May 15, 2013I want to remotely access Cisco 500 switches via TELNET and WEB BASED from a server. I dont know the ip addresses for Cisco 500 switches which are configured as backbone which the ip address assigned on the network is static ip address. Specifically I want to get their configuations inorder to get their specified assigned vlans on the network. I know the ip addresses for their specified cisco 500 switches' gateways. I know that cisco 500 switches can be accesses through web. Is there other ways to solve the problem apart from going onsite and connect to the cisco 500 switches using network cable since cisco 500 swithes dont have console ports?

Nov 14, 2011We have an Asus RT-N56U router at home, which is connected directly to a cable modem. I am attempting to remotely access the router's interface, and am having trouble doing so even after configuring it properly. I configured the router's firewall to allow remote access, using port 8080. I also set up DDNS, although I tried connecting using both the IP and the DDNS name.I also set the router to respond to pings, and I am able to successfully ping the router (from a remote location) using both the DDNS name and the public IP. But when attempting to connect using my browser, it doesn't work. I have tried multiple browsers, multiple remote locations, and disabling my computer's firewall, all with no success.

May 24, 2012I recently put in a surveillance system with remote access. I have an application on my android phone and it can be viewed by any browser. While I am connected to my network these functions work fine, on my phone and any desktop/laptop. The problem happens when I try to view remotely, off my network. I had this setup on my Netgear router before I got my new fancy schmancy Cicso router becaue the netgear wasn't cutting the cheese in keeping my wireless connectionstory.So here is what I got. I need 3 ports forwarded for this work, and how I got it work on my Netgear. I have these 3 ports forwarded as single ports. I have them forwarded in a range and I have port triggering turned on. No matter what or which combination of these few things I try, I can't access the DVR remotely, again unless I'm local to MY network.Some additional notes - the DVR has a static address and that address has been reserved in the DHCP settings of the router.

May 14, 2012I'm looking to be able to access (read and write) a networked external hard drive which is connected to a home router - specifically the Netgear WNDR3400, which has a USB port explicitly for this purpose - from outside the network, via the internet. This is for work purposes (specifically for a small business that I design for). Is this doable? I've been using Dropbox but that's proving too problematic as more and more files need to be managed. I would prefer it not be through software that has to be running on a computer, as there is no "machine" running 24/7 here besides the router itself.

I can access the cameras from my local LAN both when using the local 10. ..and external 99 .. Addresses. When I go off the local connection - Access does not work. Slingbox did its auto configuration and I can access it. I just cant get to camera devices (Panosonic, Foscam, etc.).

Jan 4, 2012I have a Cisco Linksys E2500 modem and I cannot access Zoneminder which is essentially a Linux Security video DVR software package. It is running on a Ubuntu Linux server.
I have HTTP port 80 forwarded to the the static IP address of the Ubuntu server but I repeatedly get a error indicating that the connection timed out whenever I try to access Zoneminder remotely as in remotely accessing it from a coffee shop.
I have absolutely no problem accessing Zoneminder when I on my home local LAN.
I can access other software from remote locations on port 4369 with a TCP preferred protocol setting. That is, port 4369 is forwarded to another Windows workstation with an assigned static IP address. Absolutely no problems with port forwarding of 4369.
Also, I've tested port 80 on the YouGetSignal website which is used for testing port forwarding. The website indicates that port 80 is closed. But when I test port 4369, the website reports that the port is open. Zoneminder which uses port 80 is fully operational when I test port 80 via YouGetsignal.
My ISP has told me that they do not block any ports including port 80.

I need to buy a new wired and wireless router so I can sync my new Android 4G phone (I'm in an area with bad cell coverage but I can sync with wi-fi). I have a second house about 200 feet from mine and have 3 Cat5E lines running underground in conduit to it so the lady next door and and her two kids can use the internet (I have 40-50mb service for my business use at home). Problem is that my kids have discovered YouTube, streaming video, video chat, etc. and are burning up my bandwidth. I currently have two of the lines to them disconnected so that I can limit their use to one computer at a time. I'm considering having them buy a Wireless Access Point, can they connect it to the standard single Cat5E LAN wire that is coming from my new wired and wireless router when I buy it?

Now I would like to do in put the old 2wire from AT&T in a room upstairs and use it as place I can plug in the Ethernet cords and also transmit another signal. I have what's a called plug link that is plugged in down stairs and then another upstairs and it allows the Internet signal to run through the power lines. So it just about the equivalent of running a cord for down stairs to upstairs. So basically I just need to plug more then 1 thing upstairs that isn't wireless and I would also like to transmit a 2.4ghz signal upstairs and use my Motorola to transmit a 5ghz.How would I set up the 2wire to do this.

Jul 4, 2011I just installed a new RV042 v3 and updated the f/w to 4.0.3.03tm. While trying to sort out logging issues, I've tried a few times to restart the router via System Mgmt -> Restart -> Restart Router. When I do this I get the expected results -- I'm prompted to wait, and then to login again. But the System Up Time isn't reset to zero, and the log shows no sign of the router restarting.
Why doesn't this work? Is there some other way to remotely force a restart?
