Netgear N300 (DGN2200) Connection - Internet Port Had No Ip Address?
Dec 16, 2011I recently purchased the netgear n300 ADSL2+ modem router. I have tried all day to get it to work, but I have not have any success.
ISP: Verizon (Now frontier I think)
DSL light will be solid green, along with the port, wifi, etc... But the internet one stays solid red.I've tried changing dns settings and things, but to no avail. Though I am able to login to the router, and I can get internet if I directly connect to the modem.

I noticed in the router settings that the internet port had no ip address, as in it was just 0.0.0.0.

Nothing changed.Reset the adapter. Nothing changed.Enabled My Wifi/checked for Intel Wireless PAN DSCP server/checked firewall. Nothing happened.I looked up other people having the same issue and there seems to be a lot and they all agree that there is no cure in sight. Apparently, BestBuy even had the balls to tell some of them to restore the computers to its original factory setting to resolve the issue which is pathetic.

DG834PN - IP Address Conflict With Netgear Router?
Feb 4, 2011I have a Netgear DG834PN Router. Connected to it usually are 2-3 laptops (XP, Vista, 7) wirelessly, a Xbox 360 and Win 7 PC via cables, a wireless printer and often an iPod touch, however PS3s, mobile phones etc are connected occasionally.
It had been functionally normally.until we changed ISP after ours was taken over (we didn't change but the provider obviously now has). However, since then (1st Feb) we've been having connection issues, probably an IP address conflict where items can access the router but not the internet.
The iPod and Xbox sometimes don't connect, as do the laptops often after been powered up from a sleep. Yesterday, when powering up one of the laptops, I got an IP address conflict message. Restarting the router sometimes works, but mostly it allows one device on and not another.
The printer has a static IP address (192.168.0.4) that I had to set up to get it working, but this has been active for months now without issue. I've had a look in the router settings and it's set up for DHCP as default with IP addresses from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254 so I don't understand why it has this issue suddenly. I had a look at the connected devices list, and everything appeared to have its own IP address.

May 5, 2011I have a Netgear FSM750S 48 port managed switch that I inhereted from the previous LAN guy who was gone before I got here. I don't know what IP address he was using for the swithc - I have a decent guess for the username/password; but I'm not 100% sure on those either. how can I determine what this devices IP address is so I can telent into it? Do I have to reset the switch to factory config? And if I have to reset it, how do I do that? There aren't any factory reset buttons anywhere on the chasis. [URL]

Dec 19, 2011basically we got sent this new router from Orange (our ISP) and we have had problems with it for the last week. The router model is the Netgear N150 DGN1000. Sometimes I connect it will be absolutely fine, but then the next time I log onto my laptop it can't identify the network, it says connected but doesn't have the globe in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. Then we have to reset the router a few times everytime until it recognises it, even though the settings are saved when we connected last time. It is the same with my sisters laptop. We both have Atheros network adapters so that may be a compatability issue with the router, but my brother connects fine on his everytime. A similar problem occurs with modern warfare 3 on my ps3, it won't let me sign in to playstation network half the time and keeps saying NAT type failed, even though NAT is enabled on my router. get this problem sorted and to get a consistent network connection that connects every time that would be great. We changed the security type to WEP on it a few days ago from WPA and that meant we could sign into modern warfare 3 some of the time rather than never, but we are still having issues.

I have done this before on my old Linksys router with no problems but the Netgear has me stumped.The only way I can reach any of these devices from the Internet is to map them to port 80. I have done this many times on other routers and it should have been simple but could not connect. Had him enable ping response so I could ping his router to verify the connection and ping was good. On my router, I like to port-forward SSH to my Linux computer server at home but since at work IT blocks out-bound SSH, I have to masquerade the SSH port-forward on my server to get past the corporate proxy. Normally, I've done this in the past by doing something like WAN:9090 (allowed by my IT) --> LAN:22 in my router's port forwards to get SSH routed to my Linux box from the web.
I recently purchased a Netgear FVG318 and it doesn't look like it supports this kind of configuration. In the Security->Firewall Rules->Inbound Rules section of the router configuration I see how to do a port-forward but they only have a drop-down selection of common protocols and will simply 1:1 forward the ports. It doesn't look like it allows to do mis-matched ports on the forward like I'd like to do.

Placement of the router is in my basement (has to be as this is where all my network/modem/server rack). I plan to also purchase an AP and place it on the 2nd floor of my home (2200sq ft) for coverage in the house.
Question is, once I add the VPN to get US content, there will be times when I want my own PC to NOT be on the US VPN.So, based on the above which dual band router under $130 and how much for the AP? And how do I setup it up so that my personal PC and be on and off the VPN?
Right now I can get a E4200v2 refurb for 60 bucks from NC$X? I was looking at Asus N66, but perhaps its too much for my needs?

What I have the problem with is devices connected on any one of my 3 300Mbps access points drop out showing no internet but they really mean no network access unless i disconnect and reconnect or switch to another access point. Other things I get happening is one min i have a transfer speed wired connection to wired connection of 35Mb per second and then I only have 8 or less. I am wondering if I have cable issues but before I went out and spent about �100 on new belkin cat6 cable I would ask if there is software I can use to test all the devices on the network so I can replace the faulty item.

It just says service name, service type, starting port, ending port.

Dec 16, 2012we have 100 Cisco 881 routers in our network and they all work fine to Linksys, 3Com, etc switches. The problem we have encountered is interfacing to Netgear switches. Netgear switches use autosensing on their ports and it does not seem to be compatible with MDIX autosensing on the Cisco 881 4 port LAN hub that is standard on the 881 router. Would a cross over cable resolve the problem? Since both run autosensing MDIX they never synch - so likely a cross over would not do much. I see this with all types of Netgear smartswitches. If you put a small switch between the Netgear switch and the 881 Cisco router everything works fine except for getting port 9000 traffic through.

I could try and connect only my laptop, the switch and an old router I have in a network and letting the DHCP server in the old router give my switch the correct IP.

Jul 9, 2013I have been having problems with my router. I have a Net gear N300 v2, but I am not asking for support with said router. Forwarding network traffic from the Internet to a server and then have it properly re-routed. I have never done this sorta thing before, but I want to go into a career in I.T. when I'm older. As a side note, I have already figured out that ditching the router requires to have a software DHCP server, which I am using Windows Server 2008 Data center and it's built in role as DHCP server.
DNS is also configured. The modem a Motorola Surf Board is connected directly to a Cisco Catalyst 2950, and that connects all of the rest of the network, also via a 3Com SUper Stack Hub, and a little 8-port HP Advance Stack J2610A, which connects to all of my wireless AP.
