View 1 RepliesBy default SBS 2011 places a shortcut on the desktop to companyweb and adds shortcut in the start menu under Windows SBS to companyweb as well.
I found the instructions to edit out the xlm file for SBS 2008 to prevent this from happening but that does not work with SBS 2011 as I do not see those settings.
I did also find the login script for SBS 2008 settings to remove those after the fact all of the time and that is easy enough to change to make it work with SBS 2011; but I would much rather just prevent the shortcuts from being placed in the first place.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Comcast Modem, which connects to the internet port of a simple 4 port switch (useless now due to lack of a second ip address as of recent), which goes out to the Internet/WAN port of a Cisco Router, which from one of the ports goes out to the Internet/WAN port of a Linksys Router.
I have a PC connected to each router, and my question is, How do I set up the network so that I am able to host a web/game server on the PC connected to the Linksys that's accessible over the internet?
I have a job with a budget-limited client who has three Cisco RV042 dual-WAN routers. They had hoped to establish rather seamless *inbound* service, which doesn't seem to be the real purpose for these units, they appear to be designed for bandwidth aggregation and/or rather seamless *outbound* service.Since they have three of these routers, and three broadband connections (two different 5 IP blocks at one ISP, one 5 IP block at a second ISP) I am toying with the idea of using one router per broadband, and configuring each router for One-to-One NAT, dispensing with the dual-WAN redundancy feature.Each router will come from a different public subnet, yet have a one-to-one NAT to the *same* internal server, for instance:
Router 1 - 74.92.X.X ---> NAT ---> 192.168.1.100
Router 2 - 67.78.X.X ---> NAT ---> 192.168.1.100
Router 3 - 97.76.X.X ---> NAT ---> 192.168.1.100
The routers will be configured on the same subnet internally. 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2, and 192.168.1.3 respectively. I'll use weighted multiple default gateways on the server's IP configuration, to establish their default and failover gateways.My question is, does configuring multiple routers for one-to-one NAT to the *same* server cause any conflict or failure? You know, of the "sorry bub that private interface is already sucked up by router 1 and I can't do this" nature?
I got an internet from provider (which is LAN cable sticking from the wall) - and it works fine when I connect via LAN cable - when I write the IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and DNS servers on the LAN adapter and create a PPPoE connection with username and password. I want to do the same but wirelessly. I have an ASUS RT-N10 LX wi-fi router - and connected the cable from the provider to the WAN slot on the router. Then I have accessed the router from my laptop [URL] - and configured everything as it was on my laptop.
IP Adddress: 192.168.17.191
Submask: 255.255.252.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.16.1
DNS1: 192.168.1.250
DNS1: 192.168.1.10
Wireless network works fine, the default gateway is pinging - but DNS servers are not accessible. As a result no internet connection available ( Moreover - when I want to ping the DNS (ping 192.168.1.250) - I tries to get a response from other location 192.168.1.3

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo far we add any router in the existing network simply by disabling DHCP server, and adding LAN ip for that. We don't add WAN detail at all in the additional routers. And plug one cable from main network to the LAN port of the additional routers.So we basically use that additional routers only as a access point for WIFI.But what I wonder is if it's possible for me to use the additional routers with the same feature as of the main routers i.e. Enabling DHCP server so that it too can give its own DHCP ip address.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe RV082 is a great unit, however when VPN clients connect the QuickVPN Client has a setting to use the Remote DNS settings of the RV082. The RV082 has no way of linking or using a user-defined DNS. I have an internal DNS Server that I would like the VPN Clients to query on internal name lookups (kindof the point of having client vpn, so they can access internal network shares etc. On the diagnostic page the ping and name resolution can only check external DNS and internal IP's. Wouldn't it make sense to at least make the RV082 aware of internal DNS Servers? Then the Ping and DNS lookup would be able to test both zones? Is this something that can be looked at by Linksys Developers for this product? The WRV210 (a cheaper and lower level model) has this functionality.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up an RV042 as a gateway for our home network. I've cloned the MAC address of the cable modem attached to WAN1, and have set up WAN1 to obtain an IP automatically. The System Summary page shows under WAN Status that WAN1 has been assigned an IP address in the right range for Comcast, the provider. The default gateway address looks good, and the DNS server is, in fact, Comcast's main DNS server for this area.
However, when I go to System Management > Diagnostic, the router is unable to resolve basic domain names (e.g., www.cisco.com) or ping addresses outside the LAN. I can ping the router itself successfully. Attempts to access the web through the router fail on domain name look.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to networking (at least at this level) and need some guidance. First, I have an Actiontec MI424WR (Rev. F) Coax Verizon Fios modem that I use as my home networking wireless router. From a LAN port on that I've connected a cable to the WAN port on my DIR-655 which acts as my gigabit office hard wire/wireless router. I need to keep the home network and the office network separate.All of my computers are Windows, either 7, Vista or XP.Connected to my Dir-655 on the office network are 2 wireless computers, a printer, an IOMEGA 1TB Home Personal Cloud NAS HDD, plus 2 desktop computers.The DIR-655 is set with a static IP address matching the range of the Actiontec. The DIR-655 is set for DHCP for the devices on the network (although 2 of the computers have static IP address).
When the DIR-655 had a Dynamic IP address set by the Actiontec, the IOMEGA NAS HDD kept losing connection with all the devices on the network. Only after I set the DIR-655 to static IP did that stop and everybody started to play nice. I'm not sure why that would make a difference, but it did.But regardless of whether it is set to dynamic or static, no computer on the network or program, even third party programs, can connect to ANY of the time servers out there... and I mean any of them. I've tried at least 20 or more of the standard and not so standard ones. The DIR-655's time is off, and it is set to get time automatically. None of my computers, or my IOMEGA NAS, can access time. The Actiontec, though, seems to be set correctly.Everything connects to the internet just fine. Web, email, auto product upgrades. Fine. So far it's just the time server thing which troubles.I done everything I know how to do to enable Port Forwarding through both routers for NTP > UDP 123 since that is the standard port for the Network Time Protocol, but I could have easily screwed that up.
Web server is behind Cisco RV180 VPN Router. Port 80 is forwarded to web server. all the rest is default. when web application requests user's host address, then it appears as coming from our router's local address (10.0.0.1). what needs to be configured so that RV180 would pass on client's original IP?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have a SRP527W with 1.1.24 firmware.
We have DHCP disabled and have assigned a IP address of 10.65.73.254 on the Interface Setup/Lan/VLAN Settings/data_lan.
When I configure a client to use 10.65.73.254 as its DNS server it cannot resolve hostnames eg [URL]. Obviously I have 10.65.73.254 as the default gateway on the client and it can ping the external host via IP Address so it only appears to be the modems function as a DNS Server that is not working.
From the diagnostics ping I can put in [URL] and it resolved and works, so the modem is correctly getting it's DNS Settings from the ISP
I'm having an issue with the syslog.
My configuration is:
LAN A (RV042)<-> GW to GW tunnel <-> (RV082) LAN B
On LAN A, I got a NAS with a syslog server. On the RV042, I've set the parameters for the syslog server, and it's working fine. On the RV082, I've set the same parameters and noting is happening.
As troubleshooting, I've done the following:
-On the RV082, I can ping the NAS without problems.
-On the RV082, I've set my computer IP adress as syslog server IP and with packet analyser, I not seing any UDP packets.
RV042 router is giving out the outer certificate instead of server certificate. Outlook anywhere is failing and we are receiving certificate errors for any secure site behind this firewall. Our lab recently purchased a RV042G to setup a subnet (I don't know if this is the correct term) within our company's network. Eventually we like to put a dozen computers on this subnet along with a 24TB NAS drive for data storage. We like the computers in the subnet to be able to access the company's numerous servers.
To test the router setup before going all out, I have a WinXP SP3 computer and a MAC OSX 10.6.8 computer hooked up to it. Both computers can access the Internet just fine. The WinXP computer can access company servers thru the RUN command ("\servernameshare"), but the MAC is having issues with the SMB protocol ("smb://servername/share"). The same MAC if plugged directly to the network has no issues connecting to the company server.
Is this not working because the RV042G doesn't support SMB? or did I do something wrong with setting up the router? By the way, firewall is turned off, since the company already has its own firewall.
We use the RV082 at some our sites. One particular site will not connect to the DNS server but all others will. I've checked every setting I can think of with no joy.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect from the outside to a TCP server inside my lan that is listening on Port 25565. I am using a RV110W. I did the DMZ IP for it.
From the Lan I can establish a connection (even with my dynamic dns address). As I try it from the outside the server log tells me that a connection has been establishen but it shows the gateways IP. Afterwards it tells me the connection hase bin lost (Time out).
As I set Port forwarding I even cannot reach the server from the out side and lan.
I even did set up access rule WAN to Lan.
I've purchased a router SRP547W and I would disable DHCP server. On the control panel I can't see anything about disabling this function. I don't need dhcp server on router and I don't need dhcp relay. My firmware version is 1.2.4_003.
