View 1 Replies View RelatedI have CAT5e running through out the house. They all start at a 4x10 telecom punchdown module and end with non standard jacks. When I unscrewed a few wallplates, only the orange, white orange, blue, white blue are connected. The greens and browns are snipped off. I don't much care if I have a telephone or not (my cell phone is my only phone), I'm thinking of pulling all the cat5e off the module and attaching RJ45 plugs on them. Seeing that only the wires I mentioned above are connected at the wallplates, do I need to terminate all the wires on the RJ45 plug or only those four?I'm not planning on going up to a 1gb connection right now because I only have 20mb service anyways. Also, will I still received data only using those four wires?

Type exit to close the black form. Now connect the router to be converted only to a computer via network cable and log in Setup the wireless security Disable the DHCP and change the LAN IP to match the gateway IP but ending in something like .253 Finally connect one of the four LAN ports of the AP to the main router, do NOT use the WAN port.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have a couple of smaller remote locations running cisco 1811W routers (built in switch ports & wireless). Now I have been tasked with determining if the wireless portion can be converted to Lightweight or not; if so what is required.
I am running
WCS 7.0.230.0
WLC 5508 (same code)
i have a air-lap01131-ag-e-k9 that was originally in lightweight mode and configured with a controller, but i am in the process of wanting to convert to autonomous mode, i am having issues with connectivity to the AP from my laptop.
i have followed numerous guides on this forum, i have successfully
downloaded correct firmware
renamed the firmware to .default
placed this in root of tftp server folder
connected laptop via console to view output
connected laptop via Ethernet to Ethernet port of AP
changed static ip on laptop to 10.0.0.2 set subnet mask to 255.255.255.0, default gateway to 10.0.0.1
held reset button on AP when applying power and waiting for radio light to flash red
AP gets a IP address then of 10.0.0.1
But even though both laptop and AP are in the same subnet, i am unable to ping the AP from my laptop and it doesn't start the tftp process
I have disabled firewall etc, and tried with both crossover and straight through cable, it seems there is something missing at this last stage, i even tried on a second laptop but that would not ping either, am i missing something.
I have an AP 1141N-A-K9, from autonomous system, with this IOS ( c1140-k9w7-mx.124-21a.JA1), and a WLC 5508 with Version 7.X
I want to convert this AP to lightway to use with this controller.
I download de Version of IOS (c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA2.tar) from cisco and the upgrade tool. but when I start the process in the upgrade tool the result is "this version is not supported by the upgrade tool", it pass all the requested information but show this error at the end.
Is it possible to convert an Autonomous AP 2602i to Lightweight just changing firmware as the first generation Aironet APs?
View 2 Replies View RelatedApparently converting autonomous 1142N to lightweight is not supported by ether WCS 7.0 or the Upgrade tool. The option is to do it manually with CLI, but there is about 200+ AP's that need converting. We can't do them all at the same time. We have to do it building per building.
