I recently got a ea4500, wireless working fine, can connect to the usb storage from different devices fine, but when i try and copy a file to the usb storage, it initially looks like its transferring and registers a file in the usb storage folder. but when i access the usb storage from other devices i cannot find or access the files that i transferred?

There are plenty of instructions to configure USB storage but there are no instructions on how to use it, specifically. Ok, so I have my ftp address, user name and password and tried to connect with Filezilla on my local network. Unable to connect. Also, the USB device does not even show up in Network settings. However, I am able to see the device as a media server from Sony Playstation.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a newly formatted (i.e. empty) 2TB WD my book elite which when i connect it to my computers usb port, can transfer a 6gb video file at over 100MB/s according to the win 7 detail box. However, when i connect it to the usb port on the back of the e4200 and try to transfer the same file, it only goes at 8MB/s max ... it appears to be going at usb 1 speed. i've got the latest firmware on both the e4200 and the my book 1111 and everything seems to be working fine for both, except this transfer rate when connected to the e4200.granted, cisco doesn't specifically list this drive as being tested, but the router does recognize it and shows it as usb 2.0, but yet the transfer speed is just too slow.8MB/s is just not workable...i could just connect the drive directly to the computer and share it that way, but connecting it to the e4200 was one of the reasons i bought the e4200.

I am moving abroad for an extended amount of time, though, so I would also like to connect to this USB drive using FTP. Using the new Cisco Connect Cloud interface, I have enabled FTP sharing for the USB storage device with port 21 and using standard UTF-8 encoding. Whenever I try to connect to the FTP server using my router login credentials, I get the following error message:"There was a problem connecting to the server xx.xxx.xxx.xx. This file server will not allow any additional users to log on. Try to connect again later"

Is the USB storage set up.One thing (very important) Linksys has failed to explain how to gain access to the USB storage once connected to the router. Once the USB storage drive it set up. Or at least I think it's set up. Nothing shows up on my network page. So how am I to get access to the drive? Transfer speed for sending or receiving files from a USB external HDD connected to the router is slow? Speed ranging from 2MB - 4MB/s. The HDD is definitely capable of at least 80MB/s if plugged directly into the PC. Is it meant to be this slow or there's a fix somewhere which I'm not aware of? Thought it's suppose to be the top of the line products but seems so inferior if I were to compare with other high end routers in the market which performs better, faster and definitely much cheaper.

I want to access this folder via my Wireless laptop with Windows Media Player but I only get a handful of the 3000+ songs on the disk. A hard wired PC can access the files but not a wireless laptop. I'm not sure where the issue is. If I use the drive via //host/Music the Star ratings are not available but I get all music, if I map a drive then I get star rating but only a handful of songs. I have tried to change permission but I cannot change the file permissions on the Linksys.

However, the latest issue has me stumped, and is unacceptable.Whenever I am transferring files between 2 computers, I get kind of OK speed (5 MB/s). However, while this transfer happens, no other device can connect to the net. Actually, even trying to go to router home page (192.168.1.1) times out.The clients still say they are connected to the router, but I just can't get anywhere.As soon as the file transfer finishes, everything goes back to normal.EA4500 replaced a WRT54G. Never had any problems with that router. It was such a workhorse. Just needed to upgrade to a n-router.I am on the latest non-cloud firmware.I have reduced the MTU size to 1200. Not sure that matters.

However, when I come in through the Internet via an iOS device, I can see folders but when I try to enter the folder, all I get is a message that displays "|Folder|Enter Into Folder|Select|. There is no click-through capability other than "Return to Upper Folder", which takes me back to folders.

I know it has to be somewhere in the configuration, but SDM no longer operates and I'm not entirely familiar with the IOS command set. When I remove the Cisco device and plug my computer directly into my ISP network, I am able to send files via FTP with no problems.
It's been a while since I sent into my router and messed with any of the Storage setting. I recently decided to change things around so I recently went in the router and attempted to access the Storage page but all I get is a blank page with this address http://192.168.1.1/storage/Disk_Management.asp.

This computer (HP dv6000 running Win Vista home prem) however will not connect to the internet. It states that it is connected to the router (computer sees router), using the cloud connect app on my iphone i can see this computer, but will not allow access to the internet (local connection only). It works fine with the wired connection. When attempting to use the cloud connect software, it says it was unable to complete the install. Have attempted trying while connected by wire as well, same result. Have deleted the wireless connection and allowed software to find connection, still same result, cannot install. Wireless worked perfectly with previous router (WRT54G) three days ago.

When they are both connected to the E1000 via cat 5 cable I can share files and directorys with no problems. When I connect the laptop via WiFi I am unable to share files. In fact I cannot ping the laptop from the desktop or the desktop from the laptop. It is like the AP Isolation is on but I have checked that setting and it is off.

Set it up in no time with a Mixed network on WPA2 Personal, Internet's fine, but I can't see any of my wired clients. They don't ping at all. Even stranger, if I plug into another wired switch port with my laptop, I STILL can't ping the other clients. One is a NAS and one is a network printer so there are no firewalls involved. I power cycled the printer but in vain. I've already reset to factory defaults once, but that didn't work. I'm thinking I'll need to return it.

I tried re-flashing the firmware, but that didn't work. I get the same problems when I try using the Smart Wifi app. There are also times when I can not access the router using Smart Wifi unless I reboot the router when I get home.

I can access the cameras from my local LAN both when using the local 10. ..and external 99 .. Addresses. When I go off the local connection - Access does not work. Slingbox did its auto configuration and I can access it. I just cant get to camera devices (Panosonic, Foscam, etc.).

But, no matter how many times I try, I cannot enter its IP address in the address bar and see its settings. I change its IP to192 168 1 200. Subset 255... DG 192 168 1 1 DNS same.Under router address 192 168 0 1I CANNOT access this router at 192 168 0 1 at all. The thing is, the **bleep** settings are not any different the. How they were when it was WORKING. I literally took a screenshot of my setting in case a scenario like this would come up, yet it more problems arise. View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought a seagate USB hard drive today from Target. Its a 2TB and I was going to use it via USB attached to my router. I connected it and the Linksys firmware detected it and I was able to create the appropriate folders on the drive for storage through the linksys GUI.My issue is that I am now trying to move my movies and tv shows over to the drive and it isn't allowing me to do that.
I get an error message that says "You don't have access to //myshare. contact your administrator".
I'm not sure why I was able to create folders on this drive but am unable to move files to it. Makes no sense to me. Write permission is write permission no?My machine which currently stores the media files is windows7 utimate. The router is E3000 using up to date stock firmware.
My EA4500 router seems to drop mine and my wife's iPhone wifi connection at what appears to be the edge of my router's range. When we come back in range, our iPhone's intermittently give the error "Unable to join network.". And we're stuck in that mode. When I check the Devices menu in the CCC interface, I notice the iPhone device is configured and still online. However the "x" box to delete the device is greyed out because it's online. View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new router for my home network. It is the Cisco linksys EA4500. It looks great and is rich with features but I just wish I didn't buy it!
My old wireless router started to have its wireless signal very weak, hence this new linksys router. When it is time to setup the router, I just did what was supposed to be done(which is very straight forward, just a matter of choosing pppoe and inputting a username and password) and went ahead to test the internet connection which didn't work! Upon inspection, I discovered that the lights on the internet port on the router(WAN port) didn't turn on at all as if the cable wasn't connected. I quickly checked all connections and to kill any doubt I reconnected the cable to the old router to make sure it is working and it worked. So there is nothing wrong with the cable!
I tried everything one can think of to no avail. The only conclusion one would draw from this whole scenario is that the new router is bad. So, I took it back to the shop I bought it from and before giving me another one, he said he will test it out and I said okay. Surprisingly enough, it just worked !!! Don't ask me why but it just did work beautifully, although at my house if you plug the cat6 cable(that you know for sure has internet) into its internet port, it won't even turn its lights on.
I have a laCie hard drive which we use to store all our files. There are 2 of us in the office and we would both like to be able to access the storage at the same time. Currently our laCie can only be seen on our desktop's if only one computer is connected (using either firewall and/or USB connectors).
Lastly, we also back up our files using dropbox, however when you drag and drop the files into dropbox from the desktop, the copying of the files uses the hard drive (HD) memory thereby reducing available HD space. Any way to upload folders (not individual files) onto dropbox without using any HD space?
I'm trying to transfer my old files (pics, documents, music) from my 6 year old Macbook Pro to my new Windows 7 desktop that I built about a month ago. I'm having a really hard time getting the files to transfer over. I've tried extensively to network them through my home wireless to no avail. I tried setting up a workgroup and having my mac manually join to no avail. I know there should be a way to transfer these files quickly over my home network.
The real problem I am having is that my mac isn't showing up as a computer on my network on the PC. I can get the pc to show up as a computer on the mac, but it doesn't show my user profile and all the folders are empty. I've gone into the share settings on both machines and made everything as open and shared as possible, still not showing up. Any foolproof way to quickly transfer files between these machines?
