View 5 RepliesI had a question regarding the Cisco 2811. I tried fitting an NM 2FE-2W card and the fast Ethernet interfaces of the module never get recognized. Is there a special command to enable it or isn't the module supported at all by the router. If not , is there a way to have the router possess more than the 2 Fast Ethernet interfaces it already has? Let me know if any more info is needed from my end.
Another question I have out of curiosity. Is it possible to make the controller T1 port of a VWIC 1MFT-T1 or a VWIC 2MFT-T1 act as a fast Ethernet.
Get the message initializing and then it hangs when I insert the sim card. Have a Rogers wireless stick. a Latitude 2023.

We have a few remote sites that connect back to HQ with T1 & DMVPN (Cable/DSL) for data. Our CM Publisher/Subscriber reside in HQ. We recently installed FXS cards in these routers to provide Fax functionality to our remote sites since we will be removing some POTS lines.
Can we register the 2811 as a voice gateway (I am thinking MGCP as with VG224's we have in production) and have it handle faxes with FXS card as well as route data or will we need a separate device for this?
I have a VIC 2Fxs card and it is not getting recognized in the 2811 router. I checked the cisco website and I saw that the FXS card for the 2811 is a VIC2-2FXS. If i were use this, do I insert it in the HWIC port or do I use a Voice 2V module to insert the FXS card and then insert it into the router. Also , is there any other FXS card that can be used apart from the VIC2-2FXS.

I have a 2811 router runnning IOS 12.4(21) and have added an HWIC 1FE card to slot 2. But the card doesnot show up in the router and all the three lights on the HWIC card is steady green. I have gone through some cisco documentation and found that i have to upgrade the IOS.
I have few questions before doing the upgrade.
1. Which IOS version should I upgrade to?
2. Will this erase my exisitng running configuration ? I have VPN services, PPPoATM, PBR etc.. all running on this router at present.
3. Presently i have a 128 MB CF card on the router. Will this be enough or do i need to upgrade this card also? Can i choose an IOS which will fit into this card otherwise while keeping all existng features?
4. I want to use the HWIC card for the ISP's internet service through PPPoE. Will this be possible with the upgraded IOS ?
I am trying to connect HWIC-2FE Card to my Cisco 2811 Router. The router is unable to detect the card. I get the following error message:

have remote routers boot and load a config from the flash card. It seems this is possible if the Flash Class is A, according to the Cisco web site using the
boot config flash:<Config file>
where <Config file> is the file on the flash.
Although this can be applied on 2811 routers, they fail to load the file on the flash card. I've since found that this router type has a Class C flash. So the question is, can either:
Is there a similar process for other classes of Flash cards, specifically Class C?
or
The router flash be set as a Class A to support this functionality,
The preferred resolution for this would be the first as there are many remote routers installed a diverse and difficult locations to visit, should a format/rebuild of the flash fail for some reason.
don't ask to list the output of a show boot or show bootvar, neither of these commands work. The Startup/Running config lists the boot config line.
I am facing the problem as my CISCO router is detecting the RS 530 DCE cable as DTE 530idb. I am using this cable for X25 link connectivity. The same cable has worked for more than 1 hour with detecting the cable type as 530 DCE, but suddenly it stops the X25 data transfer. After that the cable type it is showing as DTE 530idb.
Below troubleshooting already carried out.
1. Changed the slot, but same output.
2. Removed the cable & reconnected, but same output.
3. Without connecting to the DTE device also, the cable type is showing as DTE 530idb

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am planning on implementing a metro ethernet circuit to replace a more expensive circuit to connect my office and data center. This circuit will be configured by the provider in a 'transparent' manner, which will allow us to pass vlans freely over the circuit without having to create a QinQ tunnel. This is a layer 2 only metro ethernet circuit.Planning on connecting the office end to a 3750 (switch A) and the data center end to a 2960 (switch B). The data center end will have a couple of other 2960s hanging off of it for server connectivity (switches C & D). I plan to use a 2811 (router A)for layer 3 connectivity in the data center. Switch B will plug into router A and switches C & D will plug into switch B using two port-channelled links. I can post a diagram if needed.I will use rpvst here and configure switch B as the root bridge. There are about 10 vlans that I use between the office and data center. Router A is also used to connect to other environments such as staging, production and also to the internet. I think this should be a straight-forward configuration since it is mostly layer 2. Should switch B be the root bridge?

We inserted a new module with 48 rj45 ports in a 4500 with just one supervisor module. We have two 4500, and we tried the new model in the other 4500 and it´s working properly and giving a OK status. Furthermore, the module´s LED status is green. We saw that there are 8 ports (from 17 to 24) that are in faulty state, so probably this is the cause for the faulty state for the module.
We tried already a Hw reset, replace/insert again the module...
We are almost sure that it can be a Hw failure. We are getting the following results different commands:

I need to install a ethernet card into a pci slotI have an old HP 751n that has a ASUS P4S333-M motherboard. When I look at the ethernet information with my motherboard it says:

I recently acquired a new mobo to tide me over until I can get the spare money to order a new one (which probably won't be until after the first of the year) however, the board, while better than what I had, has some problems hence why I got it so "cheaply". The problems I had with it have been fixable/liveable with. Anyways, here's a description of my problem and some brief applicable system specs.
The ethernet port on this board was bad, knew that from purchase date. However I ordered a brand new card (10/100MB NIC PCI Ethernet Card), installed it, and the drivers all loaded, and the card is listed as working properly. I have no internet connection or network connection even listed. The way my system runs is as follows.
Computer/Ethernet Card -> Cat5 -> ASUS Router -> Cat6 -> ISP Router -> Outside
I have tried hard lining it direct from the ISP Router as well to no avail.I've even tried using the ipconfig.exe commands. Including /release, /flushdns, /renew. But, whenever I open the DOS panel with the command it just disappears in a millisecond.I know the PCI port on the board isn't bad because I literally just removed my USB expansion card from it to install this one. I even tried switching it with the other 2 PCI cards I have installed and they all work perfectly so it's not the PCI slot.
Is there a PCI Express 2.0 Gigabit ethernet card [NIC] which i can install in this motherboard where usually one installs NVIDIA graphic cards?

NEED TO FIND PROPER NIC . MY COMPUTER HAS NO ETHERNET PORT
I've been having some problems with my Ethernet connection lately. The problem started early last week. I'm currently relocating, so I unplugged my laptop from the Ethernet connection I had at my old place. At two different locales, I have tried to use an Ethernet connection in order to get better speed (the wireless at the first locale was non-existent and at the second it is extremely slow in my room). I have done so with two separate cables that I have tested on others' computers and found that they are perfectly fine. That, of course, leads me to believe that it is my computer and is either a hardware or software problem (here's hoping it's the latter).Anyway, my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1720 (purchased in 2006). About a year ago, I updated to Windows 7 from the pre-installed Vista. Never had any problems (as I said, everything was fine up until about a week ago). The installed card is a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller. Everything under Device Manager indicates that the hardware is working properly and has all of its drivers installed, but nothing is working.I have tried to uninstall and re-install the drivers (albeit by allowing windows to find them automatically), but the result is the exact same.I have checked the port and found that there is no debris or obstructions. My computer hasn't been dropped or mishandled in any way.
