recently signed up with comcast and everything was working well the first day or so. My download speed has since crashed and burned, getting .3-.5 Mbps down but still normal ~4Mbps upload speed. A wired setup through the router gets ~22Mbps, which is what I'm paying for so it's not an ISP issue. how I can figure out if it's the router's wireless or my laptop's card (no other PC handy) and what I can do to fix it.
If I get a new wireless router that is N and attach it to my desktop computer, will my laptop which has a G wireless card in it be able to work without any modification? I thought I read that N is downward compatible with B and G cards, but then I saw some kind of network adapter that is put in the USB and wondered if I'd have to do that with the laptop. I'm leaning towards a E3200 right now.
I'm running a Dell and a Sony laptops with XP sp2 and using a toshiba Windows 7 as wifi network host. I had been using a Belkin Wireless G plus MIMO router and have now switched to a Belkin ShareN300 router hooked to a Mediacom modem for internet access. All computers have Internet access but not sure if XP machines are running G versus N standard. How do i find out what class network card is in a laptop and how to upgrade to get best performance from new router?
Wireless connection suddenly stopped working. Ran Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility and got "There are currently no wireless adapters available and enabled". Device manager states network adapter working properly. I have disabled, then enabled it and it still won't work.
Is there a way that the desktop can get on the internet through the same aircard that is plugged into the laptop? Or will I have to purchase a cell phone card for the desktop too. At the moment both computers are routed thru a satellite modem which I want to get off of.
I had to send my HPg61 laptop in to check out a heat issue a few months ago. When it came back, I got a headphone jack issue (now resolved) and a Wi-Fi problem - I used to have great wifi from my bedroom to my parent's study which is where the modem is, even when I did have the heat issue, but when I got it back, that all changed. From my bedroom, my laptop would say "no connection detected" and had a red x over the wifi icon in the taskbar, but would have good connection if I were in the living room with it. This didn't last long - one day, the icon turned into a computer with a red x over it.
I am trying to upgrade some older laptops (about 4 years old or more) WiFi. Most of them have I believe 802.11 b,g cards in them. I would like to upgrade to b,g and n so they will connect to all home networks more easily. I believe most of the b,g and n internal WiFi cards have three wires were all my laptops only have two.
I am using HP dv9000 model laptop. Operating system is Windows 7. One month ago my laptop suddenly stopped detecting wireless card( It is working with Ethernet).
So I have a Lenovo Z570 laptop, which doesn't have express card or USB 3.0... And only 100mbs Ethernet.Yesterday my brother tried to stream via wired connection some very high bit rate 1080p movies, which unfortunately, some stutter/buffer a little, or had video glitches every 5 secs.I want to try gigabit Ethernet, is there a way to get gigabit Ethernet on my laptop with only esata and USB 2.0 available connections?? And if there is, do they really work??
I don't like the wifi installed in my laptops.I am thinking about switching them to intel 6300 and maybe one in bigfoot 1102 or 1103. My home router beeing 3x3 compatible I should see improvement.
Anyway I am wondering if it works easily or if I have to install some antennas inside which would be a big mess.
When I click on the Wireless Network Connection icon it says "Wireless network unavailable." There's also an error message that says "The Dell Wireless WLAN Card is disabled. Use the Dell Wireless WLAN Utility to enable it." When I right click on the wireless network icon it says "No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on. To see an updated list, click 'Refresh network list.'" I don't have a wireless switch. I have a wireless enable icon and it says Enabled. My wireless network is working because my phone sees it and two other networks in the neighborhood. I couldn't find the Dell Wireless WLAN Utility. I also tried my iPhone hotspot. Laptop did not detect it either.
I bought a brand-new Inspiron 15R laptop from Dell and the DW1510 Wireless N WI-FI card will only connect at a maximum of 72mbps. I've tried the laptop with two different N certified routers a (D-Link and Belkin). Routers are configured correctly for N speed and within 10 inches of the laptop.
The speed I am experiencing is nowhere near the 300mbps connection speed possible.
I own an Inspiron n5110 laptop(Dell) with an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030 wireless card. I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I constantly drop internet connection, mainly when downloading and playing games. In the right bottom corner, where my wireless connection signal strenght is showed, I get an yellow triangle with '!' mark in it saying 'Limited access'. When troubleshooting, the only way to get an internet connection again, I get an message 'The default gateway is not available' and it says that it's fixed. after awhile I lose internet connection again and everything repeats. I figured out that it's not from my router or Internet Service Provider. I saw in the forums the option to exchange this card for the 6230 upgraded version but that is not a variant for me because in my country the technicians can at very damage the laptop.
This past weekend I went out of town and took my Windows 7 laptop with me -- since I returned home, it has been unable to connect to my wireless network. Other devices in my home connect to the network just fine, and the problem laptop has always been fine until now. My network card is an Atheros AR9285, and I'm attempting to connect to a Medialink router with WPA password protection and AES encryption. My wireless network icon in the task bar has a yellow sign with an exclamation point in it. It says "No Internet access."
Having the same problem with a Dell Inspiron Laptop using a belkin pcmcia wireless card. It was working, but has stopped doing so. I was missing some network adapters which I have reinstalled, and the hard wired connection is now working again, but wireless will not get past the acquiring network address phase. I tried the ipconfig /all and it shows my IP address as 0.0.0.0 and the same on the subnet mask. it says the autoconfig is enabled and dhcp is enabled. My HP laptop is connecting to the wireless network just fine.
at the bottom of my lap top is my wireless card that two wires connect to but my lap top didnt have them so i had to go out and buy them but dont know how to connect wires to my lap top?
I have a linksys system WRT54G at home. I had no problems with the Linksys router until about a month ago when I decided to make it a secure network. I run three computers of the wireless router (1 desktp and 2 laptops) Since making the wireless network secure I can not connect with my business laptop IBM Thinkpad X40, but thother e computers work just fine.
I think I am having problem with my network card I am running windows 7 with Dell wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card lots of times the signal is low and I get the error message no internet connectivity or some other error message that I am not being able to connect to the network provided by my wimax modem, Is there any program that I can download to test if there are any errors related to the network card or any way to fix this?

Have Dell 6400, run Win XP serv. pack 3. No red X or yellow ! under Device Manager. I did open up laptop, took out WLAN card, restarted laptop, turned off laptop, reinstalled WLAN card, restarted laptop.
When I use my USB modem card directly connected to my computer it is much faster than when I connect it via my wireless router. Why? How do I increase the speed via the router?
how to get my driver back, D-Link wireless router NIC card driver, i formatted it yesterday because of viruses, but since then i cannot have internet unless the driver is fix back
