View 3 RepliesI purchased the Dir-655 yesterday. My home network was all gigabit except for my router which was working fine, but I wanted the whole network within my house to be at gigabit speed. I move a lot of big files around to my network storage device and wanted to speed that process up, which it has. After streaming a movie through the router out a hard wired port to my PC when I finished that movie I noticed that no other path through the router would work including Wi-FI, till I rebooted then they all worked again.
Last night watched a movie through the Wi-fi channel to my media PC in the basement and when the movie finished, no other port on the router worked until a reboot. In each case the channel/path in use continued to work although other paths were not working. It seems like a firmware/ buffer management issue.I made a couple changes. Enabled the Multicast option and turned of QOS.Failed again but not under the same conditions as before so I just turned off the Defragmentation option, I forget exactly how it was labeled.
I have a local DSL line in our remote office. We are connecting a microwave antennae that carries our main office internet to the remote office.I want to be able to connect both paths to a Layer 3 switch and route traffic through the main office with the router connected to the DSL as a fail-over solution.I would really like to stick with HP Procurve's if possible.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have a 3750 at the center of one of our offices. This office has two internet connections, and applications that we want to use the seperate Internet connections, but not both. Currently we have an ip route statement on the 3750 sending Internet traffic to one of the Internet routers. Whats the easiest way to send speciffic applications to the other using the 3750?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI look after 5 sites in total. All sites are connected together via MPLS. Two of the sites, HQ1 and HQ2 are also connected together via 1Gb Metro so traffic is just switched between the 2 networks.EIGRP is fed into BGP to pass the routes between the sites with all sites in the same EIGRP AS.
All sites are configured with the same AS number (55555) and connect into the same service provider network so each site is connecting to a neighbor in the same AS (444).
I want all incoming traffic from the 3 sites to come in through HQ1 always. Can I influence the service provider's network to make sure this happens? Is this done via "set local-preference 20" on my side or do I have to get the service provider to make changes on their side too.
I've recently switched to an ASA 5510 on 8.4(3) coming from a Checkpoint NGX platform (let's say fairly quickly and without much warning ). I have a couple questions and they're kind of similar so I'll post them up. I've read docs about regex and creating them both via command line and ASDM, but the examples always seem to include info I don't need or honestly something I don't understand yet (mainly related to defining classinspect maps). If someone could provide a simple example of how to do these in ASDM that would be useful in understanding how regular expressions are properly configured. So here we go.
I know this is basic but I need to make sure I understand this properly - I have a single web server (so this won't be a global policy) where I need to allow access to a specific URL pathfile and that's it. So we'll call it est estfile.doc. Any other access to any other path should be dropped. What's the best way to do this in ASDM (6.4)? I think if I saw a basic example for this I could figure out next few questions but I'll post them as well just in case.
I have another single public web server (again this won't be a global policy) where I'd like to specify blocking file types, like .php, .exe., etc... again a basic example would be great.
Lastly, and this is kind of related, but we have a single office/domain and sometimes we get spam from forged addresses appearing to be from our domain. On Checkpoint I used to use its built-in SMTP security server and could define if it received mail from *@mydomain.com to drop it because we would never receive mail externally from our own domain name. I saw something similar with ESMTP in ASDM and it looks kind of like how you set up the URL access mentioned above. Can I configure this in ASDM as well, and if so how?
I have two offices in rural area with a quite distance between them. Offices are connected with private wireless 100Mbps and cooper 100Mbps links provided by different ISP. Wireless connections are delivered as a private L3 Ethernet link but cooper as private L2 Ethernet trunk link. In both offices I have Cisco 3750 L3 switches. I would like to use both link (equal-cost paths) in load balanced configuration but not sure how. Both switches running EIGRP. Asymmetric routing is not an option. Per-destination load-balancing or something else?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a query on how the 6500s running in VSS mode would route the traffic over an OSPF environment where it has leant about two equal cost paths, but one via the 2nd chassis.Proposed setup - 2 6509s running in VSS. Switch-1 in VSS has a layer 3 connection (via a LES circuit) to one of a pair of Nexus 7Ks at another office. Switch-2 in the VSS has another layer 3 connection (via LES by another provider) to the other N7K at the other office. The L3 connections would use /30 ranges and allow each Nexus to form an ospf neighbour relationship with the VSS. We want to keep both offices environments separate so although we do have L2 circuits we're using these to provide L3 connectivity between sites & exchange routing info via them using ospf.
Each Nexus will advertise all the directly connected networks it knows about to the 6509s running in VSS. Thus I couldn't figure out if for example we have users/servers behind our VSS 6509s, these would need to go via their default gateway to get to a network located off the LAN, the default gw ip in VSS setup exisits on the control plane on switch-1 (in normal operation). Then to get to a network that is located off the Nexuses at the other site it would have 2 equal cost paths to it, however one of these paths would be via the VSL link and off the switch-2 chassis. I wasn't therefore sure if we'd actually ever see any transmit traffic via the 2nd L3 connection because I have a funny feeling that I've read the VSS always choses the local chassis egress rather than going via the VSL to use another port...
All of the above is theorectical at the moment as currently both circuits are connected to a single Nexus/6509 chassis however for improved resilence I want to move one of the circuits to be physically attached to the other Nexus & 6509 chasis at each site but I wasn't then sure how the traffic flows would be affected.
I recently installed a very basic version of XP on my old laptop (Gateway MT3707).After hours of searching for the correct drivers, I found them, and installed them. After installing the correct drivers for wireless internet I was able to pull up the list and find my network on it.When double clicking on our wireless network it asks for a network key (also called WEP key or WPA key). Now we have a password for our network, but after an exhausting amount of tries that won't work. I not sure if that is what its looking for. In our apartment we run mac OSX, windows vista, etc., but usually the password for the network is satisfactory. I have never ran into this problem.I hate to be a noob, but I don't know where to go from here.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHaving some serious problems on the networking front here at home. I have 3 PC's and 2 Xbox's that run constantly. Our Internet bandwidth is Insight's 50.0 which is 50Mb download speed 5Mb upload speed. The problem we're having is this. Ever since we upgraded from dual 20Mb lines on a Cisco RV042 to a 50Mb on a DIR-655 we've been having latency issues. I have everything turned off in the router. It's basically there to give out IP numbers and thats it. All security is handled from the PC's themselves. Bandwidth tests are fine, I sustain download speeds above 7MB/s using download managers. But pings are terrible. Xbox live is terrible, PC online gaming is terrible. Pingtest.com is terrible. Only when behind routers. I've tried it behind 3 seperate routers. The DIR-655, the Belkin f5d8236 that insight provided me, and the cisco rv042 originally used for dual wan routing. all of which are met with serious failure.
If I plug directly in to the modem pings are fine. Add a router and pings go to shit.
it says no network found. It worked fine but not now.

View 13 Replies View RelatedFor the past week I've had a problem browsing the internet. Now, at first, this only happened starting at around 3 am central time and ending at about 6 am when I could browse the internet properly. As the days went forth, however, it began happening earlier at around 12 am. What would happen is this: would be on the internet browsing sites and whatnot. All of a sudden (As I'm loading a new page) I would get the "Address not found" error as if I'm not connected to the internet. I could try to reload any other page on my session, but sometimes it would halfway load (ei:not loading pictures, ect.) and other times I would get Address not found. This would go for about a 4 hour time period. After that, everything would be back to normal and I could go back on my session.
Now, I'm on my laptop via a router that is in my house. We also have a desktop computer, but I noticed this problem happening on my laptop first. When it first happened, it was only on my laptop. I had internet connection and could browse it endlessly on my desktop. As the days went on, however, my desktop started having the same problem connecting to the internet (I still noticed the problem on my laptop first and then I would go see if the desktop had it too). When this first happened, I was thinking my laptop wasn't connecting to my router. Instinctively, I reset the router to no avail. I also opened up IE (I don't use it much because it's just too slow) and tried to diagnose the problem using that. When I did this, it was giving me DNS as the problem of me not connecting to the internet. I am not a network admin so I don't know that much about DNS. I also used IE to diagnose the problem on the following days, but after the first time it only gave me a "You aren't connected to the internet" solution. Since then, I've been running a barrage of anti virus, rootkit, ect. just because I can and I haven't done it in a long time. I didn't find anything unusual in all the reports so I'm still not sure what the problem is.
i cannot find any connections!! i can with a eithernet cable but i want wireless!

I just downgraded from vista to XP on my Compaq pc that a friend gave to me. The hard drives were loaded with junk so i decided to do a fresh install with my Windows XP cd. Everything looks like its working great except it seems as if ive lost all drivers necessary to connect to the internet. Pretty much the computer can't even tell that theres a network adapter installed.

View 1 Replies View Relatedjust noticed today, that there's a FW ver.4.13 for Rev.D, which I uploaded into the router too. Captcha is now gone (I read it was flawed anyway), and no option to turn it back on (I'd do anyway). So I'm looking for the older firmware that I was using for a year or so, which was 4.11. I found it and downgraded to it (actually, this was on another DIR615 rev.D), and guess what? No catpcha in that either! As far as I remember, I was using 4.11-B04 (but not sure, really), whatever it means, and now I only find 4.11-B02 everywhere. Is it possible that those FWs with buggy captcha have been removed from FTP servers worldwide?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install the WLAN driver for Dell Dimension 9200C desktop computer running Windows XP but I keep getting the error that no compatible hardware was found. I've gone to the appropriate Dell Drivers site for the computer's model and I'm 99% sure I downloaded the correct software for WLAN: Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN MiniCard. After going to Device Manager and looking under "Network Adapters", there is no Dell WLAN card at all (direct ethernet connection for internet works). Is it possible that the computer cannot find the WLAN network card, which prevents me from installing the driver software, even though it exists? If so, what can I do? If not, I guess I'll go buy a USB network adapter.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a major issue trying to connect my Windows 7 HP Netbook to my Xbox 360 over either Twonky/Serviio or Windows Media Centre. The Xbox just isn't picking up my computer, my homegroup recognises the Xbox and it is 'Allowed' to share media, but when I test my PC connection within the Xbox dashboard, it fails to connect to PC. My network is wireless. The strange thing is I have TwonkyServer Mobile running on my Android phone and that was found by my Xbox immediately with no need to change settings or search for devices. It streams media just fine from my phone. This leaves me thinking that it is an issue with my PC as opposed to my router, I have double checked my router settings (Sagem 2304), UPnP is showing as enabled, I've reset and unchecked/rechecked the UPnP but still not working.
My TwonkyMobileServer is also unable to find my PC server although I have been able to find my MobileServer in Windows Media Player and stream media from my phone.Windows Firewall has been disabled, I've also Uninstalled my antivirus software, Avast and AVG, although AVG doesn't seem to want to disappear that easily and is still lurking in my System Tray telling me i've 'Lost protection'...Norton Internet Security is also lurking around which is odd, I can not recall installing it! It doesn't seem to be a fully installed version and doesn't seem to want to be uninstalled. Could these AV software and supposed Internet Security software be holding me back? This leaves me thinking that my PC is holding back my Network. Is there any thing I haven't thought of? Would it be the Anti-virus leftovers ruining my streaming dreams??
i jus restarted my computer and i cant connect to the internet... it says im connected on the bottom corner and even my network connections says connected to wifi. My network adapters are recognised (1394 Net Adapter, Intel Pro/1000 PM Network Connection), but in unknown Devices the 'Network Controller' drivers are not found (there was a Ralink RT2500 slot before, I'm assuming this is the missing driver??). EVEREST Home Edition recognises a Ralink RT2500 802.11g Wireless Network Adapter (PCI), and my PC finds new hardware on reboot, but it cannot find drivers at all. I've tried a few methods, such as Driver Detective etc. but don't have the original restore CD any more, so don't want to tamper with any other "out of date" drivers. I am not in a situation where I can order a restore CD, so I'm hesitant to System Restore in case something else becomes unresolvable.
