View 1 Replies View RelatedNow that Comcast is in the process of rolling out IPv^ to their customers nationwide, will there be a firmware update that properly displays the IPv6 /64 address as provided by the cable provider? Currently the only IPv6 address displayed is on the LAN page and is not configurable (greyed out) except for the prefix length. I already have a cable modem that will provide both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses as they are rolled out.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a business class dell laptop that I have not used for a year or so (Dell support has expired). Last time I used it I had no problem conecting to our business/office linksys. I took the laptop home and tried to conect to a new cisco linksys e1000 wireless router (was not able to connect). As far as my laptop goes, what hardware (internal wireless adapter/etc) needs to be updated with latest drivers. Does the BIOS need to be updated? I am running Windows XP Pro. Other than the service pack (I am not at home so I can verify current service pack) what else needs to be brought up to date (hardware/software)? I have played with this for days and am done doing so until the laptop is totally made 'current". I will hard wire laptop to router to do these updates.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter not seeming to be able to save any configurations in 12.2(25)FX, I thought an upgrade would work since it said it didn't recognize my browser or OS but let me continue. I was able to see everything just couldn't save changes.
I updated to 15.0(1)SE3 and everything seemed to be going well. Tried to log back in HTTP (have not set n IP yet since it is still at my house... DHCP seems to be working) and I get a user/password screen that says level_15_access and it won't let me in.
Attempts to log in terminal have been unsuccessful. I can log in my dell switch which I am replacing and my APC units terminal just fine using USB to serial and Ubuntu.
I tried cisco as a password, user and password, admin, administrator no luck.
What is the best way to resolve this, is there a sure fire windows serial program or settings I should use in linux (currently 9600,8,N,1) to connect? I have looked through manuals till I am blue in the face.
We have a server connected to a 3560 switch which in turn connects to 6500s. The gateway interface is on the 6500. We will be changing the 6500s so the mac address for the gateway will change, however the IP address will remain the same. As we change out the 6500s the uplink connections to the 3560 will go down. This will flush the old mac address from the 3560.When the 3560 removes a MAC address does it update servers so they have to relearn the correct MAC address?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy internet (via wifi) works just fine. But here is the situation that has me baffled-I have a house that has ethernet wired ports in each room, then there is a central hub in my closet. In the hub, I have a grey ethernet cord that is labeled 'service'. This service wire connects to a board that features 12 ethernet ports, 1 of which says 'in', 1 says 'security interface' and has a little nub in it, and the other 10 are not labeled. The grey wire is in the 'in' port.So I am left with 10 ports- port 3 of 10 has a (phone cord size) cord in it, connecting into the 'line' port on my Qwest modem/router. (Qwest set this all up for me, by the way). The modem/router is obviously plugged into the wall. Now- remaining loose in the hub are 9 ethernet cords- 5 blue, 4 green. Each one of these is written on in sharpie, and has a room label on it. 'Family, living room, kitchen, etc...'. So, pretty obvious, I simply found which cord corresponds to the room I am trying to use (family GREEN is one, family BLUE is another). These 2 wires correspond to the top port, and bottom port of a switch plate that is in my family room. Now- inside the closet hub I plugged family GREEN and family BLUE into the back of the ROUTER, ports 1 and 2 (of 4 available). Now- I went back to the wall- connected ethernet wires into the wall plate and then into the ethernet devices I am trying to use (slingbox and directv dvr). Neither are working.
If I go to setup menu on dvr it says it cannot find a network, not getting an ip address. is that the slingbox red lights are both solid (which means there is a connection), and if I go back to the router ETH1 and ETH2 are lit up on the front, again implying that I have a valid connection. This isn't rocket science, but I must be doing something wrong. Are the family GREEN and family BLUE supposed to go into any of the 9 remaining ports that are open inside the closet hub? Because my thought was- let's say hypothetically I wanted to use every available wall jack in my house. There are 9 wall jacks total, but there are only 4 ports on the router. So this would not work. But, there are 9 ethernet ports open on the board in the closet. So I must need to use the ports in the closet, NOT on the router? If so, are these closet ports specific? Because (remember I have a phone like cord coming out of port 3, going into the 'line' port on my router/modem) I took this phone like cord out of port 3, plugged into port 4. and 5, and 6, 7, etc... and none of them would allow my wifi to work- the INT light goes off on the modem/router at that point. But when I plugged back into port 3 (where Qwest originally put it), INT lit back up and wifi worked again. So this makes me think that these 10 (9 remaining) ports are specific somehow? I know this was a lot to read. End result I am looking for- continue to use my wifi on the computer (the ONE place in my house there is no wall jack lol), and connect my slingbox and my directv dvr to the wall jack in my family room so I can (have slingbox) and get On-Demand content for directv.
recently i have updated my firmware, once it said update complete, my internet shut down. I can get on the internet now, but i cant use my router. I have to run my ethernet through my modem now. I have tried resetting it many many times.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded an update for the 1370 wireless card from the microsoft site and now my wireless network doesn't work. I went to the dell site and got the driver directly from the dell site (R140747.EXE) and it fails after it reached 59% complete. I tried another download recommended from this forum (R151519.EXE) and the same error at 59%. I have tried everything I have seen in the forums (closing virus software, editting setup ini file, etc) and I still get Update 778 error at 59%. I am running on an Inspirion 6000, CARD (CIRCUIT), IRELESS, MINI PCI CARD, 1370, BROADCOM CORPORATION, Dlink wireless router, windows xp with sp2, USA. I have also received an error that says something about internal setting incompatible (unfortunately I didn't capture the exact wording - I will attempt to recreate the error) This is terribly frustrating considering I was only following the dell suggestion that I update the driver and now that I attempted it, my laptop is sitting not being used.

PIX 525 6.3(4)120
I am trying to allow clients coming in from my "DMZ6" interface with source IPs from the subnet 192.168.2.0 /24 to ping and access hosts on my "DMZ1" interface with destination IPs in the subnet 10.5.11.0 /24. I think I have the associated static NATs and the ACLs set up to allow this to happen. What I have noticed from syslog messages is that the PIX is trying to build the TCP connection to the "Inside" interface, rather than to DMZ1. Even though the destination host (10.5.11.12) is directly connected on DMZ1, the PIX is still trying to send the traffic to the "Inside" instead. I tried adding a host route to force 10.5.11.12 /32 pointing to DMZ1 and the PIX still tries to send the packets Inside. This only seems to happen when I try to go from DMZ6 to DMZ1. If I try to access hosts located in DMZ3 for example, which is also a directly connected interface on the PIX, it appropriately builds the connection to DMZ3. Here are the pertinent rules. Why would the PIX want to build the connection to the Inside, even though it knows that the destination host IP is directly connected to DMZ1?
ip address DMZ1 10.5.11.1 255.255.255.0
ip address DMZ6 10.5.16.1 255.255.255.0
ip address inside 10.5.18.17 255.255.255.240
