I recently Installed AVG 2011 and AVG PC tune-up 2011. When i just start my computer the internet is working fine, but after a open my game Flyff, The internet is still connected but cannot use it.
View 2 RepliesA Dell Inspiron laptop (2011) with Windows 7, will not connect to the internet. Wireless network shows good connectivity and I tried plugging in my ethernet cable between the router and my Dell and it didn't work. My desktop and other devices (Wii, other laptops, itouch) can connect wirelessly without a problem. I have had this laptop for about a year and it has worked perfectly until today. I was using the internet an hour prior to shutting down the system. When I restarted it an hour later the wireless connection was there, but there was an error saying that I could not connect to the internet. I tried restarting the router and the system and nothing worked. Could this be a hardware problem with the network card? I have been using the network card heavily for internet gaming and noticed that the laptop has been getting very hot.

View 5 Replies View RelatedBy default SBS 2011 places a shortcut on the desktop to companyweb and adds shortcut in the start menu under Windows SBS to companyweb as well.
I found the instructions to edit out the xlm file for SBS 2008 to prevent this from happening but that does not work with SBS 2011 as I do not see those settings.
I did also find the login script for SBS 2008 settings to remove those after the fact all of the time and that is easy enough to change to make it work with SBS 2011; but I would much rather just prevent the shortcuts from being placed in the first place.
I'm considering upgrading my home server to 2012 Essentials from WHS 2011. WHS 2011 has always been strangely finicky and I have a new Win8 laptop, so i would like to take advantage of the new options in Essentials.that said, I was looking to access my data on the WHS 2011 system to back IT up, and all I see are a bunch of 4,194,304kb .dat files. I've been lucky in that I have never had to recover data from the server, so this has been an interesting issue. how does one access the backed up files on a WHS2011 computer, short of doing some kind of restore?

I'm only asking about WIRED issues. When I'm copying files from my computer to server using teracopy I'm only getting about 10-11 Mb. Consistently.
I had made a thread earlier about getting a new synology server but could I have a more fundamental issue? Reason I'm asking, I copied a file from my wireless laptop to my server and it was almost 1/2 the time for the same file from win7 to server. I'd love to get the synology but kinda hard to justify $1000+ when things seem to be stable.
Signal drops constantly and seems to be a problem with the Mac more than the router IMHO but i thought to register the problem here.
I'm not alone as many users on the Apple support forum are experiencing the same drops via airport and with different routers.. Lan line works fine for me with no issues
I will update the firmware and try that as it seems i am running old firmware V2.00.13
I have an RV180W router and I am trying to use the Windows 2011 SBS. It seems like I setup everything properly in order to use the remote access, but when I try to log on from home, I don't have any luck. According to Window's instructions, here's what I have setup on the router side:, I turned on UPnP. (they say to either do port forwarding, or UPnP, but I found on the Windows SBS that I had to do both in order for it to say it was working).

Gigabit Switch
IBM x3100 M4 w/Xeon E3 1230, 16GB ECC DDR3 RAM Running SBS 2011 Standard
Custom PC with Win7 Pro, i7 3770, 12GB DDR3 RAM
What I would like to do is setup sbs 2011 as the domain controller and have the custom pc on that domain.Comcast business cable modem/router is set for defaults, handing out dhcp.
Both Server and custom pc are hooked into the switch which is hooked into the comcast router.SBS 2011 I believe I set it up with the default settings. Updated it so all the patches are on it. It sees the comcast router and connects to the internet no problem.
Custom PC is sees the comcast router no problem and gets its ip address from there like normal.When trying to join the domain on the sbs computer the custom computer cannot find it even though I can ping the server.
I have had a heck of a time getting this server up and running and it looks like I finally have it, except for one thing. Everything works except for the vpn. I do not have the vpn portion on the router configured since the SBS server will be acting as the vpn host, but maybe I need to configure the vpn elements on this router for it to allow vpn connections in?The other thing that is "off" as the title of this post indicates is that the server is not showing up on the router's attached devices under the correct name. It's showing as some generic WIN-****** nameI am doing this project for a non-profit without compensation and the networking part of it has been a nightmare. So any solution that doesn't entail me reconfiguring the server. Everything else appears to be functioning properly, dhcp, dns, ingoing, outgoing mail and the web interface.

I checked for device recognition and the output is DISABLED which apparently means that my network device may be turned off. How can I turn it on. Windows is no longer installed. I can open IE, but it just says "This page cannot be displayed" and on and on.Since I re-installed it I believe their are not many drivers on it, I don't really know, and I think that might be it but I am not sure. View 2 Replies View RelatedI had some issues so installed Avast, ran a scan and everything went wrong from there, suddenly dropped internet, tried system restores which failed and automatically deleted the restore points. One of the main fixes (that i havnt managed to get to work) is ipconfig /release/renew, both come up with "an error occurred while releasing interface loopback pseudo-interface : the system cannot find the file specified file" and "an error occurred while renewing interface local area connection : an address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint"?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor about two months now I have been experiencing a problem with my Internet connection. It started when I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 530s from 64 bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7. After a day, I started getting the "Local Area Connection: A network cable is unplugged or broken internet connection." However, the cable is not unplugged. My other PC and laptop (which is wireless) can connect to the Internet, so I know it's not my ISP or my router. It only happens about every other day. It would work perfectly on day and other day I would go to my internet and I would have no connection. The weird thing is that when I restart my computer, it connects right away. My other two computers that was upgraded also does not have this problem.
First, I thought it may be the cable, so I replaced it with another cable I had. No luck.Then I thought it may be the port on the router, so I plugged it into one of the other ports (including the port that the working PC was plugged into). Next, I checked Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel(R) 8256v-2 10/100 Connection. There is no exclamation point next to it. Plus, under Properties, it indicates that this device is working properly.I shut down all my computers, and unplugged the dsl modem and router. I waited a few minutes and then plugged in the modem, followed by the router. Once both of those were fully booted, I turned my computers back on. Still after a few hours, I lost connection.Following this, I went to Run, typed "cmd" and then "ipconfig." Under Windows IP Configuration, it reads:"Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Media State.........: Media Disconnected."
I installed windows XP and now I connect a cable from the router to the pc and I can't connect to the network.

I have the ethernet cable going into the 4th slot and my xbox going into the 1st. I got it working however...and before i say this let me tell you, before introducing the linksys as the switch everything was working fine, both wireless to my computer and wired into my xbox straight from the Netgear. Ok back to my issue, while watching netflix on my xbox every 10 minutes or so i will get disconnected from the network on both my computer [wireless to netgear] and xbox wired to netgear through linksys. I was wondering if this could maybe be some kind of IP Address issue.

The primary router is a linksys WRT360n and is stationed inside the main home, while the 2nd is a linksys WRT160N located in my office. I've connected them via the lan to lan configuration and have disabled DHCP server on the 2nd. I can access the 2nd router via my primary PC but am unable to access the internet or see the primary from the PC connected to the 2nd router.

My desktop internet was working fine earlier today. I bought a new hard drive and installed it without any trouble. I plugged my machine back in and received a "no internet connection" message. I have tried (what I think is) everything: unplugged my modem and router and plugged it back in as if it was the first time with the 60 second pauses and whatnot; tested the connection with my cable modem service provider; unplugged and checked cable connections; did ipconfig/flushdns ... I'm really not sure where to go from here.My wireless configuration works fine, as I am able to connect both wirelessly and wired to the router on my laptop. I cannot connect via the modem or router to my desktop PC.Windows 7 running 64-bit, Motorola Surfboard modem (brand new), Medialink router (also brand new), custom built machine.
