Cisco WAN :: RVS4000 Unavailable Every 30 Min

Apr 13, 2013

2 months ago, I bought a RVS 4000 for my personnal use. I recently had fiber with about 200Mb/s in download and there are no router that can handle such speed so I search online and I found the RVS4000 and the new on RV180 ... My shop near my house only had the RVS4000 so I bought it (even if I know that it had some problem and it was discountinued...). I check all the problem online and it was problem on the VPN part... so I bought it.

But since I had it, It seems like my connection was dropping every now and then... so I start to check my installation at home... I check the network error... nothing.. I change my network cable... still the problem...

So I called cisco and they send me another one... so I put it back online... and then... same problem... I ask a friend at work, he tried to understand and tell me it was maybe my personnal switch because it was old... so I change it.... but same problem...

I start to track my bug...  I found out that there was a hidden telnet available on the RVS4000 so I enable it to see all the process available...

I made a linux script to see when the router was unavalaible ... and I found out that it was every 30 min... I was able to have at the same time a "top" command on the router in a shell ...  I found that a process was reaching 100% of cpu use and the loadaverage of the router was increasing from 0 to 5 or 10 sometime... And my laptop was starting to lost packets... (this is normal because the router isn't able to process the connection)...

I try all the firmware (old and new) I try also to put the router in factory default state ... same problems...

I attached a copy of my screen with the network unavalaible..

So from left to right:
ping 192.168.1.1 (the router)
ping google.fr (from my laptop)
on the top right:
top (on the router)
bottom right:
my script which tells me that if the routeur is avalaible or not

Default Gateway Is Unavailable For Laptop

Jan 15, 2013

I've been trying to connect to the internet all day. Every time it connects, but only with limited connectivity. I run troubleshooting, but it doesn't fix the problem. Sometimes it won't have anything to report back other times it says that the default gateway is unavailable. My laptop is the only device in our home that won't connect, so I don't think it's the router.I think the router is a cisco router, there is a cisco box mounted on the ceiling with a cord leading into it (I don't have access to any buttons though)I live in an apartment building with free internet, so I'm not sure who the provider is.

Default Gateway Is Unavailable - Cannot Display Webpage

Jul 6, 2011

I got new internet installed in my apartment, intending to use the same WAP as I did on the old network. The only thing that changed from the old network to the new is the cable modem, which is identical to the old one. Currently, the WAP does not connect to the internet, although I can connect through an ethernet cable to the modem itself. My theory is that the modem is set to a static gateway, while the WAP is not. To try to fix this, I attempted to access the default gateway at 192.168.2.1. Of course, I couldn't remember the stupid password, so I tried different passwords with no results.

Now when I try to access the same IP, it loads for a few minutes, then says 'cannot display the webpage' and gives an option to diagnose connection problems. I know the internet still works, because I can go to any other page I choose. Diagnosis produces the following: 'Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (192.168.2.1) is not responding' (no error code given). Maybe this is a stupid question, but was there a limit to the number of times I could try a password? Additionally, I can't get to 192.168.2.1 on a different computer, on a different network, either. When I try the ipconfig command, the default gateway line comes up blank.

Unable To Identify Network / Gateway Unavailable

Oct 2, 2011

I've used a newly purchased laptop, Acer Aspire 5733Z-4614 to connect to wireless networks before, including the network I'm currently on (/w another laptop), however, recently it has been unable to go through to the internet, but does successfully connect to the network. The encryption seems to be OK, since both laptops are using the same WPA2-Personal AES, and this (currently connected) laptop does just fine. I've read through a few other articles on this site but haven't been able to pinpoint the problem. To my knowledge I have not changed any settings since it has worked correctly.

Cisco AAA/Identity/Nac :: 5520 - Change Shell Profile In ACS / TACACS Server Unavailable

Jan 17, 2012

I have two Nexus 5520 running 5.0(3)N1(1c).

I have both boxes heading off to ACS for TACACS lo gin authentication and for command authorization. When I first set things up everything works fine. I have a shell profile configured in ACS with Cisco-av-pair*shell:roles="network-admin" to set the network-admin role. I even have command sets configured to deny the use of configure terminal as I am using switch configuration profiles. Everything runs fine. User lo gins are authenticated by ACS and users have the correct command set applied to them.

The problem comes when I make a change to a shell profile in ACS. Even something as simple as changing the name of a shell profile causes the 5520's to crash as soon as I try to log on. If I unplug the management link so that the TACACS server is unavailable I can log on fine with the local admin user.

The NEXUS console reports this error. (amongst many others)

EDNAM-NEXUS-2 %$ VDC-1 %$ %SYSMGR-2-SERVICE_CRASHED: Service "Tacacs Daemon" (PID 4331) hasn't caught signal 11 (core will be saved).

A show system reset-reason shows:

TP-Link ADSL2+ Wireless :: TD-W8968 Has Begun To Freeze Up / Web Interface Being Unavailable

Nov 29, 2012

Region : Sweden
Model : TD-W8968
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 0.6.0_1.1_up(120926)
ISP : HessleholmNetwork

My TD-W8968 has begun to freeze up. It had been running for about two hours before this happened. It's a "slow" process that starts with the web interface being unavailable, i'm unable to connect to the modems web interface. And at about the same time it becomes impossible to connect new devices to the wireless network. Right about this point i did a speed test over the modem and performance was abysmal. It was so slow that my web browser believed that it was offline! But i was able to re run the internet speed test once more before it totaly locked up! At this point it was impossible to use the TD-W8968.

This was the,, i don't know,, perhaps the fifth time it happened in a row. It has been running perfect for two months before it began acting up like this.I have done a reset of the modem, didn't solve the problem.I have also done a reflash of the firmware, i've had the latest firmware since i bought the TD-W8968. But the reflash didn't solve it

Cisco Routers :: RVS4000 ACL Modification Bug

May 16, 2012

I have an RVS4000 running V2.0.2.7 firmware that gives me an "Invalid Character(s) Found" error message when I try to edit an existing ACL.

I'm trying to deploy 57 of these routers and would like to be able to use a pre-built config dropped onto each router.

I initially planned on editing the exported config with a find&replace for my local LAN addresses. Since that didn't work the next reasonable solution would be to edit the ACL list (much more tedious, but still better than hand-entering every ACL on all 57 devices).

when this bug will be addressed? Alternatively, if there is an offline configuration editing tool I would be one happy camper to have it!

Cisco VPN :: RVS4000 As VPN Switch Server?

May 26, 2013

In the past a used an RVS4000 as a VPN server for my company, but since I recently moved my company to China I would like to use it for a different purpose if it's possible. What I would like to do is the following:

Use an ADSL router to create a LAN networkConnect my RVS4000 to the ADLS router and use it as a switch instead of a routerUse the RVS4000 to connect to a VPN server abroad over L2TP or PPTP . This would allow me to enjoy the best of 2 worlds:

Enjoy the full broadband speed of the LAN network created by the ADSL router for normal internet useHave a separate wired connection permanently connected to VPN giving access to company email etc...  My question is: Is this actually possible?

Can the RVS4000 be used as a switch? When used as a switch, can the RVS4000 still be used a 'VPN receiver'?  I'm possible trying to do the impossible, because I would have to have the ADSL router have to act as a DHCP server and disable DHCP on my RVS4000 in which case it is probably impossible to have the RVS4000 act as an L2TP/PPTP VPN receiver.

Cisco Routers :: Two RVS4000 Don't Connect To Each Other

Sep 4, 2011

I don't know if my vendor mislead me, but I need to do this: There is a public subnet in my office, not a 192.168.x.x, but a real Public IP.The reason is that we do VOIP and those are only servers. I installed a RVS 4000 in that location, and assigned a PUBLIC Ip to BOTH the WAN and LAN, since when I connect from outside, using either QickVPN or another identical router, I need to be assigned one of the PUBLIC Ip's on the remote LAN. That is the whole idea of the project, to locate servers remotely and make them use our set of PUBLIC IP's. Well, so far I cannot connect either with the Quick VPN client, or using the VPN Wizard. It goes and creates the tunnel, without error, but when I click test, it fails.
