Cisco Switching/Routing :: C3640 / Show Ip Protocols Not Showing Anything
Apr 14, 2012
For an assignment in a class I am taking I created a simple network using GNS3 and set up static routing. Everything works fine, I can ping all of the hosts. One of the questions I am supposed to fill out is what happens when I use the "show ip route" and "show ip protocols" commands. When I use "show ip route" I get what seems to be the correct output. However when I use the "show ip protocols" command nothing happens. No output, no error, no nothing. It just goes right back to the prompt. This happens exactly the same on both routers in my network. incase it matters the router is c3640.
PS. would the output be non-existent because I have not set up any ip protocols. In a similar assignment I set up rip and when I used "show ip protocols" i did get what appeared to be the correct output. However I didn't write it down and when I put in the command again about an hour later after I took a break I also did not get an output until I re-entered the rip related commands.
I've been trying to configure a connection which requires NAT translation but my devices are too old and seems that the configurations I tried doesn't work or I don't know how to implement it properly.Firstly, I will introduce my router to you, it is a Cisco C3640-JS-M Version 12.2(1), so I found many ways to solve my problem, but none of them are supported by it.
To continue, the connection I am trying to configure is the following one:
So one host from 172.22.1.0/24 needs to connect to a server in my LAN (10.1.1.20) but they can´t use the real IP and we need to configure a NAT rule to translate traffic from them to 192.168.6.10 to 10.1.1.20, but only for this connection (there are other "WAN" interfaces.
These are my failed attempts:
interface FastEthernet0/0.302 ip nat outside ip nat inside source static 10.1.1.20 192.168.9.10
PROBLEM: Works for this connection, but other connections are affected and no one can reach 10.1.1.20 apart from LAN and incoming traffic to F0/0.302
[code]....
But as I said before, some configurations are not supported by my device.
I notice that show inventory not showing all members in a 3750-stack after we merged two stacks. Its only showing the master of the new stack, and the previous master of the old stack.
I have a Lorex Edge 4 channel surveillance DVR system. One camera shows color, the other 3 show color, but every once in a while one of the others shows color.Have rebooted DVR.
I have configured a vlan interface on a 3750 switch. there is aprox 4Mb active traffic flowing through the interface, but when I do a "show interface vlan (vlanid)" the output show zero bits in and zero bits out. Its a typical L3 config with one IP on the vllan interface acting as the gateway for the VLAN devices. Is this a normal behaviur ? and if so is there any way to get the traffic in/out stats. The end PC/devices are connected to this switch via an L2 TRUNK and I dont have access to the L2 switch on which the actual devices connect. so cant get the real time stats of those interfaces.
Facing issue with 2960G switch , where its do not display "logging trap informational " in show running and show startup .where its showing all other levels from 0 to 5 and 7 after configuration and save commands. [code] after config getting saved , it do not shows in show runn or in show startup while for all other levels it do show the config lines .I tried the same on 12.55.SE release also but its same results . Is this a limitaion of this platform, is there any doc explaining the same for reference. [code]
We have a Cisco 2801 router running IOS "c2801-spservicesk9-mz.151-4.M4.bin" which we upgraded from previous “c2801-spservicesk9-mz.124-3d.bin”.
Requirement.
We want to monitor the device temperature via snmp but unable to do because temperature ratings are not available on "show environment all" output like below.
Routeri# sh environment all Fan 1 OK Fan 2 OK ILP Power Supply - Absent Fan Speed Setting: Normal
Where as on Cisco 2811/51 & Cisco 3825/45 we can get temperature ratings on "show env all" output.
As per link [URL] below commands are supported on Cisco 2800 series router.
Command options • show environment all • show environment fans • show environment leds • show environment power-supply • show environment table • show environment temperatures • show environment voltages
I want to know whether this is Cisco 2801 platform limitations or something else. tried to find Cisco doc on this but no luck.
i've got a Cisco 877 router connected to an ADSL link. i'm using the show dsl interface atm just to have a look on its performance. i've tried to search on Cisco website on how to interpret the output but a blog gave me more info [URL]. My question now is, what readings do i consider? is it on the left (ATU-R) or on the right (ATU-C)?
Is there a way I can check the version of each device on two Cisco 6509 if they are Virtually connected (VSS)? When I enter the command show version, it only shows one result, unlike show module, you have an option to choose which switch by entering 1 or 2.
I did a sh inv on my newly built 2x Cat 3750X + Cat 3750-24FS stack running 12.2(58)SE2). It only showed 3 of the 4 Cat 3750X PSUs - Sw1 PSU 0, Sw2 PSU 0 and Sw2 PSU 1.
I change only a chasis in a router 3845, but the "show version" command should be the same , except for the serial number and other parameter of time.. however, the number of serial interface change from 4 up to 2.The hardware module of 3845 are 3.
1.- VWIC E1/T1 with 2 port 2.- Fastethernet 36 port 3.- Supervisor engine with 2 Gigabit port
I'm troubleshooting a 3750 switch stack problem where computers are showing input and CRC errors. I'd like to be able to execute a "show interface" command that will show me only the line showing the switch port and the line showing the input errors, but so far I can't figure out a way of combining those two parameters.
If I do "show interface | include Ethernet[0-9]" I get all the lines showing the port numbers:
GigabitEthernet1/0/1 is up, line protocol is up (connected) GigabitEthernet1/0/2 is up, line protocol is up (connected) GigabitEthernet1/0/3 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Configuring FWSM in a 6509. When I set "firewall vlan-group 40 40-42,251", it results in: "No more than one svi is allowed. Command rejected.".
I had "firewall multiple-vlan-interfaces" set for a previous use of this module, but took that off with the "no" command. Suspect that is the issue, but do not see how to resolve. Seems similar to bug CSCsr48563, but I am at the fixed code for that bug.
Network newbie need to verify all necessary services and protocols on a new WS-C6509-E are turned on. This layer 3 switch will be used to connect to servers.
I hav e a 3750X Cisco Switch (WS-C3750X-48T-S) It is two Ethernet base SFP installed and working fine at slot 1 & 2, Now i am trying to install GLC-SX-MM in 3rd and 4th slot, but its not coming up, showing not present?
Gi1/1/1 connected trunk a-full a-1000 10/100/1000BaseTX SFP Gi1/1/2 connected trunk a-full a-1000 10/100/1000BaseTX SFP Gi1/1/3 notconnect 1000 auto auto Not Present Gi1/1/4 notconnect 1 auto auto Not Present
how can I show the DHCP-range of a router if I don't have privilege level? (not in enable-mode),I can do a "show ip dhcp pool" - this will show me the range which is configured with the network-command.But there are also some dhcp-exclude-addresses which I can't see.... (I did a test on a router with full privilege-access)I need this because I have a router with limited access from our provider.
I am working with 3750 switch.I console the switch and turn it on and it doesn’t show text in hyper terminal with any BAUD (I tried all the speeds). The hyper terminal works with other switches so the problem is not with the hyper terminal.when I tried to break the password it stuck after I was writing "flash_init" and when I entered or typed text it show only garbage characters. I tried to break the password with all the speeds and it shows garbage output. I tried to turn on the switch and hold control + break and it showed the text only with the speed 115200, but after I left holding and tried to type it showed only garbage again. Also I tried to copy text from the notepad to the hyper terminal.
is there a command available to run diagnostics in ASR port/SPA? the one below is from a juniper remote device. i was only able to find 'test interface' but haven't run this yet (currently in production).
I'm dealing with a 4506 switch that whn I try to apply "sh auth sess int xx" I get "Invalid Input Detected" ... Is there any way that I can get the authenticated session over a port even if I can't apply "sh auth sess int"?
We have a number of 4507s. Most are managed via VLAN 1 address. All have multiple VLANS for traffic control. When I do a show ARP or show IP ARP the command only shows VLAN 1 info. No entries for any of the other VLANS on the switch.

there is no error messages related to PSU in "show env all " log .

I have an C4900M with twingig converter and SFP GLC-LX-SMD in. So the SFP supports DOM function. It is running on 12.2(53)SG2.
I would to the see the optical power level of the SFP, but it does not recognize 'show interface transceiver' command as showed in 4500 software guide.
I am using cisco c3660 to act as Terminal Server for the communication of production machines in my company, recently there is a communication lost issue happen and its due to physical cable unplug from the machine. to troubleshoot for this issues i have to physically go inside my production area to check on it, as i understand from vendor we can check on the physical machine to see whether the LED light on the module is green or not, but in case of need to troubleshoot at night time, its time consuming as i need to travel back to company. is there any command that i can issue in the router c3660 to check on the physical connection between c3660 router and the production machine? the IOS version is IOS (tm) 3600 Software (C3660-I-M), Version 12.1(4)
I have this card installed onmy 3845 running version 12.4(18). But this card fails to show up.
here is what I found in a show tech.

Ether channel: Cisco documents say Cisco uses proprietary hashing algorithm to compute a binary pattern that selects a link in the bundle. For example below a 2961 router with a switch module " NM-16ESW" performs" XOR" operation to compute the binary value to select a link.
1)Would you guys share the output " show ether channel load-balance" on your platforms?( i just want to see how different platform support different algorithm besides xor). Layer 3 ether channel on a sw.
On router, we first create ether channel and then assign int into port channel. Suppose we have a layer 3 switch and we want to put ports f1/1-2 in port channel 1. Can i configure like this: sw(con) int range f1/1-2 no switch port channel-group 1 mode desirable. Or we must create a port channel just like we do on router and then assign ports to port channel?
Backbone fast: Suppose we have a switch with three ports, f1/1.f1/2.f1/3. f1/1 ( root port) f1/2( blocking) f1/3 ( designated port).
Backbone fast is enabled on our network. Suppose sw receives a inferior bpdu on its current root port f1/1. Sw sends out RLQ on its designated port(f1/2) and Blocked port (f1/3). Suppose sw receives the rlq reply on its designated port ( f1/2). What will sw do? Will it expire the max-age timer on its root port ( f1/1) or will sw wait for all the rlq responses then expire the max-age timer on its root port ( f1/1) ?
I've configured an ASA 5510 FW with asa901-k8 ios. on it's "inside" port there is 10.90.0.0 network. there is another network (10.190.0.0) in my system that can be reached via another router which has 10.90.0.253 ip address. when a client in the 10.90 network wants to reach the 10.190 network the fw redirects the request to the router (10.90.0.253) because the fw is my gateway. there is no problem so far... but... while i can ping and traceroute a 10.190... user from 10.90... network, i can't use any non-icmp appliactions. for example i can't use rdp programs, http web interfaces of some devices on remote network (10.190.0.0). what can cause that? is there any rule in asa that blocks these protocols?
We ordered the wrong part number for a Cisco 4506 non-E chassis, the part number is: WS-X4624-SFP-E and the device is showing "Unsupported module"; What would the part number be for the non-E? WS-X4448-GB-SFP,Catalyst 4500 48-Port 1000Base-X (SFPs Optional) ?
we have 6500 cisco switch as a backbone switch in universty. When ı want to look mac addres table , it does no show all mac address.ı mean if ı type ;show mac address-table there are not all mac address.
