Cisco WAN :: Throughput Of NM-16ESW Card And Performance

Oct 31, 2011

what is the throughput of NM-16ESW and performance (mpps). I have 3845 router. All I've found on the datasheet: "Delivers up to 200 Mbps of bandwidth (full duplex) Layer 2; forwards and filters at full wire speed on each port".

Does it mean "200 Mbps full-duplex aggregate bandwidth availabe for all 16 i/f"? --> so the top limit of this network module. What is the throughput of a 3845 NM slot? NM-16ESW will be EOS by Nov 15, 2011. I could only find replacement for hardware except for newer IGR2 router (SM modules).

Cisco WAN :: Unable To Get Connection Between 2811 And NM-16ESW

Jun 1, 2006

For some reason I cannot seem to get a connection between the router and the switch.  I see the FE ports on the siwtch, sh ver  includes all 18 FE ports, but it seems that there is no backplane connection.  The only way I can get conenctivity to the switch module is to jumper between one of the routers FE ports and a NM port.  The switch will not accept any IP addressing on the same network as the router becasue of overlap.  Am I just being stupid?  My understanding was this NM would have a backplane connection to the router.  Some docs mention a GE conneection that should show up and there were two parts to the config, one to set up the interconnect and then to set up the switch.

Cisco : 1721 / 2610 - Old T1 Wic Is Not Interacting To V2

Sep 18, 2011

I've got three Cisco 1721's and a 2610, two of the 1721's are 32f's, the other one is a bit older but is still the same model. The two Cisco 1721 32f's have 1-dsu-t1-v2 wics in them, and the older 1721 has a 1-dsu-t1 wic in it. Now no matter how i have configured it the old t1 wic will not talk to the v2 wic. I've tried putting the old wic into a 1721 32f and it doesn't work at all!

What i have working:

router DCE (1721 32f with v2 wic) can talk to router DTE (1721 32f with v2 wic) no problem with this configuration.

Router DCE:

-service-module t1 clock source internal
-service-module t1 data-coding normal

[ code].....

Router DTE:

-service-module t1 clock source line
-service-module t1 data-coding normal

[ code]....

Router OLD (1721 with v2 wic) can talk to router DTE (1721 32f with v2 wic) no problem with same config. What doesn't work: Any router with 1-dsu-t1 (old) wic to router DTE (1721 32f with v2 wic). again same configuration as before, so whats going on that i cant get this to work? Is the old t1 wic not compatible with the new t1 wic?

Cisco WAN :: Loopback Testing On 2610 Router

Jun 22, 2011

I am working at a client site today.  The client has a large Frame Relay Hub Spoke network.  The Hub is at the HQ location, and then there are about 15 spoke sites in remote offices.

We are having an issue with the frame between the HQ and one of the spokes.  We are currently working with our dear friends at AT&T to troubleshoot the issue.  AT&T yesterday was trying to run a local loop test to the router at the remote (spoke) end.  We were working iwth them in trying to put the remote router (which we manage) into a loopback mode.  We were trying to use controller commands

COOP-Rappahanock#conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.
COOP-Rappahanock(config)#controller ?
% Unrecognized command
COOP-Rappahanock(config)#controller

That we seem to run out of options...

How can we put the subinterface that is the other end fo the frame into loopback mode so that a local loop test can be done between us and AT&T (provider)?

I can't figure out what it takes to get the APs to indicate to clients that it can do preauthentication. I'm been crawling through all the documentation I can find, to no avail.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Cisco 3750G Error During POST

Dec 5, 2011

I am trying to configure a 3750G that has been sitting on the shelf for several months and am getting the following error -

% Error: Unable to create flash:/microcode_update% Error: It must not already exist

Normally, getting an error during POST isnt a good thing.  My first thought was that flash was corrupted or flagged RO somehow. I did fsck flash: with no change.  I next tried fsck /test flash:.   It tested 77 blocks and performed 0 erasures.  It had been running for about 15 minutes with no problems reported so far.  Multiple reboots of the switch still report the same error.

I have reviewed the history of what I have done on this switch and finally think I found the problem.  I noticed a microcode_update directory that I am not used to see on a 3750.  Deleted the directory using the rmdir command and rebooted the switch.  On reboot, I noticed that a front_end/ directory was listed as being created as well as fe_type_1 and fe_type_2 were created.  The switch now boots up without any errors.
