OK i'm re-organising my network setup, most of my devices in my room are hard wired through Ethernet but some devices in the house need to run wireless.Currently i am running a super hub that has been configured into just modem only and a wireless router that gives wireless and hard wires up to 4 devices. Im wanting something that can be mounted out the way like an Ethernet switch but give it wireless accessibility too. I see you can buy access points to connect to your Ethernet switch device but will it give ample wireless connectivity if im running 4+ hardwired devices?I have recently been upgraded from 30Mbps to 60Mbps, this is fed from cable connection to the modem.

When I try to find where to select between the different encryption types (TKIP or AES), I see the info on page 87 of the product manual, but this doesn't match what I see in the Manual Wireless Network Setup screen. You can select WPA Personal (in Security Mode), but there are no further panels below it to select encryption types and enter the PSK. Compare page 30 to page 87. There are extra panels on 87 that don't appear on 30, and I can't find a way to access them while accessing the router.I've got the unit set up and running; works fine with my wireless laptop. It's just that I need to be able to switch between things in order to troubleshoot a setup with an internet radio I'm trying to get running (Grace Digital, which apparently doesn't do 802.11n, only up to g).

I am switching a switch connecting to the ASA5550 tomorrow. My current switch is using fiber connecting to the ASA. The new one only support copper. If I switch between fiber to copper on the ASA (change media-type command on interface) will it cause a down time? I have VPN tunnel on the ASA and don't want the session to reset.

my house has 4 ports in each room, 2 coaxial, 1 for the net, and one for a TV, and there's a phone jack and a Cat5e Ethernet port. From what I have learned, all my ports lead up to a "closet", and I have found it. It has all the connections for the LAN, and everything else. I am confused on what to do next. I see that there are blue Ethernet cords connected to the ports on one side, and that they are not connected to anything on the other. I thought I had to buy a switch for all these ports, and I haven't done so yet. where am I supposed to connect the modem to the internet. It is currently connected to the internet coaxial port, which it then connect to the VoIP switch, and is then connected to everything else. Where is the coaxial port that I have to plug it in to, and what is it labeled?.

I'm trying to get a DS lite connected to my university's wifi, which I learned doesn't broadcast a Wireless-b signal, which a DS needs to connect. Can I setup a my own router connected to an ethernet port, configure it to boardcast wireless-b and get on wifi through that? I asked another forum which said yes, but I want to make sure before I buy anything.

I am switching out routers. I have some ports forwarded that I know I need to copy down so I can open them up on the new one, but besides that, what else do I need to do/know before replacing the old for the new?Currently, we have a TRENDnet TEW-431BRP. We are replacing it with a Netgear WNR1000.Is the new one good? I didn't set up our home network. Someone from my dads previous business and friend did it for us. So I don't know what exactly was done in the router settings to set everything up.
I figured just copy the ports that needed to be opened in the new router and maybe use the same WEP password for wireless stuff. I need to take note of with this working outer so I can apply it to the new router while I still have a working network with all its setting to refer to before I take the network down.

My internet (via wifi) works just fine. But here is the situation that has me baffled-I have a house that has ethernet wired ports in each room, then there is a central hub in my closet. In the hub, I have a grey ethernet cord that is labeled 'service'. This service wire connects to a board that features 12 ethernet ports, 1 of which says 'in', 1 says 'security interface' and has a little nub in it, and the other 10 are not labeled. The grey wire is in the 'in' port.So I am left with 10 ports- port 3 of 10 has a (phone cord size) cord in it, connecting into the 'line' port on my Qwest modem/router. (Qwest set this all up for me, by the way). The modem/router is obviously plugged into the wall. Now- remaining loose in the hub are 9 ethernet cords- 5 blue, 4 green. Each one of these is written on in sharpie, and has a room label on it. 'Family, living room, kitchen, etc...'. So, pretty obvious, I simply found which cord corresponds to the room I am trying to use (family GREEN is one, family BLUE is another). These 2 wires correspond to the top port, and bottom port of a switch plate that is in my family room. Now- inside the closet hub I plugged family GREEN and family BLUE into the back of the ROUTER, ports 1 and 2 (of 4 available). Now- I went back to the wall- connected ethernet wires into the wall plate and then into the ethernet devices I am trying to use (slingbox and directv dvr). Neither are working.
If I go to setup menu on dvr it says it cannot find a network, not getting an ip address. is that the slingbox red lights are both solid (which means there is a connection), and if I go back to the router ETH1 and ETH2 are lit up on the front, again implying that I have a valid connection. This isn't rocket science, but I must be doing something wrong. Are the family GREEN and family BLUE supposed to go into any of the 9 remaining ports that are open inside the closet hub? Because my thought was- let's say hypothetically I wanted to use every available wall jack in my house. There are 9 wall jacks total, but there are only 4 ports on the router. So this would not work. But, there are 9 ethernet ports open on the board in the closet. So I must need to use the ports in the closet, NOT on the router? If so, are these closet ports specific? Because (remember I have a phone like cord coming out of port 3, going into the 'line' port on my router/modem) I took this phone like cord out of port 3, plugged into port 4. and 5, and 6, 7, etc... and none of them would allow my wifi to work- the INT light goes off on the modem/router at that point. But when I plugged back into port 3 (where Qwest originally put it), INT lit back up and wifi worked again. So this makes me think that these 10 (9 remaining) ports are specific somehow? I know this was a lot to read. End result I am looking for- continue to use my wifi on the computer (the ONE place in my house there is no wall jack lol), and connect my slingbox and my directv dvr to the wall jack in my family room so I can (have slingbox) and get On-Demand content for directv.

I'm trying to set up a wired ethernet connection to a wireless Belkin router. The wireless router works fine - I have several devices that will connect wireless with no problem. The hp desktop I'm trying with the wired connection is showing that the ethernet connection is working, but it's not asking for the wireless network name or security code, and the internet will not work?I made sure the desktop was set up to automatically obtain IP addresses, then I did the "ipconfig /flushdns / ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew commands, but it still won't work.

I recently purchased a Mac and wanted to reset my wireless router and set it up using my mac. However, when I downoaded the software to set it up again, it said it was not compatable with my Mac OS (X Lion 10.7.4). I am sure there is a way to manually set it up via an ethernet connection, but I am at a loss as to how to do that. The wireless router is working just fine, I am able to connect to the internet wirelessly and there's nothing wrong with my internet service, however the wireless router is not secured.I have my Mac connected to the wireles router via an ethernet cord.

Trying to set-up a p2p link between a L2 fast ethenet module (within a 2900) to a 6506.Have created a subinterface SVI on the 2900 and put the fast ethernet port in the respective VLAN. However on 6506, am I correct in thinking I can do a no switchport and just create a L3 interface? Do I need to put the 6506 in the same vlan and the fast ethernet module and create a L3 SVI on it? As it's not a trunk port between the 6506 and the fastethernet module, the packets won't be tagged?

i bought a Linksys E2000 router. When i went to set it up, i noticed that the old router has a phone line connected to it. When i looked at my E2000, I noticed that it didn't have a phone port in it (Rj11). Not sure what to do. Would it be possible to buy a Rj11 to Rj45 converter and just use that to connect the phone line to my router?

I recenly installed LMS 4 on a windows 2008 R2 system , I didnt change the default configuration of windows or ciscoworks.I just added devices and configured basic things on the LMS system .when I open ciscoworks on the server itself it starts a browser session on http port 1741 and then changes automatically to https even though the default config is browser security disabled on ciscoworks.I try to open a browser session on a mgmt station to the cisco server , it didnt work in https ( I did get the login screen but couldnt log on , probablly something to do with the certificate ) , so I open http on port 1741 and it worked , I was able to log in .After a few Hours for some strange reason I didnt have access any more from the mgmt station not in http nor in https , the only way was to access it from the server itself.I went and changed the default setting of the secure browser on LMS 4 hopping that would work , I was asked to restart the ciscoworks service for the changes to take affect , I tried to restart it but it was unsuccesful so I restart the whole server. when it came up ciscoworks didnt work most services didnt start ( like the web server ,tomcat and all the manual services and ciscoworks deamon)

I am facing two issues in BGP both the topology and Config files.Because the link between Vail and Telluride runs iBGP, both routers will learn about the networks in AS 300 and AS 400 through native BGP only and both AS's do reach each other. Both routers are also running OSPF with Aspen and BGP routes are redistributed into OSPF domain. Now, Aspen knows about the networks in AS 300 and AS 400. Now suppose the link between Vail and Telluride fails, both AS 300 and AS 400 can't reach each other anymore. The only solution to this is to redistribute OSPF routes to BGP on Vail and Telluride. But when i did this, only routes with "O" learned by Tahoe and Alta. In other words, Tahoe sees only 192.168.1.220, 192.168.1.196 and Alta sees only the same routes. Why the redistribution from OSPF to BGP didn't advertise the O E2 routes?
This actually was discussed before but i still can't get it. It is not an actual issue. It is about "Syncronization". I know that we've said many times to turn on Sync. when we do redistribution from BGP to an IGP to make sure that the routes are installed correctly in the IGP routing table. However, as you notice in the configuration, i didn't enable Sync. on Vail and Telluride for a long time and redistribution still works fine.

I have CiscoWorks LMS3.2 with RME4.3.1 and CS 3.3.0.
When I will update the devices and I go to Common Services - Software Center Device Update and I mark Resource Manager Essential then I receive this window:
Now I choose the Rtr2900 package (same problem for all six packages) and when I will download it, then after define the destination path for the file I see this window:
Then I have tried to download it manually with the following command: PSUCli.bat -p rme -d -dst c:psu_download -all
The six packages that are showed in the picture above were not downloaded.
I assume that there is an error on Cisco side because the size of the six packages is NA.
Or is there another possibility to download the package for the Rtr2900?
