Cisco Switching/Routing :: TR50 - Priority Queuing Of Packets On Frame Relay Subinterface

Nov 13, 2011

I need to get some low volume, interactive data, prioritized on frame relay PVCs across our network. I have followed the CBWFQ examples from cisco.com, but my test packets are still showing latency over 1 second. My lab set up has a corporate connected gateway router linked via FE to testrouter 50. TR51 has a T1 frame relay loop to another router acting as a frame relay switch. The other side of the FR switch has a 56k link to  testrouter51. I am sourcing test pings from my desktop PC, that are marked as AF43, and leave at a rate of 1/second, when the response comes back in time. I am using a Smartbits to generate some default class traffic at a rate of about 56Kbps only in the 'outbound' direction, toward TR51, as this emulates a file copy from corporate to remote sites, that is causing the AF43 traffic to suffer. Here is the relevant config on the TR50 device:

class-map match-all rtu-data
match ip dscp af43
!
policy-map frame-56
class rtu-data
    priority percent 20
class network-mgt-data
    bandwidth percent 5(code)

I don't see this Gigabit Interface @ 3845 router has any option to set it to internal or external loopback.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560 - Configuring Qos / Traffic To Go Into High Priority Queue

Nov 19, 2012

i have a 3560 connecting to a sp with limited bandwidth. i have one interface on the switch whose traffic i do not want to drop. i want this traffic to go into the high priority queue. i am not sure how this should be configured, but here is my best guess and my current qos configuration on the switch:

qos map cos-dscp 0 8 16 26 32 46 48 56
mls qos srr-queue output cos-map queue 1 threshold 3 5
mls qos srr-queue output cos-map queue 2 threshold 1 4 6 7
mls qos srr-queue output cos-map queue 2 threshold 2 3(code)

since cos 5 is mapped to dscp 46 then this traffic would go into the priority queue. is this correct ?

Does any know how I would need to get this configured on the 2911 router?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3845 Gigabit Interface

Oct 26, 2011

We have a number of 3845 routers, some running IOS 12.4(22)T2 and earlier and some running 12.4(24)T4.  On the ones with 12.4(22)T2 and earlier, gigabit interface g0/1 shows interface down/line protocol down when there is no cable connected to the interface and the interface is not in shutdown state.  On the ones with 12.4(24)T4, gigabit interface g0/1 shows interface up/line protocol down when there is no cable connected to the interface and the interface is not in shutdown state.  Interestingly in both cases, the "show controller g0/1" command shows " network link is down (NO CARRIER)" when there is no cable attached.  It makes sense to us that the interface status would be down/down when there is no cable attached.  It does not makes sense to us that the interace would be up/down.  Did Cisco at some point change their philosophy on whether an interface should show down/down or up/down when there is no cable attached, or is this a bug?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3650 - Speed Negotiation In Interface Gigabit

May 18, 2013

I have a question about speed negotiation process between interfaces. I have 3650X Sw and 2960S-48port. All ports of two are GigabitEthernet, however the link between them is only 100Mb/s, Full duplex. I try to set the speed 1000 Mb/s manually in the interface then the interface never up. Its status is down/down. I must set back to speed auto. I show interface Gigabit0/24 in Sw 3650-X and figure out that there are many output drop (over 600000). I clear counter then after two days the output drop is over 70000. This link is trunk link between two switches, all ports of access SW are Gigabit and connect to PC. First, I thinks the 3650X is throttled somewhere in  output direction of trunk link. But there is another trunk link (Gi0/23) to another 2960S-48port and no output drop number in this interface. This Giga 0/23 speed is 1000 Mb/s (auto speed, auto duplex)

Does any outside things impact the speed negotiation process between 2 interfaces? And output drop number may caused by abnormal speed between two Gigabit interface?

Cisco WAN :: 2911 Not Passing LAN Traffic To Public Interface

Sep 23, 2011

We have a 2911 Router running 15.0(1)M4. G 0/0 is our LAN interface, and it has three subinterfacesG0/0.1 is our data LAN, and the gateway for our Windows machines.  This is the interface this question concerns.G0/0.23 is a separate LAN for various equipmentG0/0.192 is another LAN for equipmentG 0/1 is connected to the internet, and has a public address.S 0/0/0 is a T1 PPP, connected to our core data centerS 0/1/0 is a backup T1 PPP, again, connected to our core data center.There are three static routes entered:ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.12.1.1 100 This is the first PPPip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.13.1.1 200 This is the secondary PPPip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 255 It currently has a cost of 255 while i figure this one out. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx represents the cable company gateway, which I can ping properly.  I've also used "gigabitethernet 0/1" in place of the next hop ip with the same results. The public interface is properly connected, and can ping it's next hop (the cable company gateway).  When I change the static route for gigabitethernet 0/1 to a cost of "0", the router can properly ping DNS names, such as google.com through the public interface.

However, devices on the data LAN cannot reach any public addresses except for the router's public interface, let alone DNS names (I am using 8.8.8.8 as my test IP).  If I revert the cost back to 255, making the PPP the gateway of last resort, these devices can again connect. (they travel through the PPP to our Data center's internet)

This confuses me.  If our server, on the same LAN as the router can ping the public interface (it's definitley not leaving the 2911, as latency is less than 1ms), and the router itself can ping outside addresses, what is preventing the router's public interface from passing traffic to the internet from any source other than itself?  I have attached our running config in the hopes that there is something obvious I'm missing (the public ip addresses have been changed so they are not exposed).  I simply want clients on our 10.23.0.0 LAN to get to the internet via the public interface of the local router, and still connect to corporate resources using the PPP links.
