usb drive I've had plugged into it has worked great for a really long time, but it's fairly small. I bought a WD 1TB hard drive, formatted it with the router set everything up. after about a day I tried to upload a file from work and got an error, and it wiped the harddrive clean. I reloaded thinking it was a fluke and everything worked fine for about a month. Uploading and downloading worked fine from where ever I was at, on the local network or over the internet. Then I tried to upload a small file, got the error and all of my files were gone again.
I tried to block youtube and facebook https in my router WRT610 V1 but the router fails blocking these websites. But, it does work for blocking youtube and facebook http.
So My ssid is naular and it has password protection. However there is another ssid from my router called "linksys" which is unprotected. I tried to change it and messed it up bad. Everyime I sign on to "naular" it makes "Naular 2" then Naular 2 3 then Naular 2 3 4 etc. Then I only get local access. I look at my wireless thing and it says i'm connected to naular 2 3 4 5 when I signed onto Naular earlier.
I had PCs, Macs and other devices (iphone, itouch) able to connect fine to the WRT610n. I moved to an apartment and when I turned the network on all the devices could connect expect for the iphone and itouch. I have tried turning the wireless security off and MAC filtering off . I get the same "Unable to join the network" message.
I have a WRT610 and am unable to connect any devices wirelessly. All the lights on the right hand side of the router are on except for the USB connection....what am I doing wrong? The router has worked for about a year flawlessly and last night all wireless connections quit.
I have an SF 300-08 switch with three V-LANs assigned to it. One is dedicated to the management of the device and the others are development boxes.
Right now, to access the switch, I have to go into the TCP/IP properties and assign a subnet within VLAN1 (subnet linked to the management interface). Then to access the interent, I simply remove the settings, as I have another VLAN linked to a subnet from my router.
Is there a way to configure the switch that allows the ability to access both without configuring the TCP/IP settings to be on the other subnet? I do not think so, but it is worth a try.
I have the SG200-08 switch that I am using for Link Aggregation between a Synology DS713+ NAS and my HP Z820 workstation.I have ports 1 and 2 set up as LAG CH1 connecting to the HP and ports 7 and 8 as LAG CH2 connecting to the NAS. I have AT&T Uverse as my Internet provider so I have one cable coming from my Uverse router to the Cisco switch to provide Internet access. I also am coming out of my Cisco switch to my Apple Airport Extreme providing Wi-Fi to my house in addition to wireless access to the NAS. I have no problem seeing and connecting to my NAS drive but my issues comes with regular internet access to my computer.I have created a Team with two of my Intel NIC's and connect just fine to the NAS. My Internet on the other hand is completely hit or miss. Some times it shows Internet access and will connect to web pages just fine and other times it will say no Internet. I have tried shuffling around ports, enabling/disabling certain settings that I have either read about online thinking that it might be one of my problems but at this point all of this IT lingo is making my brain bleed. I don't know if my basic settings are correct or if I need to change one simple thing to get this whole thing working.
I am able to access the internet. I am running Windows 7 on my laptop and have a wired connection between it and my intergrated router. The internet works fine, but it seems to think that I am not connected to the network. I'm not certain it realized that I even had a network, since when I try to activate media sharing it just gets stuck at "Identifying Network". The whole purpose of this is to be able to play music from my computer on my Xbox 360, alternative solutions for this goal would be good too.
I have High Speed Charter Internet going to a modem in form of coaxial cable with one Ethernet port available and one coaxial connection for TV and a phone jack. I have that Ethernet port connected to a:Motorola Wireless Modem[CODE]
I went out and bought a linksys 5 port workgroup switch. I tried to hook my internet into it and my other computers into it , THINKING, I would be able to get internet on all. No go. I can get inter net on one, as you can tell. but all others nothing. and to make matters worse i got win 2000, win xp pro, and linux that I like to get online.. I have : renewed IP's assin Ip's refresh, purge dns. rebooted. all and rebooted in diferent orders. double checked connections, tested all lines. The network is on a rj45 ethernet .
i have a asa5505 and sf300-48,in the sf300 have ip defult-gateway 192.168.1.93 and have internet in vlan2 but vlan 3 not work. ping from "vlan3" to "vlan2" its ok.
I start writing this post telling you that I'm not a qualified network admin, so I beg your pardon if I do not use appropriate terms in my question. Also my english in not so good since I'm Italian and my english in almost scholastic.
This is the "story" :
I bought two switches as described above and actually I have to create 2 VLANS as described below :
VLAN id 2 name "Service_A" ports 1-4 VLAN id 3 name "Service_B" ports 7-9
all other ports can stay in default VLAN1.
my network infrastructure have some other very simple swtiches connected and 1 soho router (static ip 192.168.1.1) with dhcp active and ip pool address released from 192.168.1.100 to 200.
the SG200-26 have static ip 192.168.1.254 and 192.168.1.253
MY NEEDS:
I need VLAN for privacy matter so all computer connected to ports in VLAN2 cannot see nor enumerate PCs and resources on other VLANs, but I also absolutely NEED that all computer in every ports (and every VLAN even default VLAN1) can access the internet.
I have 12 computers in Local Area Network, I am using 3MB DSL broadband, all PC using XP SP3 connected through D-Link Switch with IP address 192.168.0.201 to 192.168.0.212, The D-Link router gateway is 192.168.0.1Network diagram is as followsADSL modemouterIPC1, PC2, upto PC 12My problems are.1. All PC cannot access Internet, So I reset the modem, wait for a few minutes, if I am lucky, Internet comes back, sometimes have to wait longer 15mins or 30 mins2. PC12 is used for monitoring, but cannot see PC 1, the rest can see. When I try to ping, time out, but after sometimes....it came back, I can see PC 1, then disappear again. How do I solve this problems?Note, the ADSL modem provided by the Service provider looks normal, with Power, Ethernet and DSL lights ON.
We are having a workgroup of 12 Pc connected using a switch (hub) having all Windows XP SP2 and some of them registered Kayspersky antivirus 2011. We have internet access using D-Link 2460T (DSL wireless ADSL router) connected to our LAN using a network wire and having DHCP enabled. Everything was working well for 4-5 years but recently a problem appeared.
1. Around 100 laptops and desktop computers need wireless internet access, but some of them on limited times during the day.
2. Not all wireless devices are allowed on using the wireless network.
3. There are also wired desktops that don't need restrictions.
4. We need the possibility to restrict most of the wireless devices to access certain websites or use certain applications on those computers to use internet access during the times that the computers are allowed to access the internet.
5. We want to restrict the clients for using torrents or other possibilities of downloading illegal content.
What we were able to do:
1. The accesspoints (AP 541N) are clustered to achieve 1 large wireless network.
2. Only mac-adresses that are listed in the accesspoints are capable of using the wireless network. Other mac-adresses are not allowed to use the accesspoints.
What we tried already:
1. adding the mac-adresses for the accesspoints to the list of "internet access policy" in the router. Internet access seemed still possible during periods the access wasn't supposed to be possible.
2. adding the mac-adresses from all clients in this internet access policy seemed useless. Only 10 Internet Access Policies seem to be possible to program. 8 mac-adresses per policy. Knowing there are (at least) two policies needed to restrict a group of 8 macs to access the internet in 24 hours (because blocking the internet from f.e. 22u in the evening to 6 in the morning is not possible because 6 is smaller than 22 - or 10PM).Besides, after blocking internet access, we need also to write policies in blocking some websites or keywords.
I have a test setup of a C3750 stack as a core and some 2960's as access switches.[URL] - The switches at the bottom is the new network (VLANNED). The switches on the left is the current production network (10.1.1.0/24) From the C3750 to the router is a /30 network.
There will be 6 VLANs but at the moment I have one configured. VLAN50 - 10.5.1.0/24 From the C3750 I can ping my current production network, internet, other VLANs in the testsetup, ... Everything. From the C2960 I can ping other VLAN's, reach the gateway, reach the router, reacht the currenct production network. But I can't reach internet. I've configured "ip default-gateway 10.5.1.254" on the C2960. C3750 relevant config is down below. How is it that I can reach other networks connected to the router and not internet from the access switches? I'm just trying to ping 8.8.8.8.
! ip routing ! ! interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1 no switchport ip address 172.16.1.2 255.255.255.252
I have a Dell switch setup with 2 Vlan's. Vlan 1 is to the network. Vlan 20 is going to be for wireless access to the internet. How do I configure the switch/router so that Vlan 20 only connects to the internet and not the network? I will later want to have a 2nd SSID that I want to connect to both the internet and network.
I have a DI-604 D-link router, is it necessay to upgrade to newer router to get faster access to internet? Upgrade Firmware? I have a PD950 processor with Win XP pro and use it for DAYTRADING streaming data and fast executions.
I just picked up a pair of 18-port SG200s, and I'm trying to figure out of there's some secret trick to getting CLI access to them? I've upgraded to the latest version of firmware (1.2.7.76) hoping that may work, but no luck.I can tell the guts to support a CLI are there, because writing the config out to a TFTP server shows identical an identical config style to the SG500 I have here.Is there some way to enable it?
I connect to switch Access Point, configure port on switch which vlan work on this port. But after reboot AP my config for this port delete and have other config where vlan 1 untagged, and allow all other vlan. But in my cinfig allow 3vlan: untagged 100, and tagged 113, 999.
I have a SG 300 switch and configured it with public IP address.I can access it from anywhere within my network but not from outside my network as I'am not able to add the gateway and DNS address as there are are no fields to add them in the IP configuration menu in L3 mode.
