Nov 16, 2012Belkin N450 Router. I want to restrict Internet access completely but allow LAN access to a shared drive for a particular computer on my wireless network. I have gone into the web based set up page and under access controls have enabled and added this computer to the list. I have blocked http, https, ftp and nntp. I don't know if this is enough. The reason I am asking is that I am in Iraq right now and I want to allow my fellow team members access to the wireless for using viber on their iphones but one cat even though he has hardwired internet wants to continuously suck off my wireless for his computer to download stuff since I paid for faster internet. I am trying to do this quietly and still allow him access to the shared drives on the LAN. Sooooo If I block him just outright will he still have access to the drives or do I need to pick and choose like I did above and if I need to pick and choose did I miss anything other then pop3 email and imap?

It is great with our ten different devices (possibly even a dozen?), but it continues to disconnect a Kindle Fire - that used to connect with no problem - evidently upon acquisition of a newer Kindle Fire. As long as MAC Filtering is not enabled, then there shouldn't be an issue of a "white list" - which the Kindle manual suggests as a solution ("If ... filtering is enabled, ensure your Kindle's MAC address is added to your router's white list in your network settings"). (I did figure out how to go to the network address, but was mostly flumoxed from there)

I cannot get my new Samsung Note 10.1 (GT-N8000) connected. I have tried changing the router to WEP 128bit and even no security. The Samsung links perfectly to my neighbours Thomson Wireless Modem/router with no security. The Belkin N1 is recognising the android trying to link and assigns an IP. The Samsung instantly sees the Belkin network ( says " very strong signal") & tries to connect. It saves the network but gets stuck trying to obtain an IP address & reports "network disabled" and "weak signal".

Dec 26, 2012Every device I've tried to connect to my WiFi network have no issues connecting at all, except for, as far as I can tell, Samsung Android phones. My sample set is very small, but both a Samsung Galaxy S3 (both before and after custom ROM install) and a stock Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
I've tried setting a vlan up with no encryption and open authentication, and the phones just halt on "connecting". This issue is both on the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Radios.
What is working is various computers with both intel and broadcom adapters, a Brother printer, and a Motorola Droid 3 and Motorola Photon Q. I'm starting to think that it's an issue with the radio in the Samsung phones, but the S3 is 5ghz compatible and the Nexus is only 2.4, so they must have different radios. I'm also pretty sure that it's not software on the phones since the S3 had the same problem with stock ROM and CM 10, and the Nexus is Vanilla Google ROM.
I'm waiting to get a chance to upgrade to the new FW for my aironet 1040, and I'm going to fire up an old 1130AG as well as test with an iphone or ipod when I get the chance; I'd just really like to find out what the heck is going on with these samsung phones.

Everything attached to it can hit the internet- the TiVo, the Samsung smart TV, my laptop via 1000baseT, and to anything else networked in the house. Presently the iPad can control the Tivo, but not the Pioneer. But Airplay on the iPad connects to the Pioneer with no problem. And then the iPad remote can control the Pioneer again.Another example is that the iPad can't find the TiVo, but my Android phone can. Usually.
