when i connect an eth cable to my pc everything says its doing its job righht ie driver up to date etc but i cannot get it to show as connected , all i get is that a cable is unplugged warning .

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently reformatted an old hdd and i've installed windows xp professional on it and as usual the first thing that came to mind was to go on the internet to download all the drivers i needed. I ran into my first problem, apparently i can't access the internet because i don't have the driver that allows me to use the internet. I've downloaded the same driver that i had on the other hard drive, but it's just not doing anything, i can't create a Local Area Network in my connections. I'm on the same computer as said computer, except different hard drive. Don't have any of the cd's nor do i know which drivers were installed on this hard drive.

I just installed nVidia Nforce drivers for my Asus 750i motherboard, I show I have internet connection, however I can not get windows to pull up a site. TRIED everything reset modem, router, checked all settings. When I pull up the networking system information, it states connection status: disconnected via the Nvdia controll panel. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just wired my house and have a cisco 2950 switch running in the basement. every rj45 jack in the house works with everything except one computer. we have a HP with an nforce 4 chipset. this computer was connected through a hub and to a netgear router using the wires in the walls, the same wires and ends this switch is connected trough now. This computer stoped detecting a connection when we moved it off the hub and to the switch. all the ends and punch downs are using B wiring pinout. I have tried a new cable, when i plug any cable from the wall jack to this laptop it works, when i move the same cable to the HP it does not detect any cable plugged into it. when i setup ICS on this laptop it will connect and does detect the connection with the same cable running from the wall jack to the HP that it previously did not detect.perhaps the HP wants to use the 2 pairs that are other wise dormant? im about to install a new nic and see what that does but i can not understand why the Nforce nic would not connect to a cisco switch

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter getting the cable set up (some new wireless modem that comcast gave us) we were able to connect to the internet once, after putting in the password, but after that the next day our computer would not recognize any networks at all, it's just say no connections are available.I already:-restarted computer,-reset modem (we used to have a router and a cable modem but now only the wireless modem)-rolled-back drivers,-disabled then re-enable driver (did NOT uninstall or reinstall)-opened the computer up, take out the adapter, tryed and got the dust off-unscrewed and rescrewed antenna- tested a laptop, and it had an internet connection - and probably a few other things which I can't rememberLast time on the computer, I uninstalled a few things with revo, ran registry cleaner, browsed internet, and installed a new nvidia driver (after the problems arose). I was able to install a netgear wireless usb adapter (which is how I'm on the internet right now), but it frequently gitters and I can't use the NetGear for very long seeing as how a different computer uses it.

Due to the fact that she no longer remembered the password to the computer I did a clean install of Windows Vista Home Premium to gain access to the computer. Unfortunately, while the computer seems to be running perfectly, when I attempt to find network connections my computer not only can't find wireless connections, but it doesn't even allow the option of manually creating a wireless connection under my Internet options.My computer has a built in NVIDIA nforce Network controller listed under my network adapters and when I check its status it states that it is working properly, yet it doesn't detect any wireless networks. In addition to this, I've read online that the wireless indicator light on my computer should switch from orange to blue when turned on, but even with my wireless switched on the light remains orange.I've also clicked the update drivers option on the NVIDIA network controller, but it states that the drivers are current and changes nothing.

Basically a while ago last year some time in December my desktop got turned on one day and the internet wasn't working. I tried using my wireless to connect but even that was stuck on "acquiring network address". Ive played around with it abit since then and now my etherent cord shows up as connected but when I go into properties it says no packets getting sent / received. In device manager all my network adapters are cool and dont have any "!" next to them.Ive also tried the cord in my laptop and it works cool.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIve been using my Sony Vaio laptop (windows 7) to connect to my uni halls internet connection by ethernet cable (and keysurf login) for months with no problems, now all of a sudden my ethernet cable is not being recognised. its not a problem with my connection or cable as other people's laptops work on it. and its not a problem with my hardware as my laptop works in other people's rooms. its just the combination of my laptop and my connection. My friend did something along the lines of resetting the IP address, but not really sure what he did. So i've done a full recovery of my computer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect a pc with a cable modem using a cat5 UTP cable.I initially checked all the wires of the cable with a meter and then punched the RJ45 connectors to both ends and also checked them with a cable testing device and the straight through mappings were correct, but when i connect the two ends to the cable modem the respective lights do not show up. I have not tried the wire from the pc to the cable modem yet. The cable length is 72 meters.

I recently installed Arkham City on my computer played it for a while, tried google chrome, gave me a corrupt profile error or something (internet still worked and was connected at the time) restarted my computer and now it's telling me there isn't an ethernet cable connected to my computer.
Here's what I tried so far:
-Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver
-Updating the driver
-Using the network troubleshooting for windows 7
-Doing a system restore before I installed the game (gave me an error saying could not complete restore)
-Currently scanning my computer in safe mode with networking (seeing if that might work, doesn't) with malewarebytes
-Unplugged and replugged the router and modem
-Checked the router on another computer to see if there's a connection (there is none)
-Checked the router to see if there is a light in the port connected to the ethernet, it's blinking at a very slow a steady pace, unlike the ones around it which are solid green lights
-Tried the ethernet cable on another computer, works fine.

The other night we had a thunderstorm. It kicked me off the internet. Now, I can connect directly to my computer to my laptop (wired), but when I try and establish the connection between the Cable Modem and the Router...it will show a connection between my PC and my netgear WND3400, but not between the router and the cable modem. Also, the ethernet port on router does not light up when connected to modem.

The only way I seem to be able to get connected to the internet now is to run a cable to my ethernet switch, and then onwards to my computer itself. Even when doing this the net seems to be very slow, won't connect through Chrome etc or just flat out won't connect.

I can see that the ethernet adapter(s) are shown as media disconnected but I don't understand how to make them connected. I also don't understand why there are two ethernet adapters or what the Tunnel Adapters are.Before I did the ipconfig command I went into Control Panel/Device Manager/Network Adapters/SiS Ethernet Controller, right clicked and selected the Update Driver Software which searched the internet for a driver and installed it.
I live in a frat and I am currently researching how to design and configure the most efficient network for the house. However, one of the other big problems we have is connectivity of our ethernet cables. We have an IT room with 2 switches that feed ethernet cables to all parts of the house and connect to an ethernet box in the wall where we can simply wire in our internet connection. We have wireless routers too but to keep the bandwidth usage across the WAP's I want to let people use the wired connections. However, many of the connection in the house do not work at all. I plug in my laptop to the wall jack and it gives me the No Internet Access notice. I don't understand why it works in some rooms and not others. All jacks seem to go into the same switches at the other end so I cannot figure out what the problem could be.
