We have CISCO2811 model with VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 module working good over the E1 line. Since it's getting hard to find new model of CISCO2811 we decided to connect new branches with CISCO2911/K9 model (according to migration doc)
My question is can we use 2811's old config file with the 2911 model directly?
I have a CAT 3560 connected to a ISR 2911 The 3560 has 2 subnets ( 192.168.1.0 /24 and 10.10.10.0 /24) The 2911 has interface GigabitEthernet0/1 on the 192.168.1.0 /24 and another GigabitEthernet0/0 on a WAN connection 172.16.7.246 I need to NAT both the 192.168.1.0 /24 and the 10.10.10.0 /24 to the single address 172.16.7.246 I have to use route-maps . I have IPSec VPN's and ZBF on the 2911 My problem is the NAT does not work for the 10.10.10.0 /24 network!Why?is my only option to use trunking between the 3560 and 2911 and subinterfaces on the 2911? I want to avoid sub-interfacing.

The host on the 10.10.10.0 /24 network has the 10.10.10.10 address as it's default gateway The host can not access the WAN thru NAT....
My company has a single 2811 WAN router with dual uplilnks to different ISPs right now. Recently we have had a major hardware failure issue that resulted in network outage. My manager reconsidered my recommendation of dual WAN routers but told me we had limited budget so could only afford one new router.
So now we are looking at solution of 2811 + 2911 with same license level. We don't have any special feature, just basic routing, basic BGP and static routes. I need to know what the implication of having different WAN router model is.
we have the following setup for our network :
UserNetwork - ASA5550 - WAN Router 2911 - ISP Netowrk - Branch Routers 877s / 1941s
Since last week we started noticing this problem that the branch users started to complain of slow application response.. After verifying it with the ISP and middle network we noticed that if i ping from my machine (ie usernetwork) to the WAN Router interface (facing the ASA) , i get time outs.. which is strange cause this is directly connected to it via ethernet cable.
But both of us are living far apart, but we are using the same ISP, same broadband package, same IP range too.I would like to know how to send files directly to him(or he send to me) @ full speed without extra steps like uploading my file to Megaupload
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a working configuration with a 2811 router at my remote site in which I take the T1 (point-to-point PRI) into port 0/0/0 on the dual-port vwic2-mft-t1/e1 card. Then I plug my PBX into the 0/0/1 port. I channelize the T1 so 1/2 of the channels are used for data (13-24) and channels 1-8 are passed through the vwic2 to the PBX. I'm using the connect tdm t1 0/0/0 0 t1 0/0/1 0 command to pass the voice calls through to the PBX.
I tried to upgrade the router to a 2911 with the same card and the same configuration copied and pasted over and as soon as I put the connect tdm t1 0/0/0 0 t1 0/0/1 0 statement in, I drop the data side of the T1 and lose my connection to the WAN. If I take the command back out, the WAN still doesn't come back up until I reboot the router.
Has the syntax changed? I have a case open with TAC but so far no luck, as they can't seem to figure out which group should take this case, voice or data..
Putting in a 1Gbps private Ethernet link between 2 sites. Currently have 2 2811's at each location, don't think that will cut it.
I was going to get 2 2911's, but looking at the docs it looks like they can only do 180mbps of throughput? Am I way out of my league here?
I have recently purchased 2911 routers running 15.1 to replicate a system I had implemented using 2811 routers running 12.4 a few years ago. None of my applications and servers have changed, but trying to determine why my router access-list on my serial links are not behaving the same. I don't keep up with Cisco changes.
On my original system, which is a private network that distributes a lot of udp broadcast and multicast data to remote sites over 64k serial lines, I manage some of the udp broadcast data using access-lists. When I check on my 2811-based system, "show ip access-list" shows a nice distribution of filter hits showing my expected deny/permit access-list entries working as expected allowing me to filter the particular udp broadcast ports of interest on the various serial interfaces.
On my 2911 based system, with most other elements the same, the access-list is not working correctly, and I see data getting through the access control to the other side of the serial link. Using tcp dump and other tools on the remote systems my routers attach to, it looks like the access control is basically ignored... though if I "shutdown / no shutdown" the serial link between the routers, it definitely stops and restarts the flow of data, so I know data is traveling over that interface... when I run "show ip access-list" on the 2911, I see tons of hits on one deny filter, and the last "ip permit any any" filter, but other deny udp any any eq XXX port filters are simply not registering denies.. which should be triggering since I see my server sending the data, and my client systems receiving the extra data I am supposed to be filtering on the router...
Is there potentially a new feature or command set option that I am missing to correctly filter outbound data from my serial links?

I'm having an issue with a Cisco 2811 ISR Router. Sh ver command output lists the correct ios that the router used for booting and it says that the ios is stored in flash but when i give "sh flash" command it doesn't display the ios file. Maybe the flash is corrupted or damaged in some way? In the attached file is the output from the "sh ver" and "sh flash" commands.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a router Cisco 2911 with two possible Wan interfaces out and a backup configuration using IP SLA. When the Primary Interface goes down the traffic is automatically rerouted through the Backup Interface, but the problem I have is that when the traffic is going through the Backup Interface (because the Primary is down) if the Backup Interface also goes down, if the Primary goes up, the traffic is not automatically rerouted to the Primary Interface. And it looks to me like it keeps trying to goes out the Backup Interface and cannot see that the Primary is down. I guess that the pings are going out the backup Interface and as it is down the router doen't receive any anwer to the ping and doesn't change to the Primary.
The main configuration related to the IP SLA is this:

I have a 2811 router that I need to confirm NAT configurations as expected. I have 2 deviced on the internal LAN that need to access remote resources without PAT. All the other devices are for a guest network with PAT. My interface Fa0/0 is connected to local network (1.1.1.1/23). Fa0/1 is connected to ISP (10.10.10.178/30). Addressable range from ISP of 10.10.10.192/28 (10.10.10.193-10.10.10.206). Internal machine 1.1.1.2 & 1.1.1.3 must connect to a remote server through internet on spacific port numbers.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several Cisco 2811 ISR Routers that are functioning as CallManager MGCP voice gateways. These routers have prtial PRI's attached to them which I realize are not supported by Cisco CallManager using MGCP. The problem is that whenever the router gets rebooted, the configuration under Controller T1 ends up with the improper PRI Timeslots command and I have to go in and manually change it. Solution: I have developed smal text files for each router that contains all of the commends needed to get the chnage accomplished (you have to shut down things and remove lines elsewhere to be able to change the PRI Timeslots) and I just telnet to the router and cut and paste the commands into the router.However, I would like to store those files on the router in such a way that I could telenet to the router and then either somehow display the file and then copy/paste it in or possible have a file that could be run to make the changes. That way I could do the job quickly fram anyplace I could telnet to the router and not have to have the text files on the local machine.

boot config flash:<Config file>
where <Config file> is the file on the flash.
Although this can be applied on 2811 routers, they fail to load the file on the flash card. I've since found that this router type has a Class C flash. So the question is, can either:

I have a Cisco 2811 Router. I have two VLANS on the router. The first one of course is VLAN 1 and the second one is one that I created from reading everything from this forum.. it is called VLAN 531
On VLAN one I have an IP address of 10.8.1.1 and on VLAN 531 I have an IP Address of 172.16.1.1, now what I can do is this... I can.. from a workstation on the 10.8.0.0 segment, ping 172.16.1.1 and one server on that segment that has an IP address of 172.16.1.50, which is fine, but what I really want to be able to do is ping our email server which is on a 10.21.0.0 segment and I cannot. Any commands on what I would need to do to make this work as I would like the 172.16.0.0 segment to ping any other part of my LAN of my choosing.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop with a single physical NIC which I have used the advanced management tools to create two virtual NICs (say vlan 10 and vlan 20) and both are on the same subnet (say 192.168.4.x). One NIC is for normal TCP/IP traffic and one is for broadcast/multicast traffic (I have some custom software that requires this to be the case and works fine on an older laptops with built-in physical NIC and PCMCIA XIRCOM NIC). The dual NIC laptop communicates with a dual NIC server via a Cisco 2811 router (which has a 16 port switch module at the back) and has vlans set up so.
What I want is for the single NIC laptop (with two virtual NICs) to be able to also communicate with the server. Basically, one NIC is for normal traffic and one is for multicast/broadcast traffic. All three machines need to be able to talk to each other using the NIC for normal traffic and both laptops must be able to receive broadcasts from the server. What is the best way to configure the router to handle the trunking/tagging? Most configuration documentation I read has two complete subnets for the two virtual NICs. Note that all three machines use static IPs and are part of a workgroup so no DNS and domain servers etc.

My hardware supplier tells me its the right adsl card (have 1 existing working card not the same) but the card will not detect on the system to be configured.is this the right card? am I missing something?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAt home I have a perfectly working test setup for more than 1 year now , but yesterday we had a power down for about 10 minutes in the whole area , after this power down nothing was working in my network any longer.
My Network is has follow :
ISP(Cable Modem) on FA23 from the CISCO 2950 SWITCH (24 Ports)
ROUTER (ON A STICK) on FA24 from the CISCO 2950 SWITCH
And the rest of the switch is FA1=VLAN 1; FA2=VLAN 2;FA10=VLAN 10
Our home network is connected to VLAN 10 with a IP Range of 192.168.10.x /24 After this power down , I was not able to look into the SWITCH via FA1 , the FIX IP in this switch was 192.168.1.251/24, the ONLY way to get access was via the consol port !!!What a suprice when I connected my consol to the PC , I can see ROUTER_F342 , my router config is called ROUTER1841 and my switch config name is /was called SW24.So it seems that after this Power Down , the router took or received a config from my provider ?!?
I have recovered the the file in the switch + the vlan.dat and now everithing works again.
How can I avoid that this switch receive again a wrong file , I have all the needed files on the products itself and I do not use a TFTP server.
I have atached some screen shot when my switch is starting up , and it seems that the switch receive a IP address from my ISP , I do not know why, in the config file I have given it a FIX IP 192.168.1.251/24 ?!?So it seems that my ISP erase the config file and when the switch is empty ,the swich look for :

I have tried after a complete recovery to switch off the power again for 10 minutes (ISP MODEM + SWITCH + ROUTER) and I was not able to reproduce the fault.Can it be that due to this power failure in our area that some routers or switches send or broadcast this kind of things ?
