Had talk talk router upgrade yesterday and everything worked fine. Today wifi works on MacBook but not on PC Windows xp3. It appears in the list but won't connect on pc. Can connect to an unsecure weak connection on the list but it's not mine. Been in to router to chnage channel from auto to 11 as an eg
View 2 RepliesI just recently bought a Telewell Wlan AP wireless access point and my problem is that I can't connect to the internet with Lan, hence can't get connection on my desktop. My laptop however works fine with wlan.
There's a wall socket which connects to a bigger student local network, I can connect my desktop to it directly and it works so there seems to be nothing wrong with my computer. I've had 2 routers before this, another Telewell that worked flawlessly and a Buffalo that cut the connection every now and then but didn't have this kind of problem.
I have the router plugged into the wall, set to get a dynamic ip (as it should be) and it does find Wan-side ip-address and dns-servers, as I could connect through wifi. So there doesn't seem to be a problem with that either. But for some reason Lan doesn't work. I can access the router through Lan, dhcp is on and I can see my desktop on the routers client list.
My pc will not pick up the internet, my iPad does through my wifi. I called my provider and they said my connection is fine, they mentioned not using a USB cable but when I take it out my wifi won't work on my iPad. My pc keeps saying not connected to the internet. I have a modem and a router, do I only need 1 maybe?

View 19 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to connect to the internet via the Ethernet port on my laptop, but the built-in Wi-Fi card works perfectly fine. I normally use Wi-Fi, as our signal is very strong, even if I go outside and up the road, I can still connect.
My issue is that although I don't need it, I'd like to setup Ethernet for the first time since installing Windows 7. I've had Windows 7 since April 2011, and prior to that I used Windows Vista. From memory, I don't think Vista had any problems with connecting via Ethernet back before I moved house, but this was over two years ago.
My laptop is an ASUS X58L, and the NIC identified by Device Manager, is a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC. Going into the properties, I can see that I have the latest Windows 7 driver installed - 6.111.723.2009, however prior to this I had the driver that came with the machine (when it was running Vista), which was 6.108.331.2008 and tried updating from Device Manager, but for some reason it said that I had the best driver already installed. To install the 2009 Windows 7 driver, I had to manually download it from Realtek. With either of the drivers, connecting via Ethernet doesn't work, and I'm confused as to what to do next.

Yesterday, My internet kept failing when i was watching youtube videos,so i had to keep toggling the wifi on my laptop. Now ,my network keeps saying no internet access, yet my phone has no issues with the wifi. No, i dont have or use Mcafee. I ran malwarebytes but it didnt find anything. Superantispyware keeps crashing (I dont run both at the same time.)
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy computer just randomly stopped connecting to the intenet. I checked my other computers and phone and found they were all working fine. I was having internet problems pior to this happening (internet was being very slow and some web pages and some videos wouldn't load. I think the latter had to do with flash player though.) I had also been doing some stupid stuff on my comp that I know can give you viruses. Furthermore I also knew that due to previous virus's I was not able to do a restore. So as you have probably gathered my computer was pretty buggered even before this problem. So decided to restore to factory default using some backup images I made when I first got the comp. That went smoothly however the internet stilll doesn't work unless I plus it in using a ethernet cable.

Ran worm removal and spybot but nothing has worked. Also the windows bar is missing now for some reason. Windows Xp Service Pack 3.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI moved to a new house last week, and i have comcast internet which works on cable lines.i have them for years. anyways, i got my own motorola sb5101 modem, which i use for a while now.the problem is that in the new house the modem only works when it is connected to a computer with windows xp, it DOES NOT work on windows vista or 7,also, when i connect my router into it, it does not work either.when i connect it to windows 7 64-bit, it says "unidentified network" and "no internet access" but it works perfectly fine on windows xp 32 bit. (i have 2 xp's and 3 windows 7's)
View 5 Replies View RelatedI can only connect to the development server when I am logged into the VPN (Cisco VPN)I do most of my work on my desktop, which is running XP sp3. While logged into the vpn there, I can reach the SVN and FTP servers fine, but I cannot connect to the development website to view anything.I also have a laptop that is running windows 7. When I connect to VPN on that, I can connect to the website just fine. It is all from within my house so using the same router / cable modem / internet service. Both have installed the latest Cisco VPN softare, and use the same profile to connect.The differences are, windows 7 vs Windows XP. Windows 7 is running Microsoft Security Essentials and XP is running Comodo.
However, even when I turn off Comodo on XP I still can't connect to the website. (Just FYI, I also have XP as dual boot on the laptop and tried connecting from it but no go). I am getting absolutely no assistance from the company I am working on, so really can't ask them anything, I guess it is something I have to figure out myself.But it is frustrating me. I prefer to work on my desktop and it is set up in with all my development tools etc in a nice environment, where the laptop is noisy and slow and not a preferred work place.
I have a shared laptop that allow some to connect to the wireless network while it will not let one person to.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using my laptop since a year now and yesterday suddenly my internet stopped working. On top of the connectivity bar a yellow sign appeared. Now my internet status is "No internet access" but when i connect my ethernet cable the internet starts working and i can see the "Internet access" status. I have re-installed my wi-fi driver too from the orignal CD that i got with my laptop, but still no luck also i did not install anything in past 1 week and the only anti-virus i have is Avast (tried disabling it too). I plugged out the cables from my router and plugged them again but that dint work too. There are 2 other laptops (running on windows 7 just like mine) on which the wifi connection is working but on mine it is not working.

Both computers are connected to the router, as well as I've got no problems sharing files to my PS3 via media servers. But connecting the two computers is impossible. I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried connecting the two both using Homegroup services, and in the old fashion way, without the Homegroup service, using only IPv4.It seems like firewall settings and sharing in general works ok, but making it work over WLAN is very troublesome.

She has an emachine with windows 7 that won't browse the internet even though it appears to be connected. The internet works fine in safe mode. She didn't have any antivirus software (in fact, she doesn't have that many programs at all) so I downloaded malware bytes and the scan came back clean.She has Hughesnet (the satellite people) as her ISP and she says that the problem started after they upgraded her modem.I'm a bit stumped as to what the problem could be, since all the google searches I did on the topic seemed to be some kind of problem with antivirus software (having two conflicting, or some kind of wonky settings) or a virus, neither of which seems to be the case.

Orignially it worked when I used internet explore 64-bit but eventually that stopped working as well. I have 3 accounts on this computer and I need safemode with networking for all of them. View 2 Replies View RelatedMy laptop works fine on my network for 80% of the time but the rest of the time I get yellow triangle and the system says limited access. The annoying bit is that when this happens my smartphone is still connected to my wifi network and works perfectly so I can only assume there is a fault on the laptop. I take out the network adapter plug then plug it in and the laptop usually reconnects but sometimes it can take about half an hour!

i have bought TP-Link W895IND and frequently the WIFI is not working. Everytime i have to active and deactive. Now since last one day it totaly stoped working . WIFE icon is glowing continously without flickering.
I'm running Windows Vista on a Dell Laptop. Normally I just use wireless wherever I am but now I need to hard wire to the computer. It was initially working for a few minutes but then the connection dropped. Now whenever I plug the cable in, it shows it as being connected but comes up as local only so I can't browse or do anything.
I have tried:
-Restarting the machine
-Ensuring that windows was picking up the IP addresses automatically
-Checking the connection on another computer, works fine.
-Disabling the IpV6
-Disabling/Enabling the LAN connection in the Manage network connections setup
-Uninstalling, re installing the driver for the ethernet adapter
-System Restore
I've also tried in safe mode with networking and have disabled any firewalls that were running.Again, most of the time I never use the hard wired connection, but whenever I have, it hasn't had any problems until now.It always comes up as being connected, but says local only.

I have Lenovo laptop and my internet works just fine when the cable is connected but Wifi does not work. It shows that i have excellent signal on the side but it just wont connect. When i type in password it says " Windows cannot connect to XYZ ". I use Windows 7 and my wireless network adapter is Atheros AR9285.

I have an E1200 model 1 router. I've owned it for over a year and it's given me no problems until now...Hardwired ethernet connections work fine, but the wifi no longer works consistently. I have several wireless-N wifi devices that either cannot connect to the router at all (they present an error message), or do connect but will not load anything over the connection, or will load web pages very very slowly and then suddenly drop the connection.When I go to the DCHP client table, I see all of my ethernet connections but it does not show any wifi devices, even if the WiFi device is showing a connection to the router.The wifi connection is secured via WPA2 Personal.I have tried changing channels to one that was not congested with any other nearby routers. I have also tried a 30-30-30 factory reset. I am updated to the latest firmware version (1.0.03). I am sure I am entering the correct pass phrase to connect over WPA2. All of my wifi devices are confirmed to be wireless-n, not g or b.
