Now that I've got the console cable working due to a USB adapter, I can access the router fine and the Cisco CP and Hyperterminal software both work fine, however if I try and configure the router via the Cisco CP > Setup a new device... menu option, once I press 'next' on the screen which asks for an IP, subnet, user/pass, it eventually comes up with this error:
readTillMatch: Timeout, max timeout=60000 ms, last device response=[]?
I have manually reset it once already via Hyperterminal and tried again but that still persists in producing that error once I configure it via the Cisco CP software.
EDIT: Manually configuring it via hyperterminal using the commands given by the device wizard worked instead, and then saving and reloading. However, despite getting the LAN lights to come on now (on the router) and my computer to acknowledge a connection, I can't get it to obtain an IP, nor can I get it to discover the router on 192.168.1.1 if I specify the IP manually for my network connection, using gateway as 192.168.1.1 and my computer's IP as 192.168.1.15 for example.
I've struggled now for a couple of days to setup a PPPoe connection on our cisco 887va box. I can setup straight away on a draytek box so i know the connection is good.I can't get the line protocol to come up? It's connected via ethernet port 0 to an external modem. One thing i can't figure out is if ethernet 0 and fast ethernet 0 is the same physical port?I've attached the running-config below.
We are using an ACE20 module running version A2(3.2).I have a question regarding IP stickyness and the timeout parameter.I found this in the "Server load balancing configuration guide" (in a section entitled: "Configuring a Timeout for IP Address Stickiness"):
"The sticky timeout specifies the period of time that the ACE keeps (if possible) the IP address sticky information for a client connection in the sticky table after the latest client connection terminates. The ACE resets the sticky timer for a specific sticky-table entry each time that the module opens a new connection or receives a new HTTP GET on an existing connection that matches that entry."
The parts in bold seem to point to the fact that the timeout is an "inactivity timeout" as the counter is reset on every new connection. The next section in the documentation is entitled: "Enabling an IP Address Sticky Timeout to Override Active Connections" and says:
"By default, the ACE ages out a sticky table entry when the timeout for that entry expires and no active connections matching that entry exist. To specify that the ACE time out IP address sticky table entries even if active connections exist after the sticky timer expires, use the timeout activeconns command."
This seems to contradict the previous statement. So my question is: is the IP stickyness timeout an "inactivity timeout" or not?
difference of CISCO887VA-K9 and CISCO887VA-SEC-K9.I thought it because of the Advanced Security and Advanced IP Licenses, but it isn't, I've got the -SEC- Version now just with the Advanced Security license. So I asking myself why I bought the more expensive CISCO887VA-SEC-K9 if I have to buy the additional Advanced IP Services licenses extra..
As part of my course, I have to install a brand new network, including cabling, setting up equipment etc in a room whilst ensuring that the current network system for that room is still running without any issue. How to do this as it includes taking out/changing the infrastructure in relation to cabling?
I have a Cisco 877W-K9 router, and I for the life of me can not work out how to enable multiple SSIDs on the AP whilst keeping them all to the same VLAN?
I know this may seem silly but basically for our clients we setup WPA-Enterprise for one SSID and WPA-PSK for the other to help ease migration between the two etc, however all I can seem to do at the moment is create multiple VLANs and use ip unnumbered vlan1 to sync them all into one, but this seems really silly.
Have they changed the poe requirements for this router? This model seems to be a seconed gen 887 with internal wireless, fanless and instead of there being a second 2 pin power socket for the poe option there is just 1 power input with the text under is saying. 'poe option requires 5a power adapter' I have purchased the 800-IL-PM=2 to delivery poe on the first 2 ports from this document [URL]While the daughter board does fit in the stand off pegs are too short and the power adapter is incompatable.
I'm trying to get an internet connection through my cisco 877va but I can't get access. I cant apply show cotroller vdsl 0 command and I can see DSL up, however, the dialer0 interface can't get access to internet. If I apply "show int dialer0 account" coomand, I get the next message: "No traffic sent or received on this interface". [code]
I need to configure a Cisco 887va router for a customer with a firewall that doesn't support PPPoA. I basically need to ensure all traffic that is recieved from the internet (ADSL connection) is NAT'd to a LAN interface so the firewall can do the specific NATing. I have the following route map and NAT rule in mind, but what I am confused about is that if the atm0 interface needs to be configured as the outside interface and vlan2 as the inside interface. How will the following work?
I'm trying to get an internet connection through my cisco 877va but I can't get access. I can see DSL up, however, the dialer0 interface can't get access to internet. Here is my configuration:
Actually I have to make a VPN between an 5520 ASA and a Cisco 887VA-K9 Router. Connected to ASA I have the outside interface, the inside-DMZ interface, the PCs interface and the VoIP interface. In the other site I will need to have a new subnet and a VoIP phone which I need to connect to the VoIP subnet in the other side in order to work with our CCM servers.I need two VPN established between ASA and 887 Router?
I have set up my network to pass ethernet (layer 2) traffic accross an adsl connection to another 887va router. this link is set up as a L2TP. I have a PC at one end of the tunnel and a web ranger that operates at layer 2 level. I can see the layer 2 traffic entering the router from the PC however it does not seem to go over the L2 tunnel to the other router.
I also need to know what debug codes I can enter to see if the data is being filtered and if so why?the debug L2TP gives the following output:
L2TP Tunnel and Session Information Total tunnels 1 sessions 1 LocTunID RemTunID Remote Name State Remote Address Sessn L2TP Class/ Count VPDN Group
I've got a brand new C887VA-W-E-K9 that is up and running on a BT VDSL connection. That side of it is fine... But the integrated AP module on it keeps reloading.. I can be on the AP console reading the config via 'sh run' and suddenly it'll be loading the OS again... There's no errors logged, no errors on the console or anything... (I also have yet to get the radio working, it starte dbefore I'd finished the config).
It doesn't seem to be anything I'm doing as if I just leave the console, it'll just sit there... reloading every few minutes... (Although sometimes it seems to stay up for longer).
The console just looks like this. WHich is taken from listing the running config and while sitting at the --more-- prompt... Bang...
interface GigabitEthernet0 description the embedded AP GigabitEthernet 0 is an internal interface connecting AP with the host router no ip address
I am struggling to get this working after spending many hours looking at it I am now completely stuck. We are upgrading from a 857W to this 887 VA-M I have some experience of IOS and the 800 series. Our 857W works perfectly using almost the same config. Our situation is that the router will sit in front of our firewall and act essentially as a simple router passing everything through to our Firewall. Nat is done at the Firewall.
We currently have the following configuration that seems to connect the the ISP fine but I cannot connect to the vlan2 port on the switch the firewall cannot connect to he internet or route anything via the Vlan2 port no pings etc.. I am using Fast Ethernet 0 as the Vlan2 port and the rest are V LAN 1 with a local network address to allow me to connect a laptop.
We have a block of static IP addresses, the base of which is assigned to the V LAN 2 interface and used by Dialer 0 as IP Unnumbered. Config below.

I'm facing an issue since 2 month now , no one is able to tell me what's going on. The line goes down suddently for 2 or 3 minutes and this happens everyday at the same range (~2 or 3 hours) of time . I don't have any scheduled task to cause this. ISP in his side has also made some tshoot but found nothing and is convinced that the problem is coming from our side :
We have a 887VA and a dns/web/mail/ftp server behind (below address 192.168.99.100).
first problem I forwarded the necessary ports to the server address, but now the domain became invisible and all the above servers stops to respond.
second problem whenconfiguring a fixed ip addres on a PC with GW and DNS server the 887VA address no internet connection possible, but when put instead the route address in the dns the ISP dns address internet comes back.
Put this server on DMZ, so all services will be available from the outside? forth how to connect the route remotely (with putty)
This site is my only hope to succeed one day to manage this "black" box successfully. Below the running conf

I have a adsl setup from my ISP (TDC) and I would like to use my 887va as modem instead of the supplied Motorola Modem.I have the technical info on the connection: VPI = 0, VCI = 101 and RFC1483 AAL5snap. I have supplied the 887VA with an IP address on VLAN1. What is the right direction in terms of access-lists, dialer interfaces, routing etc.I have tried serveral guides on Cisco pages but have not managed to even ping google from my 887va.
I'm having a weird issue with static routing on the Companies Cisco Router. Essentially nothing is being passed through from what I can tell. Im unable to remote in or even email the exchange server its all blocked..

I have cisco router 887VA.Question is when i connect that WAN port ( eth0) with any switch or laptop/pc i do not see the port in up state. What can be the reason.I have done "no shutdown " on interface level and there is no configuration on interface except the IP address , but it show " up down "state even the port is connected to some device. ( Is the port is faulty or some other reason). As per my concept it should show up state when we connect to some device ( Like router / switch / laptop).
Im new to Cisco equipment and weve just upgraded to a all singing 8000 series (887VA) to be precise.
i'm having difficultys in setting the router to connect to our BT ADSL2 business broadband, we have a static IP but on normal cheaper routers you just input a Chap username and password. and the router sorts the rest.
i've followed the tech support from cisco website inputted the configure commands to create the ATM0 and a Dialer0 but still having no joy.when you log into the gui it only shows you a enable PPPoE tick box. no signs of PPPoA?
Ive just started up a new cisco 887va-w and the startup wizard doesnt start. Is there a way to make this manually start?
What i tend to do is run the wizard for the basic settings then run 10-15 lines from the client (depending on adsl or vdsl config) to configure the router. But for some reason this one doesnt fire it after loging on with cisco cisco to 10.10.10.1 and changed the username and password. I just get the bebased cisco cp 'basic'. Cant see anyware on it to launch the wizard either.
Ive tried reset button on the back and reset to factory from cisco cp?
Software running on the unit is c800-universalk9-mz.spa.151-4,m4.bin
Just got hold of my first 887va for my home, never configured a vdsl interface before and was just wondering if my setup looked good to someone whos done it a few times.
I'm trying to configure an 887VA for a pppoe ADSL2+ connection with no luck.I know the ISP requires pppoe (LLC), and the pvc is 8/35. The CD light is on, and the line is up, but the 887 just won't connect
The aDSL circuit is up and connected and I can reach the internet, however not all sites on the internet are reachable. This is occurring on two seperate 887VA’s and the circuit has been tested with a netgear router and no issues occur. The router has been tried on 5 different ADSL connections and the same problem occurs although more websites can be reached on a home broadband connection (ADSL2+ Annex A) as opposed to the problem being more severe on an ADSL2+ Annex M circuit. The problem seems to affect websites that are full of adverts more than sites that have single domain landing pages.
The sites that I cannot reach are pingable. This happens on multiple machines behind the router. The same config is used on an cisco 877-M router with no issues.

I have problem since 2 weeks. My 2 macbook pro won't connect when im in my saloon, sometimes after 2 or 3 reboot it works. When i come in the same place of the AP, i'm connected directly. When I look at the force of the signal is -35 in the chamber and -55 in the saloon. My android phone and one other old mac book doesn't have problem connecting. I look at logs and I see some max retries and some authentification failed. IT's so weird. Here is my config, did you see something wrong ?
i have set up a layer 2 tunnel on my 887va router and the traffic transmits accross this to my second 887va. unfortunately, I do not seem able to get the layer 2 traffic from my host PC and down the tunnel.
I believe the problem to be the router settings for the fastethernet aqnd forwarding this data out of the dialer port.
Here is my config:
