Apr 3, 2011My Wifi internet was working fine 12 hrs ago; now I can only use it with wire.I uninstall 2.0 and install Asus wireless console 3.0 but still not working, Fn+F2 not working either.

Nov 27, 2012I configure my Cisco ACS5.2 using Command set policy and providing Shell access 15.I allow user only “show * ” command.It works fine with Telnet. User Group cannot execute any command apart from “Show * ”But when I connect the device using Console user group has full permission on the devices.I believe Command set policy is not working on Console. Is it normal behavior or do I need to update some changes in ACS or Network devices ?
My network device configuration is as below :

Jan 27, 2003We have a 6509 running 5.4(2). We have set up a hyperterm session and connect to multiple devices, then we get to the 6509 and it will not work. When we reload the 6509 and we are consoled into it, we get data until it is finished reloading. Then the console connections is no longer there.

Mar 31, 2013implementation of the cisco CSS 11501 boxes available as spare on our site into production for an application evry thing worked as expected. i was able to telnet the active/master box and was able to console both master and backup box from the console port.however a week post the activity im faced with this weird problem where im not able to take console or the telnet access of my primary/active box.The boxes are working in BOX-to-BOX redundancy and now im not able to telnet or console my active/master box. The telnet and console window prompts me for username and password and after entering the credentials nothing happens. no prompt or no error message is displayed.
The telnet primary authentication is via tacacs and secondary is via local. however for console im not using any method for primay authentication and local for secondary authentication. however i can successfully console my backup box. below are my obsrvations 1. the left and right status LED on the active CSS box is OFF.- it means my CSS 11501 failed and has no power. 2. upon firing the rcmd command with show line command on backup box i see that the telnet sessions and console session is established with the master box3. the redundancy state of the active box says it is master and has not changed state since my last activity, no application issue reported, all the services are active on the active box and also i can ping the active box ip address from my backup box over which box to box redundancy is established. This confirms the active box is functioning well 4. i initially thought the telnet sessions are not getting cleared, however the show line cmd with the rcmd cmd on the backup box confirms this is not happening. now im stuck as the active box cannot be accessed at all via console or telnet. i was thinking of below steps to be carried out.1. to failover the boxes and make the backup as master2. then try to take the faulty box off the network and troubleshoot (are there any other commands that i should use to troubleshoot)3. if nothing works try rebooting the box and check
NOTE: the software running is version 7.20.30.3 with standard feature set. we are not using cvdm or the CSS GUI. we could access the css initially on CSS gui and that is also not working now.

Cisco Switches :: Linksys SRW2016 Switch Serial Console Not Working
Jan 5, 2011I have had the switch for about 2 years and recently moved. The manual specifies:
38400 bps and 8-n-1 serial port settings using DB9F to DB9F cable.
I have done this and tried using multiple machines/ports/cables as well as several peices of software (minicom, PuTTy, hyperterminal) and none give me any output from the switch at all.
The trouble is that in its original config, it had 1 port locked into its own VLAN for management with port security and an obscure RFC1918 IP address which I cannot recall for the life of me.
At this point, I have no access to TCP/IP management so serial console is my last hope and is not working.

Feb 13, 2013I have issue with Cisco Router 2801's Console Port. My student was doing a lab and he said during configuration, Console Port stopped responding. He was in middle of configuration, so now at present, only telnet is able to login on "R2>" user mode, enable password is not set, so getting "R2>en % No password set R2>" I have tried different terminal software but no output from Console Port, changed the Console Cables, replace with working console cables, change speed (baud) settings. Also tried to connect same console with "AUX" port and got same error mentioned above. AUX Port responds but I am not able to change mode (R2#) because of incomplete running-config. it seems "Console Port" is physically damaged.

Nov 29, 2011i'm trying to enable command authorization for ssh as well as console access to a Nexus 7010 box (version 5.0). Following is the config:

aaa authentication login default group ACS5-1 local

As you can see, the default group configuration ACS5-1 for authenticatoin has applied to both defaults and console. But the command authorization does not appear to be applied to the console. As a result, when i login from the console and get authenticated, the command authorization does not trigger and i can run commands I'm not supposed to. In the configuration, I do not see "aaa authorization console" option unlike we have in IOS.

Apr 23, 2013my client claimed that right after thry upgraded their WLC 4402 to version 7.0.220.0 from the version that came preinstalled (factory) the can no longer console into the device. They were able to console into the 4402 before the upgrade but now they can't. I'm thinking that maybe they upgraded straight to the new version and didn't verify to see whether they were allowed to upgrade directly to that version 7.0.220.0 or if they needed to upgrade to a intermediate version , the proceed to upgrade to the 7.0.220.0.

Jan 3, 2011We forgot the IP address of this WAP, and resetting the router doesn't take it to the default IP, no matter how I try to reset it. The SSID (and WEP key) stays the same too, which makes me wonder if the reset button is even working. We can still connect computers wirelessly through it and have them access the internet. Our issue is we need to change the SSID. Right now it just connects people invisibly - it gives them IPs from the subnet it's attached to, and yet the various DHCP servers I've connected to never show it as having its own DHCP address.

We verified our serial connection works - 9600; 8bits; 0 and none works on other devices. When we connect (via Console) we get a blank screen with a blinking cursor. We can't get to it from GUI/Web as well. Tried depressing the reset button and we see the LED's flash from yellow to green, but still no access. Our web search has not produced any useful ideas.

I recently bought an new router TP-LINK TL-WR842ND. After configuring it I connected it via an cable connection to my PS3. The Internet connection works correct and I'm able to use all network feature on my console.
Then I connected a USB Hard Drive to it USB port and I enabled Media Server feature on the router. I have done steps described here url... but with no results. My PS3 sees the Media Server, but when I open it it shows no files.

Jun 6, 2013I have been having problems with a 2106 WLC which seems to have developed a fault. I cannot console into the device (although I can console into the ap1131ag showing no fault with the RJ45 - 9 Pin) and the device is no longer showing up in any of the possible I.P ranges.
Its showing a power light and a status light on the front panel, the Ethernet ports light up like a Christmas tree when a device is connected and the power supply is putting out a solid 47.7v.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before and can anyone suggest anyway of breathing life back into it?

I am trying to connect to console port but the problem is that I only get log messages but I cannot edit something or type any commands. I have attached the log messages if you can catch something from there. Ignore the messages about not finding controller because the AP has been removed from the real network to my office.

Jan 18, 2011Recently we had a situation where our users were unplugging one of our un-mounted 1252 LAPs. They would do this so they could borrow the wire to direct connect any one of their devices not realizing they were disconnecting a wireless access point. After discovering that the AP was unplugged once again, our admin plugged the AP back to the network but noticed that it no longer would connect to the controller. We can no longer console into the AP but can console into all other APs we have. All 3 lights are now green. Radio and Ethernet are solid and Status is blinking. I found the Cisco doc explaining the meaning of the front panel lights but have not found this particular configuration. What these lights mean and why not being able to use the console port?

May 30, 2012I was trying to get into my router to give it a reboot yesterday, but was unable to get into the console. I used the username/password I've used for over a year (it was also auto saved) but it would not let me in. I went through all the steps to do a hard reset/restore default settings and it wouldn't let me. I had to access the boot loader to reload firmware, and that worked out just fine.
Now, I still cannot get access to the administration console with the default username (blank) and password (admin). I've tried moving my PC to ports 1-4 and none work.
I was about to give up on the router but I tried connecting from my iPhone and everything works just fine. I was even able to change my SSID and WPA key again.
Would this be a hardware issue, or could there be something in Windows 7 that's affecting it? I have disabled the windows firewall and AVG and still can't get any access from either Firefox or IE.
A couple of times I was able to get onto the first page of the console through IE, but if i tried clicking anything else it would ask for the username/password again and not connect. Now it won't even let me in once.
Unable To Access Linksys Console
May 2, 2012I have linksys ADSL Router which is having one line port for Phone Line and 4 Ethernet Ports.The Router IP is 192.168.1.1. When i connect this Router through one of its Ethernet Port to one of the Network Point(which is DHCP enabled)is working fine. I get the IP 192.168.3.x from my existing DHCP not from the ADSL Router which is enabled.Secondly, Although i can Ping the Router IP 192.168.1.1 from Wifi client 192.168.3.X, But when i try to open the Router Console a Login window open and is says " your are trying to access the Router in an insecure ways and it doesnt not authenticate ID and PWD.When i directly connect Router to my Laptop then am able to do so.
