Cisco WAN :: UC520 / FQDN Converted To IP Address?
Jul 11, 2011
I am trying to setup time service on two devices. Once is a UC520, the second an 1840 router. I would like to use the FQDN of the time server which is north-america.pool.ntp.org. This is the recommended procedure as per ntp.org due to changes of IP addresses of time servers.
On the UC520 this is not a problem. I type in "ntp server north-america.pool.ntp.org" and this is how the command stays in the config. On the 1800 the FQDN is resolved and inserted into the config as an IP address. This works for now but kinda defeats the purpose of using a FQDN.
trying to remove a MAC address or FQDN from my router. Lexmark printer was installed and died. Lexmark replaced, but old MAC is still embedded in router and my laptop only sees the old, no matter how many times I reinstall.
Hotel only has a wired connection to the internet so I connect to it by ethernet cables. Can I turn then turn my pc into a router? So that I can use my pc as a wifi hotspot for my iphone/blackberry for example? or as a wifi for another laptop to feed through wirelessly?
We have Cisco UC520 Router, We are facing Network problem in our Office due to high memory & CPU Uses of UC520, sometime 100% CPU Used of UC520 and we have lossed internet access from Router from last two day's, all was going well before two day's, we haven’t had this happen before Last Thursday, but when I reboot router it's working again

I just converted AP 1142 to LAP using the image "c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA2.tar".
The WLC is a 5500 with 2 NIC : one on 192.168.0/24, one on a specific vlan 10.20/16 The main management interface is on 192.168/24 but we defined as management the interface on the 10.20/16 network.
For the access points, we use ports on a native VLAN on 10.20/16 with other available VLANS which are used for the wlan networks
We have 1152 APs which work fine on this config but that needed to be registered on the 192.168/24 network, then we moved them in their VLAN 10/20/16 and they work fine.
We also have 1142 APs which have been upgraded to LAP. These AP do not work with our architecture. They register correctly on the 192.168/24 network, but do not give access to the wlan VLANs. If they are moved in the 10.20/16 network, they don't register to the WLC (message : Timed out while waiting for ECHO repsonse from the AP). The AP do not get an IP.
is there a restriction with VALNs on these AP ? or is something false ?
I converted my old telephone wiring (Cat5e wire) to Ethernet by adding keystone jacks and then tied all the rooms together. I test every room for continuity with a LAN tester and everything showed up OK. I then plug my Ethernet in one of the keystone jack and check for internet in every room with my laptop received no connection. I connect the same cable to my laptop and everything works fine
Have an issue where have two locations trying to get connected. first location has a cisco 861 and a uc500 for the phone system. The second location is using a UC520 for the phones and as the router. Below are the configurations of the 861 and the UC520.
Cisco 861 Current configuration : 7635 bytes ! version 15.0 no service pad service timestamps debug datetime msec service timestamps log datetime msec
We have bought autonomous APs AIR-AP1141N-E-K9 and converted them to the lightweight mode, but they cannot join the WLC 5508. The errors are below. There were NO problems with the LAPs that were bought before, together with the
WLC.AP's IP: 172.22.90.27 IOS version 12.4 WLC's IP: 172.22.90.20 IOS version 6.0.188.0 logs from the AP: Translating "CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER"...domain server (255.255.255.255) *Oct 13 21:37:06.044: %CAPWAP-5-CHANGED: CAPWAP changed state to DISCOVERY *Oct 13 21:37:06.045: %CAPWAP-5-CHANGED: CAPWAP changed state to DISCOVERY *Oct 13 21:37:06.046: bsnInitRcbSlot: slot 1 has NO radio [Code] .....
The time is set to the WLC with the NTP. Don't lookup at the time the logs were made - they were made not during the same day/time
I am constantly getting error on UC520W Wifi from last Night, I am not getting with this error. What is the cause of this error, or is there any issue on UC520. [Code] .........
I have a wireless network using the cisco ap 1041 converted into the anonymous. however it seems like every morning or evening I have to attached it back to the SSID all over again. it will not give me an ip address. I also would have to put the encryption key in again. I am using WEP 40 bit.
I have a server that I lease that is hosted at a datacenter. Our company is going to lease a half rack and put our own equipment in it as well as a disaster recovery site. The problem is that the one server I mentioned has SQL on it and we have applications that were devloped in house ages ago that hit that SQL instance. Those applications are hard coded to the IP address of that server. We could just change it in the code, but the source code for one of the applications have disappeared over time. Now that you know my situation, my question is this. Can I make a NAT rule or something that says when traffic is destined for xxx.xxx.xxx.123, to re-routes it to xxx.xxx.xxx.321? Currently our endpoint device here is a Cisco UC520. The other end we have no control over.

I've configured in an UC520 a SSL VPN.I can access properly and I can see the labels, but I only can access urls which are http, not https:I can access the default ip of the uc520 (192.168.1.10) but When I try to get access to a secure url I get the msg: Failed to validate server certificate I'm trying to access a Cisco Digital Media Manager, whose url is URL Does the certificate of both hardware has to be the same?
When we connect an Cisco 7971g and an pc everything is working fine. But when i start wireshark on the pc behind the phone you see a lot of UDP Traffic source UC520 destination 239.10.16.8 or 239.10.16.16. At this point i m getting confused. So i start looking for the cisco phone config, VLAN ID on the phone is 100 (i think that is ok) but the PC-VLAN part is empty?
The main thing is, how can i stop this cisco-sccp traffic on the pc port (prtg shows me a average of 200 kbit/s) i think it is an config fault.
I have an ACE4710 with a few basic farms running and it works great however I now need to implement an SSL proxy service for the first time. The requirement is that clients who are already using FQDN's need to be sent to diffent real server IP addresses as each client will have their own VM. All the clients will use the same global IP address with different A records.
My users on 571 need to access a web server on the 469 interface. However, the requirements are that the 571 users can only access the Website using the public FQDN which there is a static NAT from outside to 469. [code] Here is also the Packet-Tracer and it shows what I expect that the traffic is source from 571 and exits 469. However, the users are not able to access the website.[code]
We have dns server(only Internal IP) inside our network, right now we have configured Remote Access VPN using Public IP and we connect it using the same Public IP. I need to use FQDN instead using Public IP.
I have a video hosting server on vmware and I need to be able to connect to it through it's domain name. It needs a FQDN. On it's network config it has spaces to enter in FQDN, IP, Subnet, and two DNS. It must use FQDN to connect through http.I was told I can just open up the system32/driver/etc/host file and edit in the info, ex: 1.1.1.2 [URL] I tried to ping 1.1.1.2 and it does ping, and I even tried to ping [URL] and it pings (not connected to the web). But I can't get the web interface to connect when i put in server.com:8080 (needs 8080) into my web browser. FYI, I have no idea about the DNS space on the server, I just put in some random number. Why does this server need a DNS anyways? This computer is not connected to the web or any other computer. It's just this computer and the vmware server on it.
I have a Wireless-G broadband router WRT54GS and have figured out how to enable logging. This gives me the IP addresses, but I would like to be able to easily see the FQDN so I can see what my kids are looking at on the web.Is there a way to get that information via the built in logging feature? If not is there a way to take the log file and run this through sometype of program that will generate the FQDN's?

I may have phrased the topic not too clearly, but I have an external domain name of mail.company.com , I want my users INSIDE the company be able to also get to url..., currently they cannot (nothing loads, looks to me as if firewall simply drops it) and I'm drawing a blank on how to get this done. Externally this works fine so if you're outside the company you can load up OWA just fine since my NAT rule translates the external IP to internal IP, but something is blocking this from the inside.
I have an ASA 5510. If you can just sent me on the right path with theory I'll figure it out on my own, I don't need exact steps, but I must be thinking of this wrong as I'm not getting anywhere.
I recently upgraded my modem and before then my internet connection was working. I was able to connect to websites and all. But once i upgraded it wouldn't allow me to connect. my other computers are able to but not my main one. My ISP told me to bring it in to the shop cause they said something was blocking my connection. I ran some basic things i saw on the internet. i am able to get to web pages through ip address but not through the [URL] type ones.
I'm trying to add an access-list rule to allow internal servers to connect an outside host on a asa 5540. The hostname translates to multiple ip's. Normally I just lookup the ip address or one of the ip's the hostname translates too and use that in the access-list as the host. For some reason the actual ip's, which are a few, are not always available so using a specific ip sometimes does not work, thus the reason I have to use the hostname instead of the ip. I have 2 hostnames. www.hostname.com and subdomain.hostname.com.
This is how I normally add these rules (the ip addresses are fictive): access-list internet_access extended permit tcp host 192.168.50.5 host 84.115.57.121 eq www log
When I try to add this using the hostname on our asa I get an error: access-list internet_access extended permit tcp host 192.168.50.5 host www.hostname.com ?ERROR: % Unrecognized command
I've tried it without the 'www', so hostname.com but same error.
I am trying to connect my RV110W from my home office to our office IPSec router. I have a dynamic IP address and am using DDNS, therefore the RV110W local endpoint needs to be configured with my FQDN, not the IP address as this will change.
On page 100 the manual states
Step 4 -
• Local WAN (Internet) IP Address—Enter the public IP address or domain name of the local endpoint (Cisco RV110W).
This option is not available in my router - I am running firmware 1.2.0.9
All the other switches / routers on quering for SNMP sysName.0 returns their FQDN in our network. The Nexus 7010 and 5020 switches in the network return only their name. "hostname xx" and "ip domain-name xx" defined on all the devices. The SNMP MIB is matching. There are no other SNMP related issues. How can I get the FQDN for these devices ?
$ snmpget -v 2c -c public m-65k-00.core sysName.0 SNMPv2-MIB::sysName.0 = STRING: m-65k-00.core.abcd.com $ snmpget -v 2c -c public m-N7K-00.core sysName.0
I am having an issue where occasionally the Sidewinder starts to see my internal RFC 1918 address instead of the configured external address of my firewall. This is for peering between the two. The error they see on the Sidewinder is:So instead of seeing the external peer address he sees a 10.220.3.18 address. We are not sure what triggers this becuase normally he see's my 63.117.98.222 address.
I have an old ASA 5505, and I'm having some trouble with Nat Hairpinning. I've done this with other firewalls before and I am having no luck now. I have an internal address that I wish to forward from an external address- so if someone goes to 123.456.789.012:3456 then it will forward to 192.168.1.244:92 (All numbers are arbitrary here- only for illustration). I have and Access Rule and NAT and PAT set up so that I can get in if I originate from outside the LAN. What I am trying to do is to have this work from inside the LAN as well- so that if I am at my desk, and I connect a device and type in 123.456.789.012:3456, it will deliver the content at 192.168.1.244:92. The problem I am having is that it just isn't working, and I cannot figure out why- When I started here, there was an address configured to work this way, and it still works- I just cannot find what is different between what I am doing and what the person who configured it did.
I switched from Time Capsule with AirPort to E2000 and have a problem with configuration.I use the same IPs as in AirPort and E2000 gives me an error:"The WAN IP address cannot be the same subnet as the Guest Network IP address" and I can't save configuration. But in my opinion they are different.I use "Static IP" option and I have IPs from my ISP: [code] So WAN IP is different subnet as LAN and I don't know what to do now. It worked with these settings in AirPort and here I can't proceed.
I have a Linksys WRT54GS v5.1 router running firmware 1.52.5.I am trying to use Linksys IP Phones SPA942, but these do not seem to be able to log on and just show "Initializing network" even though the MAC address appears in the router with an IP address. The strange thing is that I already have 4 SPA941 phones that work with no problem and just log on to the network. Is there something about the SPA942 that I need to configure differently, I have factory reset it with sucess, but still unable to log on to the network.
