Cisco WAN :: 887V VDSL Router / Pinging From The VLAN1?

Apr 7, 2011

I have a problem with my Cisco 887V VDSL-router. The router gets a ip-address with dhcp from my provider. That works fine. I also can ping from the router:

routerVdslTestNew#ping google.ch source vlan 1
Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 74.125.79.99, timeout is 2 seconds:
Packet sent with a source address of 10.10.10.1
!!!!!
Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 48/48/52 ms

My problem: If I want to ping google from a computer in the VLAN1 the ping doesn't work.

C:UsersXXXXXX>ping 74.125.79.99
Ping wird ausgeführt für 74.125.79.99 mit 32 Bytes Daten:
Timeout.

New VDSL Modem - Laptop Can't Connect To Wireless Router

Oct 20, 2012

I recently upgraded my DSL service, which required installing a new VDSL modem/wireless router (Actiontec c1000a.) Before the upgrade, I was using an older standalone DSL modem with a Netgear router to provide wireless access to my gaming consoles, laptop, etc. Everything works as before with my new wireless router EXCEPT my son's laptop. All my consoles, iPods, and desktop CAN connect to the wireless network, and the laptop will connect over a WIRED ethernet connection. I cannot get it to connect to the wifi.

HG 612 Model FTCC VDSL NTE Router - Icon Saying Unidentified Network

Jan 24, 2013

I have a Dell Aspire 5332 laptop and i haven't used it since November 2012 (where it was working fine).It had Windows updates when i switched it off. I switched it on today and i have no internet connection. When hovering over the icon it says unidentified network - no internet access. My service provider is British Telecom and i am on the Fibre Optic package. I am using the BT Home Hub 2.0.Fibre Type B and also a Echolife HG 612 model FTCC VDSL NTE Router. I have Norton installed on the machine but there is only 1 day left on the subscription. I have tried a wired connection from the router but still have the same message. 2 other computers are wired to the router and all of our Ipads and Macbook connect wirelessly with no problems.

Pinging Router Fails 5% Of The Time?

Sep 20, 2011

Lately I've noticed that my internet connection has been less than stellar. I will be playing an online game or surfing the web, and every so often I'll freeze up or things just won't run smoothly. My network consists of the following...All of my computers and devices connect to a Cisco 16 port gigabit switchThe switch then connects to a Peplink 20 Dual WAN routerThe router connects to a cable modem as well as a DSL modemThe other day I was trying to diagnose the problem, as well as update the firmware of the router. While I was on the main "status" page, I noticed an error saying that I couldn't connect to the router. It quickly cleared and everything was working fine. This of course made me think that my issues have to do with my connection to the router, and not with the internet service itself. I then tried ping -t to two other computers on the network, as well as the router. After 5 minutes of pinging, the connections to the two computers had zero fails, while the router connection failed about 5% of the time. I ran the same check from the other computers on the network, with similar results.So, I know that the issue lies with the router (I think), but that's where my brainstorm ends.

Pinging Local Router But Receive Direct Reply From ISP?

Oct 3, 2012

Lost Internet connectivity at home. connected via dsl line to my isp.when i issued ipconfig /all command i noticed that default gateway IP addr was a global ip addr. (77.36.x.x) instead of the usual private address 192.168.1.1. DHCP server had IP address 58.206.x.x when i issued ping 192.168.1.1 command, i got this output: "reply from 77.36.x.x: destination host unreachable" i couldn't access my router's configuration menu by typing 192.168.1.1 in web browser's address field.it's very interesting, because i had network issues before but could access my router's config menu and ping it. but now, i cannot reach my local router but receive reply from ISP's router.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2950 Router On Stick / Pinging Sub-interface

Oct 12, 2012

In my preparation for my coming CCNA certification I am experimenting with different network configurations. In my test network I am currently working with a "Router on a stick" setup. A Cisco 2611 router connecting a Cisco 2950 switch. VLANs configured on the switch and subinterfaces + dot1q encapsulation configured on the router. Switch only supports dot1q.Router's Eth0/1 is connected to the Switch Fa0/24 port which is also set to trunk mode. I am using a normal Cat5e twisted pair cable to connect the 2 devices.

VLANs are working since I can connect a workstation to an access port for example fa0/2 (vlan2) and get Internet access.I can also ping any of the subinterfaces of the router from the workstation.With the current setup I am not able to ping the switch from the router, or the other way around, so in other words I can't remote manage the switch from a telnet or SSH session with this setup. What I am missing?Just to be clear I am pinging the switch directly from the router (Router2611#ping 172.16.100.2), so please ignore all static routes and OSPF. [code]

Cisco LAN :: ASA 5505 Vlan1 IP Change?

Dec 27, 2009

In default mode the ASA 5505 is setup with two Vlan's, one inside and one outside. Vlan1 is the default inside VLan, with IP 192.168.1.1. I would like to change the subnet of Vlan1 tot 192.168.10.1, but when I do, no Ethernet port is assigned to Vlan1 anymore (was 0/1 - 0/7). What I have done is;

#config t
(config)#interface vlan 1
(config)#ip address 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0

But after that, no Ethernet port is within Vlan1, so I tried the following to assign one (port 0/1);

#config t
(config)#interface 0/1
(config)#switchport access vlan 1
(config)#no shut

But nothing happends when monitoring (#show run) interface 0/1 (no Vlan assigned)

Cisco WAN :: 877 / 2960 - HSRP Configuration On VLan1

Nov 13, 2012

I have the following topology:

2x 877 routers, one interface from each router (port Fa0 which belongs to the router internal switch) is connected to the 2960 switch, the switch himself configured with default settings, flat with one v LAN.

I have configured HSRP in the following manner: router A is 10.0.0.2, router B is 10.0.0.3, virtual IP is 10.0.0.1, take note that the HSRP configuration along with the IP address are configured on vlan1 interface.

Now when i connect a PC to the switch with static IP (10.0.0.4) and trying to ping 10.0.0.1 I'm not getting replies. i see on the PC, using wire shark, the icmp request goes out but on the primary router (and also on the backup) i can't see the icmp request (using debug ip icmp).

this behavior happens only when the HSRP is configured on interface vlan1, when configuring the same configuration on Fa4 (which is WAN interface) everything works fine.

To some extent my config works, but i think the default vlan 1 kills my internet. When i connect the 88va the vlan bridge 7 and 8 goes up, the router behind connects via pppoe on vlan 7 but no traffic is going through. vlan 8 gets a dhcp lease for iptv and if i don´t switch the receiver on and off the traffic flows and the tv works. I am also able to connect to the local ip to access the web interface. [code]

Cisco WAN :: 887VA VDSL Controller Firmware Upgrade?

I'm trying to upgrade the VDSL firmware on a 887VA. I've uploaded the file vdsl.bin-A2pv6C035d_d23j to the router. What must this file be renamed to in order to load the new firmware into the VDSL controller?

Here is the current firmware information. I've tried several of the obvious file names.

Cisco WAN :: 5505 PPPOE Access Via VDSL Bridge Modem?

Apr 25, 2013

I just bought a 5505 to learn from and am trying to attach my VDSL modem as a transparent bridge.It goes....

Laptop   >>> (VLAN1) Cisco 5505 (VLAN2)  >>> VDSL modem >>> internet
X.X.X.10 >>> (X.X.X.254) ------ (Y.Y.Y.254)    >>> Y.Y.Y.10        >>> A.B.C.D.

I'm using the ASDM, if I configure VLAN2 with the IP address of the VDSL interface I can ping the modem from the console session via Putty. If I take that off and configure up the PPPOE client I can't ping the VDSL modem, I'd expect that. If I then add in an IP address to the PPPOE client config like I assigned to VLAN2 it doesn't ping either.If I can't ping the VDSL modem I don't expect it would work but it seems I can only either give it a static address which pings but has no pppoe or give it a PPPOE config which means I can't ping the VDSL. why I can't ping the VDSL modem when the interface is set as PPPOE with an IP address?Presumably if I'm on the ASA console doing pings from there to the modem then I'm ruling out problems with the routing from the laptop (trying to isolate where the issue is)
