Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GH-SG Not Allowing To Logon
Nov 16, 2010
I'm not able to logon to WRT54GH-SG over 192.168.1.1. I'm using correct password & have NOT forgotten. I'm hitting 401 page. The support rep told me reset the router which I do not want to before I explore any possibilities.
I don't know how to access the router now to reset my system. My wired computer works fine. I have used this router without issue for several years. I used windows Xp and now I installed windows 7. After that i cannot connect to the router. I tried with 192.168.1.1 in my browser and with the setup CD. I just cant enter to setup the router. On the other computer the internet is functioning perfectly. I use the same cable, so the problem is not in the cables.
Firmware version is V1.0.01 b001 my WRT54GH has recently started to shuts off periodicaly without any reason. Will stay off for couple of minutes, then will turn ON again. In this period, On/OFF button has no effect.
I need to set the local IP for my new wrt54gh wireless router to 172.28.2.x & netmask to 255.255.0.0 but there is no option to set the netmask to 255.255.0.0 in the drop down menu / list .
have problem with WRT54GH, almost every second page after reload gets an error message: Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset. Tried both on IE, Firefox, Chrome Tried to disable antivirus, no effect, the pages still load not all the time, firmware upgraded to the latest version. Before didi not have such problem with Zyxel W330EE.
I've updated latest firmware & installed 5 pieces of WRT54GH at our building. Then I noticed each of them disappear from wireless connections list and IP scan list (no ping response). If they might not response to pings but they serve as switch without any problem, I mean there are no wired connection problems, they work as switch all the time. The problems are -again-
1-) Wireless lost and / or 2-) Ping response lost
Turning them off and on again will fix them. But I'm tired of bosses who complain about their faulty pc connectivity.
Don't they run 7/24? I tried to restart them on every 12 hours programmatically/remotely but it couldn't work.
Ive been using this router for about 4 months now. suddenly it wont let me connect wirelessly through itouch nor through imac. it says Unable to join the network "linksys" eventhough "linksys" is indicated to be an available WIFI network and that signal is full. Problem is still the same even after i reset the router a couple of times pass 30seconds, set the security to No Password.if i connect the router with a cable it connects seamlessly and allows me to go online.
I have a linksys WRT54GH wireless router running firmware v1.0.01 build 001.It's setup with DHCP.My desktop computer is connected to the router via cable.I also access the connection using my laptop, via wireless. The problem is that after I start using the desktop (wired connection), I can't connect from the laptop using wireless. It happens every time. I then turn the router off and back on again. After this procedure I can successfully connect from both the desktop (wired) and laptop (wireless).
I purchased WRT54GH wireless router back in 2009 and it was working fine except for past 1 month, wherein the Internet Connection was being disrupted 15 - 20 times in an hour. I thought it could be fault from ISP end; however after investigation by ISP we found the fault was not from ISP as, when Wireless was unable to establish connection with the DSL Modem it was failing but when tried to connect laptop with the DSL Modem it worked fine (Wired connection). I did try the Settings mentioned in an earlier post to change the UPnP and the Beacon Interval etc. This however doesnot seem to work as the internet has been disconnected almost thrice since then. (Approx. 15 - 20 mins). When the router is unable to connect to internet I restart the Wireless Router and the DSL Modem. After restarting, the Internet connectivity works fine.
Below are the Advanced Wireless Settings from Wireless Tab:
I just bought WRT54GH router. I have one PC (running Ubuntu) connected via Wireless.Every 5-10 minutes I get disconnected for a short period of time (about 10-30 seconds). During that period I am able to access router configuration page, but can't connect to the "outer" world... Surely it's not about my Internet provider, since connecting the PC directly to the Internet cable works fine with no "disconnections".
I was using a wrt54gh which is no longer in working condition.. so i bought an E1200.the problem i face is when i try to restore my new router which is the E1200 frm the backup file frm my previous router the wrt54gh which is saved in my computer i get the error message " THE IMAGE FILE IS INCORRECT ".
Anyone has a register of problems between a router WRT54GH and A495 telefone of Siemens?I mean they can be working in the same frequency, that´s why in some rooms I can connect my wireless network very well.
i am a using a WRT54GH linksys router.. which was working fine for a year.. there was thunderstorm and lightning a few days back.. since then my routers internet port (the first port which says internet in yellow) has stopped working..
I just installed WRT54GH and wireless was working fine, after almost 3 hours passed I lost connection with it.I tried to connect using wireless with 3 different notebooks without success. Just using cable it works.I upgraded firmware from v1.0.010 to v1.0.01 but still not working.
I have a WRT54gh, and the signal strength is extremely poor. Full strength at about 15 centimeters, Then drops to 50% at 50 centimeters. By 1.5 meters, the signal is extremely weak or not visible. Have updated to the latest firmware, factory reset and power cycled. There are no other wireless networks or devices that would provide interference Have experimented with channels, thresholds, transmit type, encrypted/open, intervals etc..No luck. Due to signal dropping off so quickly it seems like a transmit strength issue rather than an issue that can be solved in the menu. I'm wondering if there's a way I can console log-in to the Linux kernel and check the transmit strength and perhaps bump it up by a few DB? It's out of warranty so a solution involving opening the case is also acceptable.
I'm having getting my E1200 to work is this; I'm connected wirelessly with an N-adapter to the router, my roomate is connected directly with an Ethernet cable and to the modem. Whenever he logs ons or logs off from internet I GET DISCONNECTED! Its very frustrating. At first I kept wondering why I would get frequent Disconnects, until I matched exactly the times he would log on or log off. I've never seen this type of problem before in my previous router?
I updated to Firmware Version: 1.0.04. And now I can't logon to the router when my storage device is turned on. However, I can logon to the router when the device is off. If I turn the power on the storage device and try to navigate the router it says ".....Can't establish a connection to the server at 192.168.1.1." Then I have to reboot the router to be able to log back on.
Logon failure: The user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer" Im having this same problem on two computers. One running windows vista ultimate 64bit and windows 7 home premium 32 bit to windows server 2008 r2 64 bit?
I just set up my e2000 on a PC using Windows 7. I am additionally trying to set up additional devices on the network. The two that I am currently working with are:Dell Latitude d240 running Windows XP.HTC Evo smartphone running Android
I can't get these on the network through the e2000. They can access the internet through the e2000 but only as a guest and therefore don't have the same level of security. What do I need to do to successfully put the above devices on the network?
I have a 100mb conection and regularly get 90mb plus speed when conected direct to the modem. If I conect via the E4200 I only get 50mb ? I have tried disabling the firewall and QOS but this has had no effect. I am using a wired conection and the latest firmware. Its almost as the E4200 is capped at 50mb throughput.
Similar to this issue with the EA4500 - I have the same issue with maping the drives from both PC and Mac - the USB drive is recognized, admin/user names are coreated appropriately, the folder structure is imported into the admin control..similar issue with EA4500 user here
Recently purchased an EA4500 router and it is connected to the Internet. One of the reasons we purchased this router was to take advantage of the usb port (only 2.0 unfortunately) to be able to share media across the network. I spent over two hours on the phone (4/16/2012) with Linksys Tech support trying to get this feature to work. When using a little flashdrive I can easily find the connected usb device. However, when trying to connect to an external hard drive, it will not connect. I tried three different external hard drives, a Western Digital 500 GB Elements drive, a Western Digital 2 TB My Book Elements drive and even a portable 1.5 TB Seagate FreeAgent drive. Every drive had the same result. In fact after plugging each one into the EA4500 and then selecting Safely Eject and then plugging them into my computer, each one had to go through the Fix process in order to work again. I tried this several times. Linksys Tech Support could not get it to work either, and they even used remote access. When going into the web interface of the EA4500, the router sees the external drives attached to it. However, only the little 16GB flash drive can be seen by the computer. I know there is a list for approved devices that work with a different device, the E4200 [URL]
It looks like my devices are there but nonetheless its not working. Really not sure why the router can see all of the devices but only the computer can see the flash drive.
I am trying to allow PPTP traffic through my Linksys WRT320n to a PPTP VPN server on my home network. The Linksys WRT320n is running firmware 1.0.05 build 002Mar 31, 2011.I have created a Port Forwarding rule on the Linksys to allow TCP & UDP port 1723 through to my internal IP of the PPTP VPN server, but everytime I try to connect with a PPTP client from outside of my network I get a connection error on the client.Checking the PPTP VPN servers logs I see the following errors (Please note all IP's have been masked) Mar 2 11:15:07 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: CTRL: Client x.x.x.x control connection startedMar 2 11:15:07 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: CTRL: Starting call (launching pppd, opening GRE)Mar 2 11:15:07 ap-01 pppd[5301]: pppd 2.4.4 started by root, uid 0Mar 2 11:15:37 ap-01 pppd[5301]: Exit.Mar 2 11:15:37 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: GRE: read(fd=8,buffer=41fe30,len=8196) from PTY failed: status = -1 error = Input/output error, usually caused by unexpected termination of pppd, check option syntax and pppd logsMar 2 11:15:37 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: CTRL: PTY read or GRE write failed (pty,gre)=(8,9)Mar 2 11:15:37 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: CTRL: Reaping child PPP[5301]Mar 2 11:15:37 ap-01 pptpd[5300]: CTRL: Client x.x.x.x control connection finished
From looking at the above errors, it seems as if the Linksys isn't forwarding GRE through to my PPTP server.I have tried various settings, including enabling and disabling the PPTP Passthrough option on the Linksysbut still can't get PPTP to work. What is the correct way to get GRE traffic forwarded through the Linksys?
I posted my complaint on Amazon.com recently. My E4200 router stopped allowing traffic through ports completely. I was able to unplug the power and allow the router to cool, and the router would work for a while then stop after about 10 minutes. I assume that the unit was overheating, but I do not have the equipment of a test facility.I bought a Belkin AC 1200 router which is a bit of an upgrade from Amazon.com. I do not think that there is anything that Linksys can do for me as my warranty expired. I just thought that when I spent what was to me a lot of money the router should have lasted longer.
EA4500 Linksys router stopped allowing vizio Internet apps to connect from two different TV's. Problem, Just got brand new EA4500 router and Motorola SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 High-Speed Cable Modem Model: 575319-019. I have 2 new vizio big screen tv's with internet apps. All was working fine and had no problems but occasional drops or limited access.
One day BOTH TV's could no longer connect. However, The tv's will connect to another access point. therefore the problem does not exist in the TV/s and has to be a problem in my access point (I.E. Router allowing access). Additionally, all other devices connect and work fine. I have already unplugged everything for an extended period of time. Checked for updates on firmware and verified no software needed to be updated. Rebooted router... Am using wpa-psk and feel i shouldn't have to go weep as it was working fine...
I have a Linksys router (model BEFSR41) and I all the outputs going to two computers and two gaming systems (X360 and PS3). I have had the router for over a year and it works fine, but I recently decided to attempt to have my 360 access the media on my computer by linking the two together through the Media Center. To do this, I needed to enable my router to allow UPnP (according to Microsoft help). When I did enable this, the router would disconnect me every 2-5 seconds from the internet, then would reconnect me right away.I have no clue why it was doing this (it occured across all of my devices) so I just disabled UPnP and things went back to normal. How to fix this so that I can have a consistent and stable connection when I have UPnP enabled?
My Netgear wireless router had been working just fine and then inexplicably stopped allowing wireless internet access. My modem is fine. I contacted my internet service provider, and no luck. I unplugged the router's power source and plugged it back it in. Still not working. I switched the power on and off. Nothing. I do not know what to try next.
