Firmware version is V1.0.01 b001 my WRT54GH has recently started to shuts off periodicaly without any reason. Will stay off for couple of minutes, then will turn ON again. In this period, On/OFF button has no effect.
View 4 RepliesI don't know how to access the router now to reset my system. My wired computer works fine. I have used this router without issue for several years. I used windows Xp and now I installed windows 7. After that i cannot connect to the router. I tried with 192.168.1.1 in my browser and with the setup CD. I just cant enter to setup the router. On the other computer the internet is functioning perfectly. I use the same cable, so the problem is not in the cables.

Tried both on IE, Firefox, Chrome Tried to disable antivirus, no effect, the pages still load not all the time, firmware upgraded to the latest version. Before didi not have such problem with Zyxel W330EE.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've updated latest firmware & installed 5 pieces of WRT54GH at our building. Then I noticed each of them disappear from wireless connections list and IP scan list (no ping response). If they might not response to pings but they serve as switch without any problem, I mean there are no wired connection problems, they work as switch all the time. The problems are -again-
1-) Wireless lost and / or 2-) Ping response lost
Turning them off and on again will fix them. But I'm tired of bosses who complain about their faulty pc connectivity.
Don't they run 7/24? I tried to restart them on every 12 hours programmatically/remotely but it couldn't work.
Ive been using this router for about 4 months now. suddenly it wont let me connect wirelessly through itouch nor through imac. it says Unable to join the network "linksys" eventhough "linksys" is indicated to be an available WIFI network and that signal is full. Problem is still the same even after i reset the router a couple of times pass 30seconds, set the security to No Password.if i connect the router with a cable it connects seamlessly and allows me to go online.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a linksys WRT54GH wireless router running firmware v1.0.01 build 001.It's setup with DHCP.My desktop computer is connected to the router via cable.I also access the connection using my laptop, via wireless.The problem is that after I start using the desktop (wired connection), I can't connect from the laptop using wireless. It happens every time. I then turn the router off and back on again. After this procedure I can successfully connect from both the desktop (wired) and laptop (wireless).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI purchased WRT54GH wireless router back in 2009 and it was working fine except for past 1 month, wherein the Internet Connection was being disrupted 15 - 20 times in an hour. I thought it could be fault from ISP end; however after investigation by ISP we found the fault was not from ISP as, when Wireless was unable to establish connection with the DSL Modem it was failing but when tried to connect laptop with the DSL Modem it worked fine (Wired connection). I did try the Settings mentioned in an earlier post to change the UPnP and the Beacon Interval etc. This however doesnot seem to work as the internet has been disconnected almost thrice since then. (Approx. 15 - 20 mins). When the router is unable to connect to internet I restart the Wireless Router and the DSL Modem. After restarting, the Internet connectivity works fine.
Below are the Advanced Wireless Settings from Wireless Tab:

I just bought WRT54GH router. I have one PC (running Ubuntu) connected via Wireless.Every 5-10 minutes I get disconnected for a short period of time (about 10-30 seconds). During that period I am able to access router configuration page, but can't connect to the "outer" world... Surely it's not about my Internet provider, since connecting the PC directly to the Internet cable works fine with no "disconnections".

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT54gh, and the signal strength is extremely poor. Full strength at about 15 centimeters, Then drops to 50% at 50 centimeters. By 1.5 meters, the signal is extremely weak or not visible. Have updated to the latest firmware, factory reset and power cycled. There are no other wireless networks or devices that would provide interference Have experimented with channels, thresholds, transmit type, encrypted/open, intervals etc..No luck. Due to signal dropping off so quickly it seems like a transmit strength issue rather than an issue that can be solved in the menu. I'm wondering if there's a way I can console log-in to the Linux kernel and check the transmit strength and perhaps bump it up by a few DB? It's out of warranty so a solution involving opening the case is also acceptable.
View 9 Replies View Relatedmy E1000 router locks up and I lose Internet connectivity until I unplug the router's power cord, wait for 10 seconds or so, then plug it back in and let it restart. This seems to be triggered (a.) when I land on a web page with intensive graphics, etc., that takes a while to load, or (b.) if I launch a web page really quickly while another one already is up. it doesn't just happen spontaneously when I'm working on the computer. This computer I'm working on is old and slow, which is why as per my earlier inquiry about having to reconfigure the router and network , I'm looking at changing to an up to date and faster model. I just updated to the latest firmware, probably a week or so ago, but the router was doing this before then and still is doing it now.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI purchased an E4200 from a retail store about ten days ago.It completely quits periodically. Even the managment interface is gone. It seems to just die. The only fix is to unplug it, count to ten and plug it back in.router also gets extremely hot. I have tried locating it in several places, no matter where I put it, it still gets very hot. Right now I have it straddling a trash can so that it has about two feet of air space under it. It is still uncomfortable to the touch.
When I contacted technical support all they would do is walk me through setting it up from scratch again. I've done that many times, and I do not want to do it agian. Setting the router up agian will not make it cool down.
1. Exchange this for another one, probably from the same batch, at the store?
2. Fight with Linksys tech support to get a waranty return? (Any input on how to get them to do this?)
3. Return this router altogether (paying the retailer's 15% restocking fee) and look for another brand?

After a period of time the entire house goes off line. I have to reboot the power on e2000 router and then disable the access restrictions. System then works. Problem is repeatable. What is the deal. I have updated firmware already. Otherwise the system works great. Never dies. Just when i set access restricions for a SPECIFIC time it kills entiore houese. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit with the very latest AE1000 driver (3.0.10.0). I have a Netgear WNDR3700 with dual band support. I replaced a D-Link DWA-556 PCIe 2.4 GHz card with this USB unit because I was seeing interference with my keyboard and mouse (Logitech Bluetooth). When the AE1000 works, I can consistently connect at 300 Mbps and the speed is great.Unfortunately, every so often, the connection to the internet drops and Windows 7 must do a wireless adapter reset in order to regain access to my network. During this time no other machines connected on the wireless network report any disruption and neither the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi profiles are connectable with the AE1000.I've tried switching from the built-in USB 2.0 ports on my motherboard to the USB 3.0 daughtercard to no avail. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. However, I started seeing this issue literally the day I installed this thing. The problem happens sometimes a few instances in an hour but then won't happen again for another few hours.In Event Viewer, I'm pretty consistently seeing:The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service was successfully sent a stop control. The reason specified was: 0x40030011 [Operating System: Network Connectivity (Planned)]
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have to reset my wireless router multiple times per day. Seems to just be our two laptops that fail to connect periodically, not other devices (iPods/cell phones/Wii). Both laptops have Windows 7. Router was replaced 2 years ago (went from Belkin to D-Link DIR-655) and the D-Link started acting like this a few months ago and is getting worse. I updated firmware on router last week in hopes it would fix it.

I'm currently using a MI424WR Rev F router, with a Motorola SURFboard SB5120 cable modem.If I connect directly with the cable modem to the PC, the internet works perfectly fine. But the issue is I have 3 connections, (2 wireless, 1 wired)Okay when I connect my modem to the router (Ethernet into WAN, blah blah) the modem suddenly loses signals. I've noticed this on the modem's status page. (192.168.100.1)The downstream power level would constantly change, and the modem will lose the Known CPE MAC Address. (When connected to the router)In order to fix the problem, I would need to connect directly to the modem and reset to the factory settings and wait out the 30 minutes.

I use my router for several other wireless devices so this is bad. I use a Motorola modem that fits to a D-Link router. The modem appears to stay on when I'm having trouble. the route5r is a "DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router"

I unplugged all ethernet connections, shut down, etc. and slowly added the PC, then the phone, until when I plugged in the Western Digital 2TB My Book live, it would begin the same restart process. I can now repeat the issue by unplugging, and replugging the drive. I have had the network drive for about 3 months, and this started today.

My home wifi connection runs off of comcast on a netgear router, and the wireless connection works on every single device in the house except for my laptop. I can run my ps3, my wii, we have an ipad, all our phones can connect and we have another laptop that connects with no issue. I have updated my drivers for my wireless card to the latest, flushed the ip on my desktop that the modem is connect to a dozen times. The only way to sometimes fix it is to manually log in to my router and release/renew the ip address from there. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't. When it does work, it will work for about a week and then stop working for no reason at random times.The errors I keep getting are:Identifying network (which runs infinitely before cycling back to no internet connection)Connected with no internet access.
