View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a D-LINK 601 router which has been working fine. I was told by a friend that it is not password protected. I think that I have set it up now with an adm password. The router and the DSL modem is still connected as before, but the Internet LED blinks orange.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe D-link dir-615 is not working. The modem is working perfect, because its the internet that im using right now (its connected directly to my laptop, so i know its the router for sure) But i want to make the internet on my modem wireless, but the D-link router has the orange globe light turned on (as im typing it still has the light on) and i just dont know whats wrong with it. I have already tried reseting it like 2 times, and it still doesn't work. When i connect my router, all it does is acquire the network address, and it just stays there, so no ip address will be detected... I might just buy a lynksys router, d-link sucks. This router was bought years ago by the way. It hasn't been used since like now.
It isnt the computer, i tried disabling the firewall, and reconnecting, but it just stays in 'renewing ip address' (the same things happen with all of the other computers that try to connect to it in my home) I click on the wireless icon and then on 'support' and next to IP Address it says "Invalid Ip Address"... The globe still remains orange on the router..
I have a question concerning the Internet LED Status Indicator. The manual states "A solid light indicates connection on the Internet port. This LED blinks on data transmission".My router seems to be working fine but the Internet LED on my 615 is blinking orange.Reason??

View 14 Replies View RelatedI upgraded then downgraded from 2.00 to 2.03 back down to 2.00, and whenever I'm doing about 600kB/s+ it resets itself. Drops connection drops wireless, wired, and the globe internet icon goes Lambert/orange. I've reset the router to default and it still does that. What could be the cause?
I've done a lot of changing around, disabling unicast, changing from WPA Auto to WPA2, etc etc, I just changed the router to Netgear WGR614 v7 and it works perfectly fine now.
I have a DIR 601 with a actiontec GT701D modem. When I shut down my computer the globe on the router goes from green to orange. The modem people say their modems are always on Am I missing something on the DIR601?why?

Is there any way to change web interface / firmware from orange version to blue version? Blue version has more options and better "System log" presentation page.
With firmware 2.06 my DIR-600 had transmit power choices 100%, 50%, 25% and 12,5%.(even 12,5% gave me excellent strength on all my devices, what is really the difference)But after updating to firmware 2.11 (via 2.10, othervise my DIR-600 refused to use 2.11)the choices for transmit power is now only "High", "Medium" and "Low". know the percentage values for those three settings?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI came home after a few days vacation to find all the lights blinking on my router. I have tried unplugging and rebooting. Same result. I then bypassed the router and have internet on my main computer so I know it is a router issue. I use the router for my laptop and cell phone. Do I need to figure out how to do a master reset or is the router toast?

The D-Link light is green and the power light is amber, no other light is up (LAN or Internet).I've try to do a reset, no effect. Can't connect to the router even with a LAN cable (LAN lights stays dead with a working cable and computer plug-in).

Did a bad dd-wrt flash and now all it does:
-no power light
-solid green lights: WAN-L1-L2-L3-L4
tried to go to recovery mode (power on while holding reset switch).....does not work.my search on the internet revealed, that after bad flash, power light still comes on, maybe as orange, maybe blinking, or just blinks once
I successfully linked a DIR-655 (A4, FW:1.21) via WPS.
I then updated the DAP-1522 to FW:1.21 from 1.1.
Things looked great. I then moved it upstairs to my home theater.
Plugged it in and got a blinking power light. Completely unresponsive to either linkage or 192.168.0.50.
I have followed everyone advice listed either here or in Amazons reviews. And from my own experience with similar electronics the flashing power LED is indicative of a "brick".
I have initiated a replacement shipment from amazon. Just wanted to see if anyone had seen this before.
Orange Broadband is logging me off Second Life, It seems the web/internet has hundreds of post users suffering the same problem. Orange fails to have heard changing to DNS settings might work. But do not know how to do that in Windows 7
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have got a TP link wireless router connected by TP link power line ethernet adapters connected to my sky box, one to Samsung Smart TV, which both work fine the third I have connected to my computer. This shows up as as a local area connection but with no internet access. I have similar problems to other people with internet access dropping out after installing Windows * and had hoped an ethernet connection would be more stable. Any thoughts on why I can't connect to the internet via my powerline adapter.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-825 stays on even when I flick the power switch, for as long as I don't disconnect the externally powered Belkin USB hub from it. Some lights do come off, Internet light turns orange, but it stays on. If I disconnect the hub before trying to shut down the router, it turns off instantly.
I feel slightly worried by this because as far as I am aware, a USB client device shouldn't be feeding power to the host. On the other hand, the host shouldn't be accepting power from the client either.
Also, sometimes after days since last reboot, the USB light on the router is not on despite connected devices, and they may or may not appear in Shareport.
I have access controls setup on my DIR-825 which work fine until there is a power outage and my router comes back up.I am using Automatic Time Configuration and have the NTP server set to ntp1 [URL]When the router comes back up I checked to make sure the NTP server option is still enabled, and it is, however the current time is totally wrong. To fix this I had to go to the pull-down, select 'ntp1.dlink.com' and then save the settings. After this the time is correct again. This is as bad as not having the Automatic Time Configuration option at all, since I can't guarantee that the power won't go out. I do not have a UPS hooked up to back up the router, nor do I see why I should need one if the Automatic Time Configuration actually worked.know if there is a way of making the Automatic Time Configuration reliable so the time on my router is automatically corrected when the power comes back up?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Dir-615 stopped working some weeks ago and I switched to another router until I had time to look at it. Tonight I checked the ps voltage and it read exactly +5v but just for a test I tried another 5v ps (which tested a little higher) and it worked. The ps that works reads about link +7vdc. Before this the power light came on with the occasional blink but I could't connect.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just gotten a DIR-615 and replaced a working linksys G router. I configured it to work with my ipad (wireless N), my laptop-win 7 (N), and my desktop-vista (USB connected N). Everything works ok,. I'm using WPA personal, WPA2only, AES encryption, 3600, 802.11n only, auto 20/40 mhz channel width, invisible.
Here's the problem. As I powered up and shut down the laptop each day, it wouldn't connect to the router. I could see the connection, but windows said it couldn't connect. I had to go and unplug the router, count to 10, and then plug it in, and tell the laptop to connect and then it would connect it would be fine.
I thought it might be a compatibility with the laptop driver, but after powering down the desktop today, I had to do the same power cycle on the router to get the desktop to connect. So then I went and turned off the IPAD and had the same thing happen. 3 for 3.
I'm pretty sure its router settings and not the 3 devices, this never happened with the Linksys router, but I don't know what to change.
One other odd thing, when I view the network in windows, the DIR-615 icon is there (for about 15 secs), and then it disappears (for about 5 secs), and then reappears (15 secs), disappears (5 secs), etc. - almost like its dropping out for 5 secs... I haven't noticed a performance hit, but haven't transfer big files yet.
I have a Cisco E4200 router connected behind my Comcast cable modem.
The small LED lights located at each network cable plug-in on my router are continually blinking orange all at the same time over and over.
I also notice on all my computers that are wired to this router the small LED lights near the network card plug-in are also blinking orange.
what these orange lights mean and if I have a problem?
My internet service seems to work OK but I'm not sure what is causing all these orange LED's to blink and is there something wrong that imay be slowing my system down.
I have upgraded my Cisco router to the latest firmware and also power reset my cable modem and router several times with no change in the problem.
My Access Point Power Led blinks constantly, Lan led works normally, Wlan led never turns on.

On my D-link routher the power supply broke. I instal another one but it has 2.5A as output instead of 2A as the broken one has. Is it dangerous.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've setted the unit in BRIDGE MODE, and attached on it 3 LAN devices, 1 PC Desktop, 1 NAS WDBE and 1 HP printer ... OK all config process was right and all my units talk togheter via AP Netgear DNG2000, and so i can use for instance the printer with my laptop too connected in WI-FI N. Now usually, In the night I turn off all my devices (DAP included), and when in the morning I need only the printer used by my laptop, obviously I turn on ROUTER - BRIDGE - PRINTER - LAPTOP but NOT the DESKTOP ... and so the DAP can't reconnect automatically to the router (both the lights AP/BRIDGE are on and fixed) ... I turn on the PC and the BRIDGE reconnect to the world .... BUT I DON'T WANT turn on everytime the desktop !
1) all gears has fixed IPs
2) DHCP server deactivated on the AP main router (DNG2000)
3) no WPS used, only WPA2-PSK (AES) personal keys on all gears
once that DAP-1522 is connected to the router .... all work fine (also when I turn off the DESKTOP).so the workaround is never turn-off the DAP ? I can't believe ... and who will save the energy planet

View 1 Replies View RelatedOur DIR-615 has started freezing and when reset (power cycled), it reverts to factory settings. This has been running 24/7 for several months with no problem. Three days in a row now I've woken up to find our home network is down and the DIR-615 status lights are "yellow". Power cycling the DIR615 resolves the problem however the DIR-615 looses its settings, reverting to factory defaults (looses the admin password, wireless settings, etc). I can reload the settings from a file saved on my computer but needless to say, this is a bit annoying. I don't believe there are any wireless clients connected at the time as most of the wireless is served by an airport two floors up. There are several wired devices always connected:
a Zoom ATA carrying our "land line"
a tivo (doing whatever tivo boxes do)
a SSL based Voip phone (different than the zoom ata)
an AirPort Express 802.11n (bridge mode) which may have a couple of wireless clients
a laptop which may or may not be sleeping at the time
There are a couple of ethernet switches in the network. Some of the devices acquire addresses via DHCP, others are assigned fixed addresses outside the range of the DHCP addresses served by the DIR-615.Nothing has changed on the network in months.
The only settings I've messed with on the DIR-615 are:
a) set the admin/user passwords
b) Set the wireless network name, enable WPA, set the WPA Key
c) enabled ntp (this is now disabled and I've set the time manually)
d) Change the network base from 192.168.0. to 192.168.4.
The DIR-615 is hardware rev E3, Firmware 5.10 The cable modem (from RCN) is a Scientific American model DPC2100R2
My situation is as follows: A modem in the hallway closet with an internet connection via a coax cable. A living room with an i Mac and a Philips PFL9604 TV connected to the wireless network. The wireless network is provided by a new TP- Link TL-WR1043ND router which is setup next to the modem.
I would like to do the following:
Stream content such as HD movies, shows etc from the i Mac to the TV. Use the TV to watch missed shows with the apps on the TV via internet. Make use of the internet speed upgrade (75 - 150 m bit/s) which will come in a few months. However the signal of the router currently isn't strong enough to maintain a stable connection since it's too far away. The distance from the router to the TV and the i Mac is 12 meters and 6 meters with a wall in between as well. Now I can't move the modem from the hallway closet else the signal to the modem will be too weak nor can I wire an utp cable from the hallway to the living room and put the router there.
I have come up with two possible options now:
Use power line adapters by plugging one into the hallway socket and one in the living room so I can put the router there.
I currently have these power line adapter to try out, however my internet connection occasionally drops while using these adapters. Take the old WRT54GL router or a second TP- Link TL-WR1043ND and use WDS to create 1 network and have good coverage in the living room. The i Mac and TV can then be connected via Ethernet cables to the second router if necessary. I assume it would be best to place the second router closest to the first one for the strongest signal.
The second options seems the best to me as the power line adapters don't seem very promising based on my experience so far. I would like to know if connecting two routers is a viable method to obtain good and stable coverage in the living room?
