I can not connect to DNS sever sometimes. Also it is slow to load up the internet. It will show that I am connected then not then connected then not and then finally it will connect I get alot of IE can not display page. Then once I run the tool they say no problems detected.
View 2 RepliesAmbit U10C018 send light not working. All other lights indicate proper functions. Usb not in use or connected. Enet, power, ready, receiving and sync all appear to be working properly. Have rebooted both modem and computer countless times, replaced Ethernet card (DFE-530TX+(Rev f), checked cables, all appear normal. Suddenlink service, cable guy didn't locate problem (didn't try very hard either).

When she tries to connect, it does not show up on the list of wlan connections in taskbar. I went thru network settings to try and set up the Ubee and it pops up in a few seconds, then tells you to hit next button and then ask for a 4 to 8 digit pin number which it says is on the modem.

I have looked up countless guides, and have done everything in them, I have a static IP, I used the gateway to create the port forwarding rule, AND opened the ports on the windows firewall.

My Motorola SBG901 Modem/Router combo has stopped connecting to the internet. I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently had trouble with my Comcast Xfinity internet service and called to have them send a refresh signal. I was up and running again with my ethernet, but my wireless service using a Belkin N150 wireless router hasn't worked.From everything I had read I needed to do a hard reset of the Belkin N150 router and then reconfigure it's settings. Well I did the hard reset and power cycled everything, the modem, computer and router. I then plugged in everything again and connected the modem to the WAN on the router with one cable, and the computer to the LAN on the router with another cable. (I am using a Macbook Pro operating with Mac OSX). Now I cannot connect to the url...to configure the settings on the router at all!
I think the problem has something to do with my IP address. I opened the network settings and saw that my IP address is 50.138.25.x while my Subnet Mask is 255.255.254.0 and the router is being listed as 50.138.24.x. How to change this IP address to get my router connected or could it be another problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a new modem from the cable company Arris TG862G. This is a wireless modem and I had them set everything up on their end which is now after 2 hours with them on the phone working fine. The problem I'm having is somewhere in my computer is my guess and their guys didn't know which way was up so i gave up on them fixing my issue. So here I am. I have a custom built computer that is using a Gigabyte mobo and has been working fine with the on board Ethernet card before now. I used to have the desktop plugged into an Arris modem via a Belkin router and this set up worked fine. I also took the current modem and plugged it into the Belkin N600 router and then to my computer and to my complete bewilderment it worked fine. I wanted to get rid of the router so I could see if I could get faster download speeds (That initial issue being on speed tests I get 50mb/s and on actual downloads I would only get 5mb/s).
I got it to work (I have no idea how) for about 20 minuets. When I restarted the computer it stopped working. I am now back to square one which is the desktop not even recognizing that there is a cord plugged in. I know the cord is fine and the ports are fine as well that isn't the issue. My laptop connected just fine to the Ethernet cord with no issue. I have uninstalled the Belkin software to see if that was the issue and no change. Everything wireless works just fine, it is just this Ethernet connection that is FUBARed, and again ONLY with the desktop.I am running Windows 7 ultimate. I am about to QQ and just deal with the 5mb/s downlods because that's not terrible but I got greedy.I was messing with the Ethernet wire some and it started picking up the router but never tried to connect to the internet, I'm going to try other wires but I don't think that's the issue.
OK so another update ladies and gents: my desktop has been on for about 40 minuets now and it is connected to the modem. I have done nothing to it that would cause this and it just randomly happened. Short of never turning my computer off again which would be hell on my power bill what can I do to fix this problem? On speedtest.net I'm only getting 30.48 Mb/s and as I said earlier I should be getting around 50mb/s (which is what I get on on the wireless laptop). I just restarted it and it wouldn't connect to the modem again.

I recently upgraded my DSL service, which required installing a new VDSL modem/wireless router (Actiontec c1000a.) Before the upgrade, I was using an older standalone DSL modem with a Netgear router to provide wireless access to my gaming consoles, laptop, etc. Everything works as before with my new wireless router EXCEPT my son's laptop. All my consoles, iPods, and desktop CAN connect to the wireless network, and the laptop will connect over a WIRED ethernet connection. I cannot get it to connect to the wifi.

I'm starting this thread because I can't get my new Linksys AE2500 wireless use adapter to connect to my new Linksys X2000 ADSL modem. I purchased both of these devices because my old 2wire modem kept dropping the wifi signal and I had to keep turning off and on the modem in order to get the wifi signal back. Now my problem is that I can't connect my AE2500 adapter to the x2000 modem at all, heck I can't connect any wifi enabled device to the modem even though the SSID and password is correct. The adapter finds the network but it can't connect to it at all. The x2000 modem works perfectly since I can use the internet if I connect my computer to it via Ethernet cable but unfortunately I have my desktop in my room and the modem is in the living room so connecting using an Ethernet cable really isn't an option. I tried using my old 2wire modem to see if it would connect to that modem and it did as a matter of fact and the speeds were good but as of late, the speeds have been horrible and the signal drops every few minutes. I get 1 bar in the network status and speed of 1.0 Mbps. Here is a picture for reference:
The problem only persists when using wifi though because when connected to the 2wire modem, the speeds are fast. Range isn't really a problem because im like 10 feet away from the router so I'm not sure what's causing that problem. I assume it's the modem being that its about 7 years old so I would really like to get my x2000 working to see if it's better than my old 2 wire. I'm currently connected to my old 2wire modem via my AE2500 wireless usb adapter as that's the only way I can use the internet.Here's my info:

Yesterday when I got home from college my computer randomly could not connect properly to my wireless modem. It tells me the SSID etc but when I connect to it, it becomes an unidentified network and has no internet connectivity. This problem only occurs on my laptop via wifi, wifi still works fine on other computers and my phone so I assume it is a problem on my laptops end. Also my laptop can connect to other wireless networks, ie my schools public network, and they work fine. I'm running windows 7 home premium.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just moved into a new place with a DSL modem and am using the connection from the old tenant until my internet gets set up a while from now. I can plug the ethernet straight from the modem into either my laptop or desktop, and it works perfectly fine. But when I plug into my LinkSys 2500 router, it can't connect. I've tried rebooting the router, the router and the modem, plugging the modem back in first, plugging the router back in first. Nothing. But all I have to do is pull the ethernet cable from the internet port and click it into my laptop, and voila! internet. My name isn't on the account so I can't call the ISP and see if there are any special connection instructions, but I suspect there aren't any based on just being able to plug a computer straight into it.

A week ago my internet went down due to heavy rain and technical support had a home visit yesterday to re-activate my internet connection. My net connection came back smoothly using a direct connection from modem to laptop.When I tried to connect the modem to my wifi router, the internet was not detected. Even if I reset the router settings, no internet connection was detected. Initially, I thought there is a problem with my wifi router so I connected the modem to our Edimax wired router but still it could not detect internet access. Every time I open a browser while connected to a router, this message is shown (see attached screenshot).
I tried using another ISP, Wi-Tribe with both wired and wifi routers and everything worked well. So now I assume the problem lies with my SmartBro ISP. I called the ISP hotline but they told me that they do not provide support for router connection problems; only with single, direct connect to a PC.I asked a neighbor IT technician to look into my problem but he too could not solve the problem.
So we just got a new router for our higher speed internet. The modem is an Actiontec Q1000 from Qwest. We used to live out in the middle of nowhere, so we never needed to secure our internet. Now we live close to neighbors and we need to encrypt the wireless. When I try any encryption, however, I can't connect at all. I have tried temporarily having it unlocked and I could connect without a problem. It also works fine when I'm using my Ethernet cord.
