I am trying to design a network for our block of 20 apartments. The WAN supplies Ultima at up to 40 mb/s and the takeup on LAN is anticipated to be modest. However I have been told that two residents operate non commercial web sites currently on stand alone adsl with ddns. The netgear router supplied by the ISP obviously has port forwarding but how do I differentiate for traffic on port 80?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Aspire 5332 laptop and i haven't used it since November 2012 (where it was working fine).It had Windows updates when i switched it off. I switched it on today and i have no internet connection. When hovering over the icon it says unidentified network - no internet access. My service provider is British Telecom and i am on the Fibre Optic package. I am using the BT Home Hub 2.0.Fibre Type B and also a Echolife HG 612 model FTCC VDSL NTE Router. I have Norton installed on the machine but there is only 1 day left on the subscription. I have tried a wired connection from the router but still have the same message. 2 other computers are wired to the router and all of our Ipads and Macbook connect wirelessly with no problems.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI've been watching my PC-s HDD for months and I saw that something takes up way to much space, yesterday I checked and Windows said that I have 160 GB Free / 883 GB But when I selected all files in my E: even hidden files and checked their properties / size, it said its only 440 GB. So I was missing another 283 somewhere in this partition. I used the windows cleanup tool and it gave me back some of the space, but it wasnt 283 GB. I checked and checked, then I found a program called WinDirStat which shows you how much space you have and stuff, then I found this: [URL]Then I found out that WinDirStat cannot access the System volume informations and this unknown is that. Then I googled stuff up again and found this:

1. To see the space allocated and used for SVI:
- Open Command Prompt with �Run as Administrator� option
- Type in: vssadmin list shadowstorage
- You will see Used Space, Allocated Space and Maximum Space for SVI
2. To see the restore information stored therein:
- Use in the same console command: vssadmin list shadows
3. To resize the maximum allocated space:
- Type in command: vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=[here add the drive letter]: /For=[here add the drive letter]: /Maxsize=[here add the maximum size]
- E.g., vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=C: /For=C: /Maxsize=4GB
- You will see a prompt confirming resize done
- You can check the status again using the command discussed in point 1 above
4. Just to get rid of the space already consumed, but sticking to the same size of max-size as before:
- Do actions as per point 3 to set the max-size t, say, 1GB
- If you check now, most likely you�ll see that used space is now 0KB
- Do the resize again and set it back to what it was before
- Check your disk space availability in Windows Explorer, you should see the reclaim is done!I did what this guide said and it deleted the system volume information from my E: drive and I had my 440 GB back. BUT!At this part I HAD internet connection. I shutdown the PC, went to eat and do stuff, then I came back and got a blue screen right after the win7 logo (before the log in screen)I couldnt read what it said, because the PC restarted itself (even tho it is set NOT to restart so I can read the errors...wierd!)Then it started repairing itself, restarted, asked for a chkdsk, fixed millions of errors then restarted and I logged in just fine.But in the bottom right corner I seen a big ugly red X over my network connections, so naturally I went out my room, restarted modem and router then came back. Waited some mins, checked the modem and router again but they had internet. I started my sisters PC and her PC had internet.I checked everything I could, but I couldnt revive the internet, I cant join to any network (home, private, work) and I cant even see any. I only see dial up connections, hamachi and tunngle.Then I tried to resintall the driver. Deleted driver, restart PC, win automatically installed the nvidia driver for me, but still no internet. Then out of couriosity I started my Virtual PC (win xp) to check if it has internet connection or not. And it has! I have connected my Vista laptop to my old XP laptop using a network cable so that I can share files, printers, etc freely.I have forgotten the correct proceedure for doing this, although the two computers eventually, after a long time link up and I am able to share files. I have done nothing else. I have not entered numbers or anything. The number spaces are blank.I do not understand why it is working at all, but how do I speed up the connection?

Originally i was going to port forward the original windows RDP port and run the windows rdp service but learnt that XP Home Edition doesn't support this feature. View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues accessing facebook from my system, it worked untill a few days back where its not opening and gives a message "The connection to the website was reset". I have tried every trick in the book. I'm on Windows XP Pro.
1. I tried accessing the site from IE6 opera and mozilla still no luck.
2. I disabled my firewall and antivirus
3. Zonal Alarm and avira
4. I also uninstalled both and tried nothing worked.
5. Im able to ping the site and also did a tracert.I also flushed the dns and winsock.

All i get is the following error: "The connection has timed out" I called my ISP this morning, and they asked me to try adding a proxy server in IE. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an E4200 (v1) with the latest firmware. For some reason, the E4200 does not allow me to conenct to certain websites. This is true for wired or wireless connections.To test, I connected a wired PC directly to my cable modem and was able to connect to all websites fine. I also tried an old D-Link router I had on hand and was able to connect to all sites fine. Went back to the E4200 and was blocked. I re-loaded the firmware and same results.

The line goes down suddently for 2 or 3 minutes and this happens everyday at the same range (~2 or 3 hours) of time . I don't have any scheduled task to cause this. I was able to access my website jetbaby.com just fine before I changed the cPanel password. Now I cannot even load the site or load the cPanel login page here: jetbaby.com:2082 All I did was change the cPanel password. When I use another computer that is NOT on my network, I can connect to the site fine. I'm assuming that my network is blocking it for some reason after the cPanel password change. I tried the IP address in the address bar as well (still no go). Cannot "ping" the IP address either. I reset my modem and router as well. Cleared cache in browsers as well. I also disabled firewall and anti-virus for testing.

Our client tried to a download a real time generated file from a website, the generation process around 5 mins, after 5 mins, the file will be started to download
When my client direct connect to internet, the file can be download successfully, but when pass through the ASA 5510 and using the internal IP address, a message something like "Are you sure want to logout from this web page?" appears in Safari after 5 mins, i think the time of the error message appear when a "you can start to download" message send from the server to client, the page session timeout so that make the user cannot download the file from internet as the session is not vaild.
I couldn't find any timeout setting in "show runn", is it possible the setting in ASDM? how can I find it and configure it?
We have been noticing a strange issue since upgrading to Comcast Business with a new Motorola 6580 modem/router:certain common websites can no longer be accessed via the network (although they load fine when accessed via smartphone 3/4G)I already did some reading on the subject and it looks like the Firewall is to blame:when I switch Firewall to "Off", everyone can access the websites ok,as soon as I switch Firewall back to "Low" - no more website access.Question: is there any workaround for this issue other than turning off the Firewall?

Before the upgrade, I was using an older standalone DSL modem with a Netgear router to provide wireless access to my gaming consoles, laptop, etc. Everything works as before with my new wireless router EXCEPT my son's laptop. All my consoles, iPods, and desktop CAN connect to the wireless network, and the laptop will connect over a WIRED ethernet connection. I cannot get it to connect to the wifi.

It has firmware 1.01.09?Edit: I see in the DSL Modulation menu which is set at present to "Multimode" I also have options to select ADSL2, ADSL2+, ADSL2 AnnexM, ADSL2+ AnnexM and ASDL2 AnnexL but I do not see any mention of "VDSL"

I want to dumb down a Cisco 886va to act as a pure vdsl bridge modem with a local ip to be able to do some admin work on the router. To some extent my config works, but i think the default vlan 1 kills my internet. When i connect the 88va the vlan bridge 7 and 8 goes up, the router behind connects via pppoe on vlan 7 but no traffic is going through. vlan 8 gets a dhcp lease for iptv and if i don´t switch the receiver on and off the traffic flows and the tv works. I am also able to connect to the local ip to access the web interface. [code]

I'm trying to upgrade the VDSL firmware on a 887VA. I've uploaded the file vdsl.bin-A2pv6C035d_d23j to the router. I understand this file has to be renamed with a .bin extension in order to be recognized after a reboot, but the attempts I have made have not worked. What must this file be renamed to in order to load the new firmware into the VDSL controller?
Here is the current firmware information. I've tried several of the obvious file names.

I'm trying to set up a website filter on my DIR-601. I created a policy for 2 MAC addresses, with a schedule from 10AM-6PM, selected "Block some websites", and disabled logging. Under website filter, I added some entries, and selected "DENY computers access to ONLY these sites". When the policy is enabled, and I try to access one of the blocked websites, it gets blocked correctly ("The URL access was denied by administrator.") However, for all other websites, I get "server unexpectedly dropped the connection" errors, eg "Safari can�t open the page [URL] because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again." or in Chrome "No data received. Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data." This happens with ALL non-blocked websites. I'm using hardware version A1, firmware version 1.01NA.
