I recently had a HD failure on my dell e1505. I replaced the HD and installed XP; everything seems fine except the modem doesn't work. It did before the HD crash. The diagnostic program does not indicate any modem at all, as if it were not installed. The Wi-fi light does not come on and it does not work with an ethernet cable plugged into the modem.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron E1505 running windows xp. Also an HP Photosmart C6180 wireless printer. This happens every time I move. I get the computer on the network and the printer on the network but they don't talk. I can't ping the printer and I can't bring up the embedded web browser. I can print the network config page from the printer but can't print a test page from the computer.I've disabled my firewall. That hasn't worked. I've tried creating a port especially for that ip address. However I don't have the disk for the printer and when I had to select my product, it only showed the C6100 series BT. I don't know what BT means but I selected that. I don't know what that means but it still won't print. The printer shows up in my printer and faxes menu but when I ran the HP print diagnostic utility no printers were displayed.

I have installed all the latest drivers, also. The problem is that I can connect to my WiFi network but it is stuck on acquiring network address. I have tried releasing and renewing the ip in command prompt, reset winsock, and have mad sure all the correct services are on automatic and are started.
View 27 Replies View RelatedI have had my dell inspiron e1505 since 2007. It has worked fine (minus having the motherboard replaced and having to reinstall my OS multiple times in the past). At the beginning of December, I moved to a new apartment and got Verizon internet. I have no problem connecting to the network, it says excellent strength. But my internet doesn't work. On the 'manage internet connections' page, there is a red X from network to internet. I've even tried connecting with the ethernet cable and it still won't work!! Right now, I'm on my boyfriends HP laptop, connected to the same network and able to connect to the internet just fine.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop that is about 6 years old running Windows XP. I have a Dell desktop with a cable modem and Linksys wireless router connected to the desktop to run my home wireless network.
Yesterday the wireless no longer worked on my laptop. I have a small wireless icon (looks like a computer monitor) with a yellow triangle with an explanation point inside. The messages are 'Signal Strength: Excellent' and 'Status: Limited or No Connectivity'. I have tried the following with no success:
- Rebooting the laptop (multiple timess)
- Resetting both the cable modem and router
- Turning off the desktop, resetting both the cable modem and router, and rebooting the desktop
- Took my laptop to work where a wireless connection is available and received the same messages
Thinking my wireless adapter / wireless card is bad I purchased a Linksys wireless USB adapter and just installed it. However it also cannot connect to my wireless network and issues a 'Open network Failure' error.
The Internet works fine from my desktop but is directly connected to the modem. I have not tried connecting the modem directly to my laptop to see if it would pick up the connection.
I recently reinstalled my OS of my E1505 and was installing drivers from the Dell Resource CD (which was for an ME051, is this a problem?). But, after installing all of the drivers and system software my Intel ProSet Wireless program still says there is no supported wireless adapter on the computer...I also cannot create a connection when I connected the laptop to my hardline DSL cable.
In addition, the video card driver will not install saying that one or more files needed to complete the install were missing and it closes the install wizard. Just in case any of you can answer that as well.
I use my personal laptop at work (an Inspiron E1505). To do so, I had to put it on the network at work. However, when I am home, my laptop runs extremely slow, sometimes taking several minutes just to open a simple program like the calculator. Web surfing is useless even with Road Runner. Any way to make this faster?
I go about removing the computer from the network and would that fix the issue or would I need to wipe the whole thing and start over?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI switched my Dell Latitude D630 on yesterday morning and the WiFi light wasn't lit, and I am unable to connect to any network. I'm completely baffled why this has happened. I was using it the previous night, streaming some music on Spotify, then I turned it off as normal, and when I tried using the internet the next day...nothing. The bluetooth light is lit as normal but the WiFi light stays off, and I've tried turning the external switch on/off to no avail.

Power and ethernet lights show green. I have two phone ports. One is orange colored and shows a "D2" figure next to it. The other one is plain. Tried plugging/unplugging from both. No luck. Called AT&T, I have a technician coming over tomorrow between 4-9pm. Will I be charged? Customer service rep said I probably won't be.Also, my e-mail doesn't show the $24.95 promotional price for 6mbps. It shows that there's a recurring charge for $40.

My sister had a router that had not before been in much use, the WRT54G Linksys router; so to save money we decided to use that. Well, we plugged in the router on October 7th, (friday) and everything was working -- we had Wifi connection; the WLAN light on the Linksys router was lit up. Now, last night, October 8th, right before going to bed I shut down my computer and I unplugged my computer cable. I did not unplugg the router. This morning, as soon as I turned back on my computer, as soon as it was done booting up I noticed the WLAN button on the router was not lit up. I immediately pulled out my ipod and it said that I was not connected to Wifi. All day I have been unplugging the router/modem, replugging them in, only to find that the WLAN button is still not lighting. The other buttons on the router - 'power', 'internet', and '1' (out of 1, 2, 3, 4) are lit. I have only tried rebooting the modem/router/computer once, which was about ten minutes ago and still nothing worked. Is there any way to get my Wifi back? The router is pretty much brand new, having never really been in use to begin with.

We had an older Livebox (Inventel) and after phoning tech support, we were told it was a problem with the router. The problem was with the "@" symbol flashing about once a second. Anyway, they sent over a new router. This was the netgear1000. We set it up and the Internet light stayed red - all the other lights that are meant to be green are green.. We checked the details against what was on the personal detail card they sent over with the router and all of that was correct. It even shows the upload and download speed even though we cannot connect to the internet. When I check the status, it states that the LCP is ready to come up or something along those lines and that the CHAP authentication failed. I phoned them up again and they couldn't solve the problem so it's being moved up to a different department apparently. Anyway, I don't get how it can be an error with the username and password if my old router just stopped working with nothing being changed. The phone line is fine and the tech guy even changed our password.

The only way it turns off is when I unplug my computer from the outlet. Also, my computer doesn't receive any internet when an Ethernet cable is plugged in and the yellow flashing light doesn't show either. View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a fairly new Asus laptop and for some reason we can't get the wireless to turn on any more.It has a Function button method to turn it on and off and any time you use this button it shows the WLAN simple with a red line through it. No matter how many times you press it it does the same thing.I've tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling, ran a security update for the drivers. When I go into the wireless connection and try and turn it on it shows that it has a signal (not sure what to) but a red X next to the connection in windows 7. I can't actually see any wireless signals so I'm kind of at a loss.

About a week after getting these units installed and having them work great, I started running into problems. One of the unit's system light was not on, and I could not connect to the access point from my phone, or log into the web interface. I did a soft reboot (unplug for 30 seconds, plug back in) and it seemed to work fine, but then I had the same problem, and soon both units were doing it. I thought i might be pushing the distance limit the stock injectors have, but then I started having the same problem with a unit that is 10 feet from the injector.
I recently (Jan 2011) bought a new DLink DIR-600 Router for my home use. It was working excellent for last two months and suddenly last Monday all hell broke loose. I have a WiMax connect and have a POE box. I plugged in the cable from POE box into my router and it used to work fine. But now, the globe indicator on the router box is not turning green. It remains yellow. When I remove the POE cable from router and plug it directly to my laptop, it works fine.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a question on Wireless AP's. We have 2 controllers, a 5508 that supports 50 AP's and a 4402 that supports 25 AP's. I have mutable AP"s but the one that I'm having a problem with is an AIR-CAP3502I-A-K9.
On the 4402 I'm running IOS AIR WLC4400-K9-7-0-230-0
On the 5508 I'm running IOS AIR-CT5500-K9-7-2-103-0
My problem is when i move a AP from the 5508 to the 4402 everything seems to work, the new IOS is downloaded to the AP and it restarts and shows up in the Wireless tab and users can hook up through it to the controller and all seems to work. The problem is that the LED light on the AO goes out once the load is finished and does not come back on. If I put it back toe the 5508, after it reloads the IOS the light comes back on and works, green or blue as the case may be. If i move it back to the 4402 it doesn't work after the load is finished.

Once booting is completed, I get the message "Network cable is unplugged".
