A week ago I couldn't use wireless on my hp laptop. I have netgear76 and win 7. now the only way I can access is via Ethernet. I've tried the netgear genie instructions and reset the router and as soon as I remove the Ethernet cord i'm no longer connected.
View 14 RepliesI am trying to connect internet through Ethernet LAN .But I am unable to access internet. It says unidentified network with limited connectivity or local only access. But the same connection is working fine on other laptop. I checked the device manager and every looks working fine.In my ipconfig /all details, my Eternet LAN physical address shows all zeroes and has no default gateway address .Also the DNS servers address shows some alphabets instead of numbers.
View 14 Replies View RelatedLast week I was using my laptop when suddenly it disconnected from the internet. I tried fixing it the next day, and even though there were full bars, it wouldn't connect to the network. I restarted my router multiple times and nothing. So, after a fit of anger and messing with different settings on my computer. For some reason, I was able to connect to the internet 2 or 3 times over the past week for about 10-15 minutes before it would disconnect me for the rest of the day.. So, I'm honestly so stumped. I thought maybe it might have just been my router, but I'm at my dad's house now and I'm not able to connect to his network, either. I might need to go ahead an order a new wireless adapter, but neither of us are that well with computers/networking. I'm hooked up via Ethernet cord which seems to be working fine, but my wireless is only able to read and not actually connect. (On occasion it will actually connect to the internet, but when it does I can't actually access the internet)I've tried uninstalling my wireless adapter, disabling/enabling it, a bunch of weird commands that I don't even know what they do (.. probably shouldn't have messed with those), stopping/restarting services, etc.

My dad is using a netgear router DG834G V2 and has no problem until recently. He got a new phone and wanted to connect wirelessly but couldn't remember is network key. After playing around with things he's obviuosley changed something and now has no internet what so ever.
I've tried plugging in the eternet cable and accessing 192.168.0.1 but can't see any problems there. When i am able to get a connection it's local only and Internet explorer can't display web pages. And when i unplug the ethernet cable it doesn't always find the wireless connection, and if it does find it, then i have the same problem as when the lead is plugged in.
His ISP is AOL although he doesn't always access the internet via aol, he'll use IE and i'm trying to get him to give firefox a go.
I have tried disabled both windows firewall and AVG firewall and individually but still keep getting the message internet explorer cannot display webpage.

I'm trying to connect my Xbox 360 to Live by bridging my computer's wireless connection. I've done this before for a friend in a different city and it worked fine, and I felt very proud of myself for doing so. However when I try to connect here, the modem won't assign my Xbox an IP address. I've been into ipconfig/all and tried to manually assign the same IP address to the Xbox but to no avail. Same deal with the alternate MAC address option.

im using linksys broadband router model no WRT54GC firmware version 1.06....im using it since 2005 still now i didn't face any problem, but since 3days im facing a problem all of a sudden. i.e im unable to connect through Ethernet port ( through lan wire) to my PC, but i can access router through wifi.when i connect through wifi it is saying that there is no internet access. but i can access my router administration.i cross checked with another pc and another connecting cable , but same problem, no use i also tried resetting my router, updated my firmware. no use.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my HP laptop for 2.5 years now, originally bought with Vista 64 bit. It now has Windows 7. Up until now, internet access and connectivity have been working fine. But, all of the sudden today, I couldn't get Internet Access despite trying both an ethernet port and a wireless connection (connectivity was working.) I know it's something with the laptop, because my ASUS netbook has no problem accessing the internet. I've tried looking around at some of these tech support sites and haven't really found anything that's worked for me. I've tried using CCleaner to remove any temp files and clean the registry, and resetting internet settings in the command box, but still I get nothing.

My computer was playing up so I reinstalled windows. Only problem is the disk that has the drivers for the Ethernet doesn't show it so i can install. I went into the disk and tried to manually reinstall but it just installed and didn't work. I can't see the network adapter under the device manager it's like it's gone. It's a custom built system on xp.

Is there a way to replicate this for the router's Lan ports? Or possibly even just disable Lan access. The router model is a D-link DSL-2750U.

i am experiencing some sort of issue with my Ethernet Controller. About an hour ago i had run a diagnostic report, (using my Norton 360 security program) while i scrolled down the report i came across an orange attention bubble that read "Inoperable Hardware Devices" then a chart lists hardware devices that aren't working, it looked like this:

I recently got Fios installed in my home. I believe there is a box the size of a power box in the back room for the Internet.All my other devices (MAC, iPod, Blueray Player) are able to recieve instant and unbelieveable internet connection except for my Dell. I have a Studio XPS Dell computer with windows 7. I plugged in the ethernet cable in the back of my computer and into the "Fios Box" but i didn't recieve any internet. Then i bought a wireless adapter and I do get internet but it disconnects me like every 5 minutes.

Well, my cable sometimes gets loose, so I tried to tighten it up a bit but that didn't work. I tried the cable with another computer and it works fine. I checked device manager and everything should be fine there.computer is running Windows 7 Professional.Drivers are up to date, and nothing changed in the computer since yesterday when it was still working. Could it be just that the Ethernet cable port suddenly broke down? I also tried another cable, and that didn't work either. I restored the system to previous saved point.

View 1 Replies View RelatedNow that the wireless on my Dell XPS 15 Z is fine, I've run into some problems with internet connectivity with Ethernet cable. Since the beginning, I wasn't able to connect to it through cable. When I connect my laptop with the cable, it says that it's connected, and that it has an internet connection. However, I can't get on it... My browsers don't have internet, and other programs can't connect either. (that while it says that it's connected to internet, quite strange)... I was thinking of some security adjustment that might block the internet connection or something, I don't know.
Oh, something that I should mention... I was able to get internet through Ethernet cable when there was a firewall... But when there's no security to the network... It isn't possible to have internet and it gives the situation described above. (any other laptop can connect with the network, so there must be some adjustment issue...)
I am using the WRT54G2 connected to a cable modem that requires a PPPoE login. I followed the Service Providers instructions and cloned the modems MAC address to the WRT54G and setup the PPPoE user id and password. I can then plug my PC into one of the Ethernet connections on the back of the WRT54G and everything works as expected. First I connect to the WRT54G2 and then I open a PPPoE connection in my network settings and it logs into the service provider and everything works as expected. But when I connect to the WRT5G2 wirelessly I connect to the AP fine. When I open the same PPPoE connection to the service provider it fails, the message says I have the wrong userid or password or that the protocol is not supported. Of course I know the userid and password is correct because it works when connected with Ethernet cable. I have tried disabling the security on the wireless network but that did not seem to work.The modem is a HomePNA HCNA Voice Endpoint.I am at the latest firmware 1.0.04.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a TP-Link Wireless Access Point (TL-WA&01ND) and an ethernet switcher (TL-SF2005D).I have put the access point into client mode, allowing me to put it in my room and wirelessly connect to my router, allowing me to plug my PC in over ethernet and use the internet. However, after much fiddling with settings I cannot get it to work, as it continually searches for a network, and then fails to connect, despite the fact it is configured to use the network?I already have a similar setup with a netgear wireless G access point which works, and so I dont understand why the new box cannot do this when using what I believe to be the same settings.
Secondly I have an ethernet switch box which I bought to connect to the access point and switch the ethernet signal between my two PCs, my xbox and PC. This works fine with my primary PC (over my old access point) but when I try to connect my PC i get a DNS failure with auto IP settings and a gateway failure with manual settings, and other devices refuse to connect.
I have a Dell Laptop Latitude 610 and I have not been able to connect to the Internet via the ethernet cable port for some four months now. I've tried downloading software from Dell's web site, I bought (and returned) and USB to Ethernet cable, only to find out that it was a model ahead of what this machine needs.I've asked local repair place (Microcenter) what it might be, but they'll only tell me after I pay $70 just to open it up.Another repair guy said that it is probably the motherboard and it wasn't worth fixing. View 3 Replies View RelatedHave completed a Power Cycle.The affected machine is a HP Elite m9150F desktop. The symptoms include the following:
- neither the LAN connection or the wireless connction will access the internet through Internet Explorer
- microsoft email will not send and recieve
- Steam will not connect
- Norton 360 will connect to live update and download
- taskbar icon shows LAN connection is OK
- When I open Network and Sharing, the network map shows this pc is connected to internet through named network.
- Local Area Connection Status show 197,816 bytes sent and 311,088 recieved.
We have 2 laptops connected to the same wireless network working perfectly. There is also another desktop (Dell 8400) with a LAN connection to the router working perfectly. The affected pc (HP m9150f) is also connected to router with a LAN connection. The D-link Dir-615 wireless router is connected to a Shaw Motorolla modem model SB5102. The HP m9150f stopped connecting a few days ago, other than that, it worked fine.how I managed to get 4 computers running on a network in the first place..
We have a WLC 4402, with interface Management, AP-Manager, and only the ap-manager interface is enabled for dynamic AP Management, how can i enable the dynamic AP Management for management interface also. Because i couldn't access WLC from via wireless, only able to access it via wired.

With that user id i used to access the Coova AP router and internet.Now i want restore the WRT54GL firmware on Lynksys router. But with the used id and password which i had configured the router is not at all accessible. So i did 30-30-30 reset on the router 2-3 times. Now i can see openwrt login page with 192.168.1.1 IP address. It is asking for user id and password. I tried all the combinations of user id and password, but no luck. I browsed some link on the internet and some people have recommended that default user id as a "root" and blank password. But with that also the router is not accessible. I cant to do much on the router untill i will log in to router. I have spent lot of time on this. How to restore back the original WRAT54GL firmware on my router. I want to be able to access this card wirelessly, but the "dashboard" (web interface control panel) that is installed doesn't have an option for the SD card. Trendnet router ( initially w/o security). I was able to readily connect to and access all pcs to Internet. However, recently went to Trendnet on line site and installed Router password security. Was able to connect and access the Internet on 2 of the 3 desktop pcs as well as the Laptop. However, 1 desktop ( running on Windows XP Professional, 5.1.2600 SVCPK 3, Optiplex G x 60 ) does not permit access to Internet. Once I get to the screen asking for the password ( network key) , I insert same I receive an error message stating "Network key s/b WEP pr a WPA key".
My Linksys Routers IP is 192.168.1.1 am unable to access the console, although i changed the computers IP 192.168.x.y. i have tried by Hard Resetting the Router but still the same?

I have just got a new laptop from work (Lenovo T410) but cannot seem to access the internet via wireless at home. The wireless mode at home is 802.11n. On my previous laptop (a Lenovo T60), I had to buy a belkin N Wireless USB adapter and used that. But I don't think I need to use it on the T410, right? When I switch the T410 on, the Access Connections box comes on and I can see all the different wireless networks available and they have good strength, but I just cannot connect, I don't know why? I have entered the 10 digit encryption key.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am unable to connect to my home wifi from my laptop but it connects fine at work. All other devices (2 androids and 1 laptop) are able to connect to the home network. My laptop used to connect intermittently earlier - sometime the connection would be restored when i reset the router or restarted the laptop but now I'm just not able to at all. The message i get is either "Limited Access" or "Unidentified Network. No internet access" - the signal strength always is excellent. I have tried switching off and on the wireless router, have disabled and then enabled the wireless connec on the laptop, have reconfigured the wireless network on the router with a new network name and password but nothing works. However I am able to connect to the internet using the network cable - there were a few times where I couldn't do that either. I've tried browsing on several forums to get answers but haven't found any yet. [code]

For wired workstations: bridged DSL modem->wireless Linksys E900 router->Dell PowerConnect 2824 switch->2 modular 4-port jacks->individual workstations For wireless: bridged DSL modem->wireless Linksys E900 router->workstations The workstations were set up to pick up IP addresses automatically.After an infrastructure upgrade where we added some Cat6 cables and swapped the modular jacks for a patch panel, we lost all connectivity. I restored the connectivity to the wired workstations by assigning IP addresses. But we have no wireless and I cannot access the router GUI at its IP address (even when plugged directly into the router). All the workstations show the default gateway as 192.168.10.1, so I don't know what's going on.
