i bought a Linksys E2000 router. When i went to set it up, i noticed that the old router has a phone line connected to it. When i looked at my E2000, I noticed that it didn't have a phone port in it (Rj11). Not sure what to do. Would it be possible to buy a Rj11 to Rj45 converter and just use that to connect the phone line to my router?

I rebooted modem, router and computer with no luck. It's like I've lost my network adapters and I don't know how to get them back. I tryed another E2000 and it's the same way.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Slingbox PRO-HD and the iPad software to view HD on my iPad when I'm away from home. When I setup the Slingbox using their web-based configuration program, it reports that I do not have my network configured for the best performance for internet viewing, which is what I need for the iPad. I suspect that I don't have port forwarding for port 5001 correctly setup on my system. I can successfully connect to my Slingbox away from home on my iPad and my laptop, but the performance is indeed poor.
I have a cable modem and two E2000 routers. The first E2000 is connected to my cable modem in my home office and the second E2000 is in my home theater. How do I setup port forwarding for the Slingbox PRO-HD on port 5001? Also, what is the best way to setup two E2000 routers so that I can use both as wireless access points?
I was wanting to port forward a port that was 25565 for a game of mine, but everytime I try it won't work.
By the way, it's 7AM and I didn't sleep yet so i'll explain more detailed in the morning.
I'm using a E2000 Router.
I currently have cable internet connected to one router (Linksys E2000 w/ firmware v1.0.03). That router is connected to another router, a Linksys E3200 w/ firmware v1.0.02. In order to properly forward ports through the E3200, I understand that I need to set up a static IP on that router.I've basically followed the steps outlined in this video, but when I enter all the IP addresses for Static IP settings, it won't allow me to access the router's setup page. I try entering the new IP that I've given it (which it tries to direct itself to automatically after I save the settings) and the connection times out. I am able to access the internet otherwise, however. From here I'm forced to do a factory reset on the router and start from square one.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe Port 80 port fowarding stops functioning after a few hours and requires the router to be rebooted to start forwarding again. The firmeware is the latest 1.0.04 Build 7. I require it to operate reliably for many days without intervention. I assume that it is a port forwarding problem because I can access the IP on my network from within my network even when I can't access it from outside my network. I am using the correct IP addresses as it sometimes works OK. A characteristic is that when I can't access the page it loads as completely blank white with no error message.

I wanted to port forward it so that they go into the game without using hamachi, or any other networking program. The switchports areconfigured as: switchport mode access
My rationale behind this is that the phones would use CDP to get their VLAN info from the providers Cisco router and the PCs would just ride on the default VLAN. But this is not the case. Computers randomly keep getting DHCP info from the provider's router. Do I have to use voice vlan x and make the switchports trunks?

I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).

View 1 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago I set up FTP on my QNap for the first time. To my surprise I was able to connect to it from an outside network with no further configuration needed. Since then I have had a bit of an issue with firmware. I ended up wiping and upgrading the QNap. Since then I am unable to connect. Some resources are saying the only problem is that I don't have port forwarding set up. I guess my default router settings were already set up to forward the port (I'm not sure how to confirm) because it worked originally, the only thing that changed is my QNap settings. I would like to be able to use it as a FTP, MySQL database, and a few other things. Will I have to do a different configuration for each one?
My network set up is like this: Verizon Router/Modem -> Linksys Router e2000 -> Qnap (ethernet)
I accessed my verizon router and under port forwarding it says "Protocol: FTP, Ports: TCP Any -> 21". NAT is disabled on the Linksys so does that mean I won't have to configure it at all because it is set up in bridged mode as a dummy switch?
What IP should I be using to try to access it remotely?
When I try to connect to my QNap IP I get this in Filezilla:

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy internet cut out last week and after calling my ISP I found out it was in fact my router that was causing the problem (regular connection to PPOE works fine). I've only had my E2000 about 2-3 months and have not had any problems with it. I've restarted the router, done a factory reset, upgraded the firmware, renewed the IP and still I cannot get any connectivity. I can access the router UI fine and I get a response from pinging it and also I have tried replacing the cables but that didn't fix the problem either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using E2000 currently and meet a wireless connection problem. The speed can up to 300M bps. When I confiured the E2000 to band auto (20-40mhz) and my wireless network card to work at also auto (20-40) mode, it always down to 144M speed when connection.
If I changed some settings in E2000's wireless configuration, in the status sheet I can see it works at 40MHZ. But after a while,(5-10 mins) it automaticly down to 20MHZ and my labtop connect only got a 144M speed.
how can I deal with that to make it always keep at 300M connection? Note the previous router I used to connect to my lattop can always keep that speed.
I currently have my wired cable internet hooked into my wrt310n. I have that hooked into a linksys 10/100 ef3124 switch. From there, I have cat5 run to the back of my house, where the wireless signal is weakest. I've got an E2000 router and would like to hook that in at the back of the house. I have the latest software version for the Cisco software.I have noticed that Cisco sets up the same password to access the router setup page as the wireless password..Anyone that connects to the main SSID will be able to connect to the setup page at 192.168.1.1...I know that I can change the password in the linksys setup page to whatever I want, but then when I open the Cisco software, it wants me to change the password to match what the administrator password is.Don't they realize that a wireless password is different than the Administrator password to access the router settings?

Other times, after 10 minutes or so after booting up, net pages stop loading. The small yellow exclamation mark appears, and every time I run the troubleshooter, the same info comes back to me - DNS server is not responding. Until I restart again the internet wont work, but on occasion things seems to fix themselves and continue working until I shut down.This problem never happened before i moved back home. In my previous apartment we had comcast cable and it ran without a hitch. Since I have been home this DNS problem has persisted, but only on my computer. It worked fine until one day, without any change at all, it simply stoped working. I mean, I can still connect through my wifi laptop connection (it shows connected to my router and says that I have an excelent signal). But, I can't reach the internet. But, If I unplug the internet cable, and plug it in my laptop, the connection works fine. A friend told me that this could be caused intentionally by the internet provider, that they would block my signal to avoid me using a wireless router, trying to force consumers to sign their own wireless service. Thus, by this friend advice, I've cloned my laptop's MAC address to the router. It didn't work either.
I have a Cisco E2000. When i connect to my cable modem directly, I get 30-35 MBps down and about 10 up. When I plug in to my E2000 it does that at first... but slowly over time, the speed degrades, usually down to about 5-6 down and 3-4 up. If I unplug the router, it typically restores full speed, but not for long (a few days maybe). Also, when I unplug the router, it is pretty hot.
