Cisco Switching/Routing :: UC520 - Forward One IP To Another

Apr 11, 2012

I have a server that I lease that is hosted at a datacenter.  Our company is going to lease a half rack and put our own equipment in it as well as a disaster recovery site.  The problem is that the one server I mentioned has SQL on it and we have applications that were devloped in house ages ago that hit that SQL instance.  Those applications are hard coded to the IP address of that server.  We could just change it in the code, but the source code for one of the applications have disappeared over time.  Now that you know my situation, my question is this.  Can I make a NAT rule or something that says when traffic is destined for xxx.xxx.xxx.123, to re-routes it to xxx.xxx.xxx.321?  Currently our endpoint device here is a Cisco UC520.  The other end we have no control over.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Getting Configuration For C3560x And UC520

Sep 9, 2012

Let me start with some infrastructure details ...

Cisco C2901 as our Main Router
Cisco UC520 as Communication Platform
Cisco C3560x as Core-Switch
 VLAN 10 : Data
VLAN 100 : VOICE

Everything is working but i m not sure if the switchport config is right in that way.

As an example :

interface GigabitEthernet 0/6
switchport access vlan 10
switchport mode access
switchport voice vlan 100
spanning-tree portfast

When we connect an Cisco 7971g and an pc everything is working fine. But when i start wireshark on the pc behind the phone you see a lot of UDP Traffic source UC520 destination 239.10.16.8 or 239.10.16.16. At this point i m getting confused. So i start looking for the cisco phone config, VLAN ID on the phone is 100 (i think that is ok) but the PC-VLAN part is empty?

The main thing is, how can i stop this cisco-sccp traffic on the pc port (prtg shows me a average of 200 kbit/s) i think it is an config fault.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Configure 819 To Forward Ports For SQL And VNC?

Aug 15, 2012

I'm trying to forward ports for SQL and VNC using these commands in the CLI:

ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.150 5900 interface GigabitEthernet0 5900
ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.150 5800 interface GigabitEthernet0 5800
ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.150 1433 interface GigabitEthernet0 1433

where 192.168.1.150 is my server (that hosts SQL server and that I want to be able to connect to remotely using VNC) and GigabitEthernet0 is my configured WAN interface.

When I try to connect from an external client I get the error:  "Failed to connect to server..." Is this a firewall issue?  How do I get round it?  The 819 is the only router/firewall in my network.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Catalyst 3560 Switch Won't Forward Packets To Or From MAC Address

Aug 9, 2012

I have some Ethernet-connected cameras that all have the same Ethernet MAC address FF:FF:FF:0A:0A:0A. They were originally designed to directly connect to a Windows PC, but they can also connect through a simple unmanaged switch.A Catalyst 3560 switch won't forward packets to or from anything with that MAC address, at least not by default. Is there a way to convince the switch to do so?

It was my hope to replace the dedicated connections we have for these cameras with a separate VLAN for each camera, and switch them through our existing switch network. Given that all of the cameras use the same MAC address, putting them on the same network is out of the question, but different VLANs, where the only two devices on each VLAN were the camera and the PC that uses it, would be fine.

The switches run IOS 12.2(55) SE through SE3. I learned the camera MAC address from the PC's ARP table while the camera software runs; it turns out the cameras don't have a full IP stack either and don't even do ICMP.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560G 15.0(2)SE - Show Platform Forward Command Crashes Switch?

Dec 5, 2012

I have been working on some Catalyst 3750's running 12.2(55)SE6 and hit an issue with CEF load-balancing over multiple equal-cost paths.  Anyway this issue is now solved but it introduced me to the command 'show platform forward' - this shows you how the forwarding of a packet would be done via hardware cef (as opposed to the command 'sho ip cef exact-route' command that only shows the software cef path).  Anyway I tried the command on a 3560G running 15.0(2)SE and it crashes the switch.  I tried it a couple of times and verified that the MAC & IP addresses were exactly right in the command and each time the switch crashes. I have extracted the relevant bits from the crashinfo and attached them.

Cisco WAN :: UC520 / FQDN Converted To IP Address?

Jul 11, 2011

I am trying to setup time service on two devices.  Once is a UC520, the second an 1840 router.  I would like to use the FQDN of the time server which is  north-america.pool.ntp.org.  This is the recommended procedure as per ntp.org due to changes of IP addresses of time servers.

On the UC520 this is not a problem.  I type in "ntp server north-america.pool.ntp.org" and this is how the command stays in the config.  On the 1800 the FQDN is resolved and inserted into the config as an IP address.  This works for now but kinda defeats the purpose of using a FQDN.

How can I keep the 1800 from converting to IP?

Protocols / Routing :: Forward Or Redirect From IP To Domain Name URL?

Oct 15, 2012

I am not an expert at routing but was wondering what the most cost and time effective way to have an ip request return with another ip address from outside the WAN of the router. Specifically want to have an application request for example 192.168.1.121 and have 173.194.43.41 respond and communicate with the application instead. To make it a bit more interesting I'd like actually to set a table or config file to point to a domain name (url) which gets resolved as an ip address. (Port independent) To get a better understanding: one example might be typing in 192.168.1.121 in a browser and googles search engine comes up on the browser.

another example might be typing in 192.168.1.121 in an ftp client and it hooks to an ftp server on the other side of the world which resolves to ftp.this-is-a-test.com.Make sense? I was looking at openwrt and tomato a little but I don't think I have such a complete grasp on how to do it in general. Being that it seems they are 2 different layers of the network model, I was told it can't be done but I don't know if I can believe that yet. Either by third party software orreprogramming the router or adding another device to the network, I have a feeling that it seems like such a simple redirection that it can be done somehow
